I hit 4 stores in one day this week.  You guys have seen the picture already, and hopefully you took a second to guess on the retail value.

So how much is it all worth??

There were over 5,000 entries so I’m picking the 6 closest guesses:

$334.86    dragoncrazy1999@
$335    roweaglejacket@
$335    mbrasher78@
$335    mel82362@
$335    Kathleendollar@
$335.27    J_hawkgirl@

I’m going to have to skip the store by store breakdown cause, well the receipts are at home with my family and I’m in Chattanooga.  I would call my husband and ask for numbers but I think he’s got enough on his plate right now…  I do have the full total though.

The Weekly Total:
Before sales and coupons: $335.06
Spent (after rebates): $61.13
Saved: $273.93 or 81.8%

I know most of the out of pocket was from Kroger.  I spent around $45 there and then $15 more in the 3 drug stores.  My favorite deal was all of the vitamin water that was FREE!  I knew holding on to those $1/2 coupons would pay off!

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or link.

    • FrugalMom

That’s awesome, such an inspiration! I did not do too well this week, but it sure is great to see that someone did.

I just tried out CVS's Extra Care Bucks program today, and I was really nervous, but it worked out great. With coupons, I paid $1.50 out of pocket for a bottle of shampoo, two tubes of toothpaste, a bag of candy corn, some Aveeno face wash and a bottle of Advil! Plus I have two Extra Care Bucks left over that don't expire until the middle of November. It helped that the cashier was amazing in helping me with my multiple transactions. :) I'm a believer!

      • Tigress1321

I want to get into this Jenny calls CVS “the land of the free”. But I am nervous as well.

        • Heather

The trick is to start very slow. You can even start slow with doing two separate transactions. After about 2/3 weeks of doing CVS; you will get to enjoy it tremendously. I've been doing true “CVS” trips for 2 months and I always have $10/$15 ECB to carry forward. I donate a lot of what I buy and I'm stacked up on just about everything. I have 3 sisters and I went with all of them and my mother to get them started. I have found the best way to get as many deals as you want/need, its best to go first thing on Sunday morning. CVS's around here in South Florida have a tendancy to “run” out of a lot of their items fast. Don't be afraid to ask for rain checks!

    • Brooke

My week went a little like this:

      2 Purex 3-in-1

      Brach's candy corn

      Family size Pantene Conditioner

      2 Colgate Total toothpastes

      Total OOP: 85 cents

      Total Saved: $32.36

Didn't get any ECB's back in the end but I started with $6.00 ECB's and a dollar bill so I guess it was worth it!

      4 Right Guard deodorants

      2 Old Spice body washes

      1 Gillette body wash

      2 Noxema disposable razors

      2 Edge shave gels

2 nail polishes-didn't have coupons for these but 2/$3 is a good price for nail polish

      1 Crest Pro Health toothpaste

5 cheap fillers-Halloween coloring book, Halloween cups, Walgreen's chapstick

      Total OOP: $10.58

      Total Saved: $48.49

So total OOP for the week was $11.43 and I saved a whopping total of $80.85! Now all I have to do is go grocery shopping tomorrow. I LOVE couponing! :)

    • Angela

Can find a few extra cupons at:

    • Athena

      I was so close!

    • Sarah

I clicked on the linkd for “Walmart –16 items for ONLY $1.38” and I am glad I did. I have always wanted to go to walmart and take my $1.00 or more coupons to see if I can get some free stuff since they dont double. I have noticed most things in there are cheaper but if its on sell at the grocery store and they double the coupon then it is a much better deal at the grocery store. Thanks for all the posts Jenny ……I am going to make sure I take my “big coupons” into walmart and see how I do.

    • Heather

I have to post that this “true couponing” method has dramatically enriched my family life. It's been a challenging couple of years economically. Through 2 lay offs, illnesses, family deaths and personal issues we lost everything and we are starting fresh. One of the biggest tell tale factors we were struggling was staring at our fridge and pantry empty for almost 2 years. It's amazing to see the positive effect it has on my teenagers that we have plenty to eat and we don't ration our toilet paper/paper towels/soaps and toothpaste. It amazes me that when I come home from shopping, my girls spend the next two hours looking over everything I've gotten and they never complain there is nothing to eat or we are lacking. They have even gotten into asking me what is on sale this week and make personal requests for what they need or want. I've always been into couponing, but never as effective as this. It was my sister that turned me on to SouthernSavers. I now have a “little” extra money each week and I use it to donate a lot of our surplus to Senior HUD buildings and I spend a lot of time teaching and coaching others. I'm not a pro yet, but I plan to be. Thank you Jenny! ;-)

    • Larisa Dixon

where is the vitamin water on sale?

    • Donna

Wow, you did great on all those groceries, Jenny! I was waiting to see what the total was! :)

I didn't do much this week, but did hit Rite Aid & CVS and honestly had my best week yet there (I'm only 4 weeks into couponing at drug stores)!

(got 2 quaker oatmeals, 3 dawn dish soaps, garnier hair color, colgate toothpaste, mentos as a filler)
      before sales/coupons: $28.55
      OOP: $0.36 (all tax)
      saved: $28.19 or 98.74%
used $10 in ECB from previous trips
got $4.99 in ECB to use in the future

Rite Aid #1 – didn't have any +UP''s to use from previous trips so this was a “starter”
(got dove shampoo & conditioner, 2 dove body washes, garnier hair color)
      before sales/coupons: $30.55
      OOP: $6.29 (including tax)
      saved: $24.26 or 79.41%
got $5 in +UP's to use in the future

      Rite Aid #2
(got clairol hair color, 2 lysol wipes, 2 purex laundry sheets, 2 playtex tampons, maybelline eye studio, 2 gain dish soaps)
      before sales/coupons: $52.70
      OOP: $2.26 (including tax)
      saved: $50.44 or 95.71%
used $5 in +UP's from previous trip
got $8 in +UP's to use in the future

I'm beyond thrilled at my savings & thankful to Jenny & Southern Savers for it! :)

    • Daphne

I spent $105.68, and saved $94.96 this week at Publix. I was hoping to get to a $100.00 savings, but I didn't quite make it. The cashier was like, “Wow, you've got a lot of food for not very much $”.

    • Dsaundra77

I did great this week at Publix. My total before coupons was $250.00 (I'm rounding cause I don't have my receipts with me) and after coupons my total was $103.00.

    • Brittney

Oh Jenny! I have been waiting for the day that Publix would finally open here in Dothan, AL. Well, last week it opened and this week was my first attempt at couponing there. I have been following you since April and have my family budget down to about $300 a month (with two littles in diapers/pull-ups). Well, my first attempt was good, but I WILL get better. I spent 20 oop and saved $35 after all sales and coupons. I plan to go back and do the febreeze deal and the glad trash bags again. Thanks for your inspiration! Even my 2 almost 3 year old likes to “coupon with Mommy”. She really likes to drive the “race car” at Publix. So, couponing is here to stay! :)

    • So glad you finally got to get in on the deals, Jenny!

I had a wonderful week. I went to Kroger for groceries, and the total bill was 238.12. after using my kroger card, ecoupons, and manufacturer coupons , my total bill was 112.03. The savings was 47%. Not great , but starting to get the hang of it. That was including two large bags of pet food, that were $8 each.

At CVS, I purchased $41.46 for only $2.62, that was 94% savings.
