We had a family trip to Kroger this week, there wasn’t too much to grab deal wise but I loaded up on produce and meat.  I also stocked up on bottled water with a fun 87¢ closeout for kid sized 24 pk bottles!

While the savings was only 56% and a larger number would have been more fun, I’m happy overall.  We got marked down steaks, ribs, apples, broccoli, bananas, potatoes, and fall decoration gourds (Kroger has an awesome price on these by the way – 39¢ lb).  There were a number of coupon deals too, just grabbing the top deals off the Kroger ad.

Total before sales and coupons: $157.72
Total Spent: $69.21
Total Saved: $88.51 or 56%

I  also ran into CVS to test a deal that someone emailed, it didn’t work, but I did at least get my quarterly ECB’s, all 50¢ of them.  Honestly if you play the CVS game well you really won’t earn quarterly ECB’s unless you fill your prescriptions there.

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or link to your savings post.

    • I was happy to get $7 for my quarterly ECBs, but I do fill prescriptions there (3-4 per month), so that’s why it was so good! Though I think I’m going to change pharmacies, so that will be going away. :-(

    • JrFrugalmom

Is it just me, or is there no linky?

      • Yeah, no link thing, but it says “Submissions Start October 7, 2011, 6:17p.m.” so maybe in about 20 mins or so it will be available!

I didn’t get to Wag this week – I have $13 RR to roll, hopefully there will be a good sale before Monday… Isn’t the TP on special this coming week?

    • Hey, I got a 44 cent full size can of Skintimate. I was thrilled. Would have gotten another if I’d had another cvs coupon to stack with the manufacturer one.

its interesting that so many people had problems at Walmart with the scrubbing bubbles toilet cleaners for 3.97.  The ones on sale were the ones that said Refill plus Free Holder.  Thats why they werent 9.97 because the holder in those packs was already free.  Those of you who managed to convince Walmart that Scrubbing Bubbles One Step was the same product and got the 3.97 price for it got a great deal

      • CouponDiva16

Target priced match the $3.97 Scrubbing Bubbles from the Walmart ad.  I was not thinking about the package was different.  Thanks for clearing that up.  I was looking the size of the refill matched the one on the shelf that was around $9.  I pays to read the package.

So I’m new to CVS and just started shopping there in the spring.  Apparently I must not be playing the CVS game too well b/c I got 4 quarterly ECB’s back and I don’t do my prescriptions there.  There have been quite a few “buy x amount of product get 10 ECBs back” recently and I’ve been rolling them for more of those promotions.  I try to purchase things there that are on sale that make them cheaper than Walmart or doing things that are free with ECBs or really cheap.  Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong?  I thought I was doing pretty well until I read the part of the post that you shouldn’t get many quarterly ECBs back.  So…tips anyone?

      • I believe this is what she meant by that… Your quarterly ECBs are calculated based on a percentage of what you spent there, out of pocket.  So, if you’re using coupons and ECBs at CVS every time, then you’re only paying a few dollars here and there… therefore, you won’t have a high percentage for your quarterly ECBs.  Hope this helps!

Can someone explain the Worklife Rewards at Office Depot/Max, cant remember which one it is that has that program.  But they have the Keurig K-Cups this week that she says are basically free.  Is it a mail in rebate or what? thanks!

I just want to share the awesome deal I found at Rite Aid today! They had DayQuil on clearance for $1.62 and I used the $1/1 from last week’s P&G saver. My total was $0.75 with tax!! The use by date on the bottle is Dec 2012.

      • my best friend’s mom makes $77 an hour on the computer. She has been out of job for 9 months but last month her check was $7487 just working on the computer for a few hours. Read about it here CashLazy.com

At walmart I used only $11 in coupons but it’s better then nothing right? Also gonna hit up cvs tomorrow. I have $18 in ECBs to use :) my quartly was $2 not sure what I might be doing differently because I don’t fill prescriptions there but I’m happy with $2 ECBs for sure!

I only started couponing about 4 weeks ago.  I am getting a little better each week, but I am not where I want to be!  I was more pleased with my savings this week…I don’t know how some of you guys do it!

My Publix shopping experience: I got $125 worth of groceries fo $68.

      • Nice job! You’ll get the hang of it!! :)

    • Deneise

I was very pleased with my Winn Dixie shopping yesterday. Got $287.00 worth of groceries for $149.00. That’s only a 49% savings but since no stores in Florida double coupons, that is actually pretty good.

i just want to say there are some people using the 5.00/1 bengay coupon for the wrong size. its actaully for the 4.0 oz size and around 9.48 or so. i noticed it and didnt use it at cvs for bengay deal, but many people are. im not the coupon police or anything, and you can do what you want, but it did not feel right to me to use it. also for the dove deal at cvs there were people using the .75/1 with the b1g1 coupons and its say on the coupon not to used with another coupon. I just think people need to use the coupons the right way, or it might get worse for alot of people like me for instance that use them right. some good deals this week though. i got the transformer toy from target, and some makeup for tax only.

    • KouponKim60

I had a great week..started off with my 4 free blushes at Walmart, and ended today with my Publix trip…retail 125.34…my cost after sales and coupons $60.94! It was a fun week!

    • Guest

I guess I don’t understand the CVS game.  Can someone please explain?  I got $7 back in ECB’s.  I thought that was a good thing….

      • ECBs are basically money that you can use only at CVS.  It works just like cash!  Most couponers try to roll ECBs to the next week, meaning that they have at least $1 or $2 or even $5 ECBs to pay for their transactions the following week.  The following week, you will get more ECBs, and so on!  You should never have to pay that much at CVS if you use coupons and roll your ECBs!

    • Nice job this week, Jenny!  Thanks so much for the link up!

    • G_gibson00

Had a great shopping trip today. Hit the walmart and the publix. All in all I got $274.25 and saved $191.48. I even got $120 in cover girl make up and they paid me : ) And here I thought I was doing good until I spoke with my sister who did the same shopping trip as myself and she got over $1000 (not a typo really says a thousand dollars) and only spent $68! I must say this week was pretty darn good so thank you Jenny for getting all this information together for us!!!!

I’m really happy with this week’s shopping trips.  At Wags I spent $11.20 and saved $23.55 (68%).  The Cottonelle deal did work for me; you have to buy the Ultra in the purple package to get the $3 RR.  At Target I spent $14.71 and saved $14.12 (49%).  I used the coupon in this week’s paper to get 3 of the free Dr. Pepper Ten 2 liters.  And at Publix I spent $28.95 and saved $95.12 (77%!!!).  I got 4 of the Airwick candles which was a $2.04 moneymaker and 8 Covergirl products for a $6.48 moneymaker!  And I’m going to submit this receipt for the P&G free pink bakeware rebate since I spent over $25 on Covergirl!!  Thank you Jenny for everything you do!

Extra Bucks at CVS are great.  With the recycle leaf, for the month of October so far I received EB for amounts of $6.98, $1.00, $1.50 and $1.98. Of course when I use any it will be for another EB item. Plus I have the 25% bonus card to use next weekend. Not bad in my humble opinion.

Still trying to get the hang of this coupon thing. I wish my local Sunday paper had more food coupons. I have went to buying food coupons off of Ebay. We will see how that goes. But my shopping trip this week went O.K. Went to Winn-Dixie, total before savings $134, after savings $87 (35% savings). Any pointers on how to do better?
