This week I have no huge savings to share.  We have been out of  town all week for workshops in South Ga.  I did visit a Publix while in FL to get a prescription filled, kids love to get sick when you are away from home.

To have full disclosure…

While in Publix I bought infant Tylenol not on sale for $5.99.  No savings…

I did get the prescription filled for FREE.  I love the Publix free medications program.

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or link directly to your posts. (Any links going to other non savings posts will be deleted).

    • Sorry you had a bad week and you are right, kids have a knack for getting sick when you are out of town! Its happened to me more times than I like to think about. Hope they are doing better now

I decided to use my day off of work today to go shopping…

      1. Kroger, spent 6.16, saved 13.40 or 69%
      2. Harris Teeter, spent 16.93, saved 28.04 or 63%
      3. Giant, spent 11.86, saved 12.37 or 52%
      4. CVS, spent 1.30 OOP + 9.98 ECBs, saved 30.43 and earned 8.99 in ECBs

Total spent, 36.25… + I have a $5 rebate to apply for with items I bought!

I did drive all the way out to Walgreens only to find they didn’t have any of the items I was interested in getting :( I did enjoy getting to stores I’ve never visited before, though. Thanks for all your help! (I used http://www.frugalinvirginia.com for Giant)

Must say I don’t know what we would do without the free prescription program! My little guy has to be on an antibiotic for a year (long story). Can you imagine how expensive that would get without the free program?!

    • A couple of really good deals: WAGS has a $2 off coupon in the ESR for Schick disposable and there was a BOGO recently as well as $1 off which made the deal: $8.99 +8.99 = tax = 17.98. When you take off the 8.99, the 2 + 2 + 1, you get 2 really nice packs for 3.99 +tax. Also, some Kroger stores have a fantastic orgnanic coupon book in the organic section with coupons that can be used right now for Knudsen juice BOGO – makes it almost free for fabulous juice. Hope the weekend gets better

Went to Walgreens Thursday and they had Schick Intuition razors on clearance. I bought 2 for $2.49 each. I had a $4 coupon so I got both for .49 each.

    • I admit paying full price for children’s tylenol too….when you need it you need it. :-) No guilt!

    • This was my first BIG week couponing…and I AM HOOKED! This is how I did:

Publix – paid $42 for $115 worth of stuff.

Highlights: 18 1 pound boxes of Muellers pasta, 10 boxes of cereal, 4 tombstone pizzas @ $2.99 a piece. I’m going back for more pasta, this coupon is great ( http://pastavalue.com/ ), makes it 36 cents a box!

BiLo – paid $19 for $46 worth of stuff.

Highlight: Gillete series shave gel for FREE, Pompeiian Olive Oil for $1.69/16 oz. bottle.

WalMart – paid $57 for $84 worth of stuff. My goal is too phase out WalMart trips all together (it’s too tempting in there) but this week I did well with coupons and price matching.

So all in all, I have my groceries for the week, a stockpile of pasta and cereal, and some extras like deodorant and toothpaste too. And I know I’ll do even better now that I’ve got the hang of this! I could never have done this well without Southern Savers! Thank you Jenny!

    • I agree. When you need Children’s Tylenol, you plain old need it. I can save some by buying the store brand or stocking up on it at Costco, which has it dirt cheap.

Had a great time at kroger…. 20 mcormick seas.. and 2 angel soft toilet tissue for 0.67

I also did walgreens with 6 vaseline lotion, 3 filler candy bars (bad idea because I ate them, :) oop was 5.22 since I only had the $1 off coupons. But still a great deal for $16 worth of lotion.

I appreciate this post. It affirms what we all know to be true that it takes TIME to stragize and save. Our life has been a bit chaotic and our expenses have been up a bit, but this week I felt that I was able to reel things in a bit. I’ve reorganized my coupons and was able to scout out some savings this week on grocery, household and home decor. All in all a good week.

    • I am so proud of ALL of us for making the effort to do this couponing work. For me at least it would not be possible without Jenny’s help, but we are saving so much and I am so happy about that! It is worth the time investment for the smile on hubby’s face and in my heart!
