Frugal Date Friday - Southern SaversFor this addition of Frugal Date Friday, you can bring out your inner historian. Head to a local museum or historic home and take a tour!

To make it even more frugal, look into discounts for your destination of choice. Many museums and historic sites will offer discounted admission certain days of the week.

This is a great way to be involved in the community and learn together! If you live near Columbia, SC this is a fun option!

If you are going to take the kids along, many sites offer free admission for children under 5 and discounts for older children.

After your tour, you can head to a local ice cream or coffee shop to talk about all the great things you learned and share stories from your past.

Date nights are tricky with little kids (as I’m sure you know!). I’d love to have a series of “dates with kids.” Sometimes, my husband and I feel more like a team of daycare workers than a married couple! Tonight the fair starts– that would be a good frugal date night, and the kids can go, too!

Easley, SC World Series Little League baseball game!!! It comes to our town every year. Always a great way to see up and coming baseball players. I remember watching Joey Pankake play a couple of years ago. Now he plays for USC. My kids are that age so I know a lot of the kids anyway. (age 16-18)

    • Love it! With Burger King ice cream cones only $.50 this summer, we’ve enjoyed a number of them as treats. :-) Thanks for sharing!

Nobody says you need to leave home for frugal dates! Jenny, how about an article about putting the kids to bed early (or in front of a movie if they’re old enough), and “escaping at home”? Movie night, dinner on the deck, read all your old letters (or saved emails?),mom puts everyone to bed while dad gets chinese carryout. The possibities are endless. (an extension on this is trading with another family and staying in your house or their house overnight while they keep all the kids. Then you return the favor a couple weeks later!)
