Frugal Date Friday - Southern SaversThis week for Frugal Date Friday we are heading to the Farmer’s Market! There is a ton of great produce in season right now. This makes it a great time to pick up your favorite produce or try something new.

To find a Farmer’s Market in your area, you can go here.  Many Farmer’s Markets also sell jams, honey, fish, meat, eggs, bread, and more. Don’t forget your cash and reusable grocery tote though!

If shopping the local Farmer’s Market is something you do every week, you can make it special by purchasing a special treat. For example, we love to get figs and goat cheese, but can’t afford it every week.

When you get home, you can make a healthy and delicious meal using the items you purchased. Keep in mind that if you don’t know how to cook something, a farmer is a great person to ask.

If you take the kids along, you can allow them to pick out some items and participate in the cooking. It is a great way to teach children about healthy eating!
