Memorial Day Sales

Memorial Day weekend is always a fun time of remembering what our great country is about and enjoy time with family. With an extra day off it might also mean getting out and tackling some shopping during Memorial Day sales.  We see certain types of products on sale right now and holiday weekends are a big time to save.

Keep in mind that this is the last big holiday weekend (= big sales) until Fourth of July.

Lawn & Garden

The planting season is underway for most of us and Memorial Day sales include many outdoor products.  Home Depot and Lowe’s tend to have just about the same stuff on sale so you can pick your favorite. If you signed up for Home Depot emails you may have a $5 off $50 or $10 off $100 purchase coupon sitting in your inbox that you can redeem at either store (Lowe’s takes competitor coupons!)

Right now there are plenty of deals on patio furniture, plants, potting soil, and even outdoor power equipment.  Here are some examples from Lowe’s right now:

Grills

How did your grill hold up this Winter?  If you’re now realizing you really need a grill, this is an okay time to buy one.  We actually see the best prices on grills in October (after peak grill-buying season), but if you’re in need then go ahead and grab one.  You can’t have a successful Summer without a grill, right?

Again, you can check Lowe’s and Home Depot for some grill deals as well as places like Sears.  Here are some I found:

Appliances

Most holiday weekends will have at least some decent deals on appliances.  Stores will have appliances marked down and often times you can combine that with rebates.

Just about all stores are at least worth a peek.  This year Sears has up to 30% off, H.H. Gregg has up to 25% off, while Lowe’s and Home Depot have a disappointingly low 10% off. Don’t forget most store also price match appliances if you find a better deal at another store.

Clothing

This time of year can be tricky for parents with younger kids.  You may think your child or children have Summer clothes and then you realize they grew 2 feet over the Winter.

Even for adults, Memorial Day sales can mean good deals on swimsuits and other Summer gear.  Again, this isn’t the best time to buy (we like after Summer clearances sales), but there are certainly plenty of good deals, especially when you stack on local coupons.

I’ve already posted deals for Aeropostale, but there are also deals at JCPenney (extra 20% off), The Children’s Place (up to 60% off), Carter’s (up to 60% off), Belk (up to 50% off), and I’m sure there are more!

If you know of any more good deals to grab this weekend please leave a comment to share with the rest of us!
