This morning I am on a mission with my dear friends at Operation Christmas Child to take over Manhattan and get the word out about Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes!  As I write this I am getting ready to walk to the Good Morning America show, plus we have other members of our team hitting the other morning news shoes.  We’ll be walking New York singing carols, taking pictures and talking Christmas.

For more information on Operation Christmas Child go here.

I would love to have you join me virtually today!  Follow me on Twitter for pictures and to see who all we bump into, or follow the entire event on ShoeBoxBlitz.com.  You can see where all 100 boxes are in NYC, plus videos, tweets and more!

If you haven’t packed a box yet, it is very easy to do.  Grab any show box or plastic tub and load it up with everything you think a child would love.  These get sent to over 100 countries to children who have never received a gift in their life.  I helped pass them out in Haiti earlier this year and still remember crying as we struggled to convince the kids that these were their gifts to keep.  To see just how easy it is to pack a box watch a short video I made (with a few personal notes on special things to include).

On a fun note, we have a person dressed as a shoe box for each country OCC sends shoe boxes too.  So I’m representing Iraq today!

wow! the only thing i accomplished at 5:30 this morning was letting the dog out . so proud of you.

    • GAGirl

Jenny this is terrific!  You do so much to help people and we all appreciate it!  Your site is one of the first I check every morning and several times throughout the day.  One person CAN make a difference.

    • Ludki

God bless you and your family!!! Thanks a lot for everything!!!

    • Kristie

Our family always does this each year. Each one of our children fill a box and we even fill one in memory of the baby we lost (he/she is still a part of the family).  It is such a blessing each year to do this.  It would just top things off to see the little faces who receive the boxes.  Thank you for all you do and all you represent.  May God continue to bless you and your family!

    • Debbie

I think I just saw you on the Today Show!

    • Martha

    • Lattinhome

Just saw the boxes as Nancy Grace got her groove on! Good job ladies!

    • Fiona

Oh I think I saw y’all on GMA. The whole time I was wondering why those people were dressed up like juice boxes…

    • Angelascoupons1

Just did my two shoeboxes today!  What a great cause!  Now you can even track your box as it goes around the world and see where it ends up.  My kids are excited about this!

    • Beth Barnhill

I saw someone dressed in a green Operation Christmas Child box walking behind Ann Curry while she was giving a report on the Today show earlier this morning! Cool!

    • Brookeforrest1

i just saw y’all on today!

    • Nancy

What a fantastic representative of OCC you are, Jenny!  I saw the lady on GMA and was hoping Robin Roberts or Sam Champion would interview her.  Enjoy NYC!!

    • Amysch77

My husband and I finished shopping for our boxes last night at Dollar Tree so they are ready to go. Have fun in NYC-hope you get to see some sights while you are spreading such a great message.

    • Mandy

We love doing this too! And this year my husband and I are volunteering at the Charlotte processing center. I do wonder how you get to help in NYC and how my family could get the great opportunity to work with occ to hand out boxes!

    • Allison

Already sent out three this year. :) Love this program!

    • I handed in my four to a friend’s church that was collecting – it was really fun this year to see how much I could get for free or under a dollar. I ended up filling four boxes with some really nice stuff thanks to Jenny here and a few other deal sites :) I spent $18 total, two boxes for tweens and two boxes for toddlers!

I normally do this every year, but this year there are children literally in my own back yard that do not have the neccessities of life much less a christmas. They literally live next to me, so I decided to concentrate my efforts this year on helping this family.

Jenny I commend you and others for your efforts.

    • Nurserobyn96

Jenny, I want to do this next year.  How would I go about getting signed up or whatever??

      • Krazeymae

Nurseobyn96, I’m sure that you can find a church or group in your area that is supporting this. My church for example is, and we have been advertising it and have the 13th as a drop off date. So if you watned to even, you could gather what you have, fill a box and take it to somewhere this weekend. :)

        • Nurserobyn96

Thanks for your reply Krazeymae.  I volunteer at the OCC processing center a few times each year, my family enjoys putting together the shoeboxes too.  What I was actually asking about was the trip to NYC to raise awareness.

    • Krazeymae

My moms club did 26 boxes as a service project this year! I am so proud of them! We literally filled my trunk to take to my church’s drop off!

Operation Christmas Child is a great program and it never dawned on me that everyone did not already know about it. So glad you are the one telling them. The outfit is awesome and you are awesome for putting yourself out there for such a great program.

    • Elle

Jenny, you look adorable as a box!   Thank you for all your help saving my family money – you have made it possible for us to donate much more than we could have in my pre-couponing days.  OCC is awesome & so are you!
