Organic Living

First, good news.  I know many have been asking for all the old posts in this Organic Living series.  And Jenny has happily obliged by assembling all the links here for you!  Thanks, Jenny!

I hope this will be a great resource for you to be able to find articles that were helpful and to go back and read some that you missed the first time around.

I wanted to let you all know too just how much I have enjoyed  this organic living journey with you.  I’m sad to say that there are some pressing things happening in our family that need my time and attention.  However, I am thrilled though to be able to hand off the baton of this journey to my college roommate, Mariana.

She has actually been the one to talk me through the scientific aspects on tons of these posts.  Her mother’s heart plus scientist’s brain make her a perfect fit to help us all continue to make baby steps.  I am very excited to continue learning from her!

Thank you all for teaching me so much and for your patience as I learn with you.  I am grateful that I’ve had this opportunity.

Is there a place I can find your 12 basic recipies for dinner. Or your 3 breakfast recipies. I am thankful for all your research.

      • amysanders

so funny, i don’t remember mentioning 12/3 meals. off the cuff, my top three breakfast meals are:
        1. muffins from fresh ground wheat (or oat muffins for my newly gluten-free boy). i make them in bulk and freeze them.
        2. homemade granola (i use the basic granola recipe from chow dot com and use olive oil instead of vegetable oil)
        3. eggs and toast.

        top 12 dinner meals:
a whole chicken-ina has a great recipe that i’ve tweaked
breakfast for dinner-eggs, grits, fruit, bacon or french toast and fruit
roast in the dutch oven with carrots and potatoes
Salisbury steak with mashed potatoes (a great way to use up the cube steak from our cow)
shish kabobs from stew meat (marinated in zesty italian for several days) on the grill with peppers, mushrooms, etc. served over rice
burgers on wheat buns (can you tell it is summertime with all these grilled recipes!)
        chicken pot pie
chili (leftovers used for chili cheese potatoes or chili hot dogs!)
        taco soup
        meatloaf and potatoes with veggies
all of this normally has some sort of veggies added and we rarely do dessert. if there is any of that that you would want specific recipes for, let me know! hope that helps.

Thank you for all your articles. Our family has changed some of our eating habits and buying practices as a result of the knowledge that you have shared. Hope everything is ok with your family! Does anyone know of a “Buy Price” grocery list for organic? I’m still new to purchasing organic and want to know that I’m getting the best prices in a sale cycle.

      • amysanders

so grateful that God would use my journey to encourage your family. thanks for taking the time to share that. as far as a Buy Price list, i would encourage you to start your own “buy” list. you’ll know exactly what you are looking for. (that’s what i’ve started doing since i don’t have a clue what the best price is either!) anybody want to create an organic buy list for all of us?? :)

      • yourbilletdoux

I have pictures on my phone of the organic items at Costco, I’m thinking of using those as a baseline for pricing.
