I love the long sleeve versions, and have one that says “Choose Joy”. It’s a phrase I say at least 10 times a day to my older girls. The older they get the more we jump to drama and tears at the slightest thing. So my response back… “Choose Joy”.
It doesn’t mean that deep down my heart is always joyful, but I do want them to see that we have a choice in how we are feeling. Making the effort to choose joy usually always changes the attitude of your heart too. It also reminds me of one of my favorite song verses:
“There is a joy in the journey,
There’s a light we can love on the way.
There is a wonder and wildness to life,
And freedom for those who obey.”

How are you doing with regular family meal nights?
We recently had NBC come by the house to film and one of the shots they wanted was the entire family sitting down to eat a meal. My girls thought this was so strange since we do that every night, why would they need us to “pretend” to do it on camera. We had a long discussion about how for some families it’s a rare moment but for us it was normal because we made a priority. While we may not eat every meal together, we aim for at least 5 nights a week sitting and having family meals. The best meals…. really do happen at home.
