Thinking about taking a trip this summer? Vacations can be pricey but they don’t have to be! Here are some cheap summer vacation spots to check out.

Grand Canyon – While this isn’t a place you might first think of as inexpensive, it actually can be! Hotels in the area can be pricey, but you can camp at the local campground. You also don’t necessarily need a car for your visit. You can use their FREE Shuttle Service which is the best way to explore the South Rim. Hiking is another great option too! There are also on-site cafeterias in the South Rim, and planning towards the end of August for affordability.

Albuquerque – This is a fun and affordable city with a lot of festivals throughout the year. The bus system ABQ Ride offers bus service throughout the greater metro area which is a great way to explore the city plus check out this website for affordable vacation packages, activities for $10 or less, and more.

Fort Myers- This is a nice area to be by the beach, but isn’t as crowded as come of its neighbors. It has dozens of wildlife and nature preserves around the area, plus numerous campgrounds and RV parks, such as Koreshan State Historic Site. Do note downtown Fort Myers is 30 miles from the closest beach. You can even catch your own dinner whether it’s fish, shrimp or other seafood. Traveling March through May in springtime is the most affordable time.

Williamsburg – If you’re not looking to save with camping and hiking, but want an affordable family vacation, Williamsburg can be a good option. The Jamestown Ferry is free to ride and travels between Jamestown and Scotland, on the southern riverbank. You can also buy a combo pack so you can visit multiple historical sites and amusement parks for a cheaper price. There are also nearby cities of Jamestown and Yorktown that include monuments to some of the best-known figures of our colonial history so plenty of things to do!

Boca Raton – While many people think of this as the snow bird’s haven and an affluent town, its lowest hotel prices of the year come summertime so it’s a good option if you’re looking for affordable beach prices. Local attractions include Mizner Park, the Gumbo Limbo Nature Center and Sugar Sand Park which are all FREE. You can travel around by foot or use the Downtowner, a free ride service.
