question from our reader, how to use food stamps and coupons

I have had a few questions about how using food stamps work with coupons. While I’m not an expert in this area, I know that coupons should work great with food stamps. I have friends that have left over food stamps at the end of the month because they have stretched their savings with coupons.

Sadly though, things don’t always work so well.

A recent e-mail I got asked a question about eCoupons and Catalina Deals:

“If you have any E-coupons or a store/manufacturer promotion that gives an amount off when you purchase a certain amount of items.  For example, Bi-lo was running the Kraft promo that gives you $6 off instantly wyb 10 items.  I also had a P&G catalina for $1.00 off.  At the end of the transaction, the total amount charged to my EBT card was $7 more than my actual total and the cashier handed my $7.00 back.

At Harris Teeter today, I had $1.40 in e-coupons which resulted in the change due back to me.  However, the manager refused to give it to me.  So now, my $1.40 in savings is still sitting in the cashiers drawer, my EBT card was charged $1.40 more than it should be & I lost $1.40 in e-coupons that I can not get back.”

So what are your thoughts on this? Have you ran into any issues using store promotions, coupons, e-coupons and food stamps? What is your experience with couponing and using food stamps?

Many of you have asked about making money or earning rewards online and here is a easy opportunity!

Synovate is currently accepting applications.  Sign up if you are interested as there are a limited number of spots, and then surveys and opportunities will start to come to your email.  Most surveys will take 5-10 minutes to complete, but the best part to me is that you can stop in the middle of it and come back when you get a second.

When you register, you’ll also get 500 bonus points to get started!  You should also get a survey within a few minutes for another 250 points.

This is one company that I have used in the past (when I had more free time).  They do send you good opportunities and we even got full size products to review and give feedback on.

On a side note: You will not get rich from any online survey companies, just think of this as easy Starbucks or date night money.

                Coupon Insert Variations 3/18

                on 3.21.2012 at 4:40pm
                4 Comments

Here are the differences in the coupon inserts you received Sunday 3/18/12.

Click on the paper near you to see what coupons were actually in the inserts around the Southeast. Check out the differences to really get an idea of what paper is the best to buy.

A few ways to use these lists:

                1. If you see that you did not get a coupon that was released, you can go to online coupon sites and order it.
                2. Print the list for your area and keep it with your inserts to quickly know if you have that coupon.
                3. Use it as a way to decide what paper is the best paper in your area to buy.

                A legend for the list:

Black = You got this coupon!
Red = Not in this insert
Blue = A change in value or a new coupon not in the preview.
