Is 47 cents the best deal we can expect this season? Or should I wait a week or so?

    • esyke623

Does anyone know how the Jennie-O frozen turkeys are? I’ve never tried one, but they are 35 cents a pound at food lion this week wyb $35 of groceries . . . I might go for one if I knew how they tasted . . .

      • esyke623

At least, our Food Lion in VA has them 35 cents a pound– I see they are marked higher, above. Maybe it depends on the area . . .

        • judy

They are .49 cents a pound here in SC. I like the Jenny O brand, and I think it was the best one I’ve cooked.

      • Lana

They are as good as any other turkey I have had.

      • denis

        They’re good!

Am I the only one whose Publix ad is the free turkey with (just) A FLU SHOT? Nowhere on the in-ad coupon does it says “or with a new or transferred prescription”. I live in Alabama. Thank you! Still love Publix though! :)

      • Kim

I am in Florida and checked my coupon, it states only good in FL, GA, TN, and SC. So I would assume the AL stores are not participating in that part?

I did have to point out a couple of things to the pharmacy tech. She first tried to tell me it was for the flu shot and wanted me to fill out an immunization form, which I wasn’t getting. I was getting a prescription. Then she tried to tell me it couldn’t be for a transferred prescription from another Publix, since my husband had once had a prescription with Publix like 4 years ago, and on a different insurance, but for the same medicine. But that was moot point anyway because this was a brand new prescription that he’d just gotten from his doctor last week. She had to ask a pharmacist, who confirmed what I was saying. THEN when I paid, they almost didn’t give the coupon back, I checked the bag and didn’t see it, so I had to ask for it back.

        • Geesh! You’d think the pharm tech was paying for it out of her own pocket! Glad you got your turkey!

      • Judy

it’s against the law in Alabama (started June 2011) Same with earning fuel points and discounts, we don’t get them.

        (h) A pharmacist should never offer or participate in the offering a
financial award or benefit, not related to competitive retail pricing of
any drug, to induce or encourage any individual to transfer a
prescription from one pharmacy to another.
        Author: Herb Bobo, R.Ph. Secretary
Statutory Authority: Code of Alabama 1975; §34-23-92.

Does anyone know how Walmart determines who is a competitor? For example, there is not a Harris Teeter near us, would they consider it a competitor?

    • Whole Foods has Turkeys $.99/lb today. They are flash frozenand will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, so you don’t have to put them in the freezer.

    • BJ’s is offering a free turkey when you purchase 4 additional food items. The offer is good through Wednesday–coupon available at the door.

    • I just tried to do the transfer prescription thing in Alabama and the lady said I couldnt because it’s against the law. Is this true? Has anyone in Alabama got their turkey?

I recently got my free turkey from Publix and had no problem with the pharmacy. However, the cashier tried to give me attitude when I handed him the coupon. He first stated that he didn’t think it was the correct brand to which I pointed out that it was Publix brand as the coupon states. Then he tried to use the excuse that the turkey could only be 16lbs and I told him that if he checked the tag, he would see it was only 14.23lbs. He finally accepted the coupon but not before sighing as if he was pay the $32.01 for my turkey! I followed all the rules that Publix set and did not see the point of the cashier acting this way. This occured at one in Florida.

Our local Wal-mart policy is the “competitor” has to be within a 30 mile radius from the store. Our HT barely made it within the radius, but saves me A TON on groceries. I brought in a Publix ad the first time, but the store is 35 miles away so they couldn’t honor it. Still, Steamfresh veggies norm. price of $1.00 at Wally, but HT had them for B1G1, so I got them for 50 cents each. Didn’t have any coupons, but that was a great deal!
