Giveaway Update

Remember a couple of months ago when we posted a giveaway for FREE groceries for 4 winners?  4 Southern Savers readers won a $50 gift card to the store of their choice, and all they had to do was report back to us saying how far they stretched their $50.

Sandra is one of the four winners and she used a spreadsheet to map out her shopping trip, but don’t forget that you can use the Southern Savers listmaker.  She won a $50 Publix gift card, and here’s what she reported back to us:

I love shopping at Publix, it’s true what they say in their commercial, they are really “couponer friendly” (at least the store I go to).  When I started this challenge, I created a spreadsheet with all the items I was going to purchase.  I went through my coupons and started adding all the items together & deducting all of the coupons I was going to use. It took a little bit of time, but soooooo worth it. I bought $110.92 worth of products for $52.16 (I had a $5.00 off any $50 or more Publix coupon), I ended up using $2.16 out of my pocket. I’ve learned that doing a spreadsheet goes a long way and really helps.I put the items in order they are located in the store, so it took me like 20 mins. to get everything. From now on, I’m going to do the spreadsheet, it might take a little bit, but my time at the store is short.

On a side note, I was not expecting any Digital Coupon to be used.  Force of habit, I always enter my phone number when they start scanning my items.  I was quite surprised when I saw it on my receipt.

I’m so impressed that Sandra doubled the money she was given and that it included milk, produce, and meat!  I am all about people seeing that you really can buy the things you need and want and save over 50% on a regular basis!

How much do you think you could save with $50?
