ways to make money at home

Want to make a little extra money for Christmas? Here are 6 ways to make money from home.

These are easy and quick, plus some helps you get rid of clutter around the house!  Remember the amount that you make is completely dependent on your motivation and effort… you gotta work for it!

6 Ways to Make Money From Home

  1. Clean out your closet and sell to second hand stores.
Shoes, clothes and accessories are all accepted at local used clothing stores like Clothes Mentor or Platos Closet. Don’t have a store in your area?  Sell online to ThredUp.  Name brand clothing earns more money, but anything they accept they pay for.
  2. Sell random items on eBay  or Facebook Groups
You will be amazed what you can sell on eBay!  Sell toilet paper tubes, egg cartons and old magazines… or go bigger and sell old cameras, phones and computers that don’t work.  This truly is one persons junk is another’s treasure.  An old laptop that doesn’t even work can still get around $40-$50.  Get rid of furniture and other larger items through local Facebook groups or Craigslist.
  3. Mystery Shopping
Earn an easy $20 bucks to get your oil changed, plus they pay for the oil change!  There are tons of local mystery shopping jobs in many cities.  Get paid to go to Best Buy, local banks… the list is endless.  For how to get started check out a recent post I did on how to make money mystery shopping.
  4. Offer Your Services to Friends and Friends of Friends
The holidays are a busy time for everyone, so take advantage of someone else’s busyness and offer to help them out with things they don’t have time for.  The classic babysitting works, or offer to help organize closets, wrap presents, shop (couponers this could be an easy one for you), walk dogs, run their car to get the oil change (get a mystery shop for it and double dip)… the list is endless.  Don’t forget about tutoring!
  5. Get Crafty and Sell It
Let’s face it, we all want to be Martha Stewart and some of us will never be.  If you are amazing at flowers, make wreaths and sell them to friends.  Think Christmas decorations to maximize on peoples love for the holiday.  If you are amazing with graphics then prints with sweet sayings or Bible verses go over great too.  Sell to friends and then get brave enough to sell through Etsy or other online sites.
  6. Look for Rewards Apps That Pay
Turn your web browsing into money with Swagbucks.   You earn points as you search for things online and then redeem them for gift cards.  Offline use the ShopKick app and earn “Kicks” for walking into stores you are already going to, or scanning barcodes in the store of specific products.  Redeem your Kicks for gift cards.  For example you’ll get 100 kicks to walk into Bestbuy plus other kicks if you make a purchase.  500 kicks = $2 in gift cards.  It adds up fast though!

Here’s to living with no debt!!
