It’s a small ad for CVS for the first part of next week.  I would focus on the free contact solution and the diapers if you need them.  I have worked up a small scenario, though it is nothing special for just the weekly deals.  I would personally recommend going in for the the black Friday deals and if you need the diapers get those then, I worked up a big plan for that.  It is a lot more than my usual 3 or 4 transactions but the goal was to keep the out of pocket very low!

    • Carrie

All of these deals excite me when you get ECB’s for the same price as the product. This is where swapping ECBs for ECBs is fun! And for the first time Jenny, I actually can look at your CVS or Walgreens list and create scenerios on my own now (yay!) after following so closely for 3 months. I thought I’d never get the hang of it!

The cashiers even know me when I show up. ; )

      • Bobbie

Please tell me how you do it. I go in with a seraniro and if they don’t have one item it messes me all up. I take forever clipping my coupons and getting everything together. Guess I’m just getting older and slower. Thanks for any help.

        • Kim

I used to get really frustrated. My coupons weren’t the same or I didn’t add it up right. I am getting better at giving myself some grace when I mess up. I also write out my own list, with tax, based on the coupons I do have and the things I really need/want. And then I take my time. Still last week bought the wrong Dimetapp at Rite-aid and didn’t get the rebate. But still ended up only being $2. Anyway, just go slow and do what you can. You aren’t alone.

          • Bobbie

Thanks for the help. I’ve messed up at Rite Aid also but they are good about refunding when it doesn’t show up on my rebate when I submit them. I loved the rebates but this rolling is really confusing to keep from spending as little as posslble.

            • http://SouthernSavers Peggy

I also have been having these same problems with Rite-Aid. It’s getting to be a huge hassle! I stopped doing their rebates for a long time but started back last month. Now I remember why I stopped.

    • Molly

Do they give Rain Checks for Black Friday Deals?

      • min

if it says no rainchecks then no. seasonal products they do not give rainchecks for due to no guarantee that we will get more of that product in.

        • Sara

Just a note about seasonal items…. they did give me a raincheck for the candy corn deal (actually gave me 2) and they never had back in while I was there this season. But they told me that the rainchecks never expire so I can just hang on and use them next year.

    • Jess

Just curious to know, from those who have been to CVS on Black Friday in the past, do they run out of stock really quickly? Do you have to be there when they open? Do they do rainchecks, or is it one day only/while supplies last?

      Thanks for the info.

      • elizabeth

Last year you pretty much had to be there when they opened to get everything, but the limits were a lot higher. I don’t even know if I’m going to bother going through all that this year for 1 of each.

        • Sheila

They do give rainchecks and I believe they will last for a year. They don’t always get that item back in stock though.

      • Rita

Coming from someone who worked there for almost 16 years, the answer is, you had best be one of the first 5 in line in order to get their super great deals especially electronics items! The warehouse ships out the quantities based on the sales of that particular store so if the store you are going to is not one of their “top selling” stores, then they will do REALLY well to get 5 of each item in. At the store I used to work at, there were many years where we only got 2 of the big sellers!!! Their plan works though, almost everyone is dissappointed when they can’t get the item (and in most cases-can’t get a raincheck either) but they almost ALWAYS wind up buying something else while they are there so CVS still make their profit. I would NOT want to be the cashiers that work on Black Friday. CVS sets them up to get harassed by the customers. Please be kind to them. It’s not their fault and I used to be one of them and know how it feels.

    • Tina

Jenny, can you please tell me the zip code for the colgate 360 toothbrush? Thanks so much

      • Michelle

Yes, I’d like to know that, too. I’ve tried several different zip codes, and all I see is a .75¢ coupon.

        • LD

If you go to colgate site and click on offers tab top of page you can get the coupon there .

    • k

I posted this last night on last weeks ad but it didn’t show up. so, here it is again.

ugh! cvs and I have a love/hate relationship. Tonight it’s hate. I bought some shampoo almost 2 months ago and I’ve tried to return it 3 times (including today).

The first time I actually tried to exchange it, I was in a hurry and I picked up the wrong time of shampoo and I just wanted to exchange it for a different kind (same brand, same price) the problem was that I couldn’t find the receipt and they wouldn’t let me do it.

The second time I tried to return it, I had the receipt and it was about a month after I bought it. I’d already repurchased the shampoo elsewhere (for a better price) and they refused to give me the full amount for them because I’d paid with ECBs. They were only going to give me about $1 for 2 bottles of shampoo that are regularly priced $6.99 at CVS (they were on sale for $4.99 when I bought them). I told them that that was insane and that they should be able to give me a gift card with the full amount on it. They refused and told me that I was wrong. I called the number on my card and confirmed that they were wrong and that they should be able to give me the full amount on a gift card or money card. Or that they could print out a coupon, like ECBs, for me.

I went in tonight to try again to return the shampoo because I’m about out of time and again there was drama. The cashier said that he needed to talk to his manager (who I think hates me because I almost never spend more than $1 at a time in CVS) before returning it because I’d only spent a little over $1. I told him that I’d accidentally purchased the wrong thing and I was never able to return/exchange it, so the next time I saw it on sale, I just repurchased it. I said that I really just wanted to get my money on a gift card so that I could spend it later on something else. He called his manager over and she asked me what was going on. I told her that I’d bought it and it was the wrong thing and blah blah blah, and that I just wanted a gift card. I also mentioned that I’d bought with hopes that I’d get ECBs and for some reason I never actually got them. She told me that since I paid with ECBs I really should’ve returned it that day. I told her that the woman I spoke to on the phone told me that I should be able to return it anytime at any CVS before the date on the receipt. She finally gave me the money on a money card but she told me that next time I really need to try to return it that day because that way they could give me back my ECBs and coupons.

Has anyone else had a problem like this before? I never return stuff that I buy because I almost always get a really great deal on it. I just really didn’t want this shampoo because it was the wrong kind and I had NO use for it at all. There are SO many things that I could try to return and get lots of money back but I’ve never even tried, or thought to try, before this. I could see if I was a person who was in there every other week returning stuff that was free the week before that I might have a problem but I’m not at all like that. I go to CVS at least once a week and I buy stuff almost every week. For the last 2-3 months I’ve been getting at least $20 worth of stuff per week. I think that this store just hates couponers and people who roll their ECBs.

Sorry for the rant. I’m just extremely frustrated.

      • Cheri

If you are like me, I would guess you probably have several bottles of shampoo at home that you do like. I don’t think it’s worth the stress and the tension when week after week we can walk away with a load of stuff and spend barely anything. I honestly don’t think that CVS should be expected to return things when we didn’t actually have to pay for it out of pocket. It would be really nice, but I think they could be opening themselves up to be taken advantage of. I’d just donate the shampoo and be thankful you didn’t waste cash on it. Someone else will be thankful for it.

      • Emily

I have to agree with Cheri. I don’t mean this to be critical, but it seems like you’re getting very upset about something that’s relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. Jenny helps us get amazing deals on so many items every week, so my advice would be to let this particular frustration go. I think donating the shampoo is an excellent suggestion.

        • k

Normally if they wouldn’t let me exchange it, I would’ve just kept it or donated it like suggested. But this was an unusual situation. My ECBs didn’t print out. I spent $3 in coupons and $12 in ECBs thinking that I’d be getting $5 back. The sale was spent $15, get $5 and CVS didn’t keep up their end of the deal. I pointed it out to the cashier the day that I bought them and he told me that I needed to spend 2 more cents to get the ECBs. I told him that that was weird because they usually print out when it’s that close. I had to get another coupon to buy the next bottle and when I went back to buy it, the ECBs didn’t print out either. I was told I had to call the 800 number on my card and the person I spoke to on the phone told me to talk to the manager of my store. She also told me that if they wouldn’t print out the ECBs for me that I could just return the items I purchased. I know that there are probably lots of people that take advantage of the situation but the manager of my store knows me and knows that I’m not one of those people (I do think that she doesn’t love couponers though). I’ve never returned anything to CVS. I’m not losing sleep over it or anything and I was really only frustrated over it for maybe an hour. It’s just annoying to me how unfriendly some stores are to couponers.

          • Jason

If you call corporate and explain it to them, they will probably issue the ECBs. They did this for me when I misunderstood the Halloween candy deal — the signage in store said the $5/20 ECB offer was good “10/4 – 10/24”, so I spread my $20 buying over 2 weeks. I had no idea it would reset every week. I called corporate and they issued the $5 ECBs.

Corporate is really the place to go for ECB issues, and if they won’t fix it, you’re probably out of luck. I’ve never found CVS stores to have much knowledge or control over ECBs.

The issue with returning something purchased with a store coupon isn’t unique to CVS. Stores generally don’t refund coupons, even store coupons (Bed, Bath, and Beyond is the only store I’ve *ever* been to that would re-issue a store coupon). There are a lot of reasons for this, but one is that it allows customers to convert expiring store coupons into non-expiring gift cards by buying items they don’t want and returning them. I know you weren’t trying to do this, but that’s one rationale behind preventing it — and that rationale often has more to do with employees abusing the system than customers. If this sort of return were allowed, there would be nothing to stop employees, who are at the store all day, to sit around converting store coupons to store credit in their spare time. Most employees, like most customers, are honest, but some can be very creative in finding ways to defraud the store. So it could be that even the manager isn’t allowed to do that type of return.

            • k

I tried calling corporate and they told me that since I’d only spent $14.98, I wasn’t eligible for the ECBs. She told me that if I wanted to speak to the manager of my store, they should issue it, but it wasn’t CVS’s policy to issue them unless you spend the full amount required for the sale. I told her that they usually will print off when it’s that close. She apologized for not being able to help and suggested that if I couldn’t get the store to give me the ECBs that I should just return the items.

I tried getting my ECBs from one of the managers from my store and she wouldn’t not give them to me. I tried to return them and she was only going to give me the $1 back. I requested that she give me a gift/money card for the remainder and she told me that the system would not allow her to do that. I called corporate again and I was told that if you make a purchase with ECBs and/or coupons that you can still return it and that you should be given a money card for the amount of ECBs/coupons used, or they can make the register print off a coupon (like an ECB) to compensate you for the difference.

It all worked out fine in the end, with a little arguing I got the money back on a money card. I really hate having to be pushy but I do believe that the store should be following the corporate policy.

      • The Mentalist

ok… This how it works. ECBs are actually manufact. promotions, not CVS. Manufact. pitch in a great deal to pick the tab in order to promote their products. ECBs are not much different from manufc. coupons. This is all about marketing.

When you pay with manufac. coupons, you are paying the price for the products. CVS does not have to worry about it. CVS is getting its money for the full face value of the coupon plus 8 cents handling. If you purchase something with manuf. Q’s and you need to return it, CVS must give you the money either cash or credit for your part of the ppayment and must issue store credit for the manuf. coupon value. This is because CVS has already cashed the coupons and pocketed that money on your behalf. On your return, they cant give you the coupon back, so legally ther are obliged to give you the credit. If they refuse to give you the coupon back or the store credit, then they must make sure that they return the manuf. payment to them-which does not happen.

Moreover, ECBs are also the same. When you use ECBs, it is still supposedly your own money that you paid earlier. Therefore, ECBs also must be issued as store credit.

With that said, you should be given the store credit for coupons or ECBs and return the rest of payment in full with cash or credit whatever you used. Also, if the store is having trouble understanding this basic concept, then just dont show the receipt and return w/o the receipt for full store credit amount. By not properly crediting you for Q’s, stores are calling for return w/o receipts.

I also think if they do not issue you manuf. coupon credit, then they must make sure that they return the original money to the manuf., or else you may legally challenge them.

Taking advantage, abuse and all of that is just secondary and there is no solid way of preventing the abuse, nor is it worth the effort and resources from CVS. In any case, CVS is not losing its money at all. If you are given the store credit for coupon values, it is the manuf. that is paying for it; and manuf. do not have the apetite to go recivering or implementing some mechanism for such small fraction of money that they already spend millions on marketing.

      • Heather

Goodness. That’s all I can say for getting so worked up over a bottle of shampoo that you didn’t really pay for. Give it to a neighbor or take it to your local nursing home. I am sure they’d love to have it.

        • Kat

Yeah. Just better for the heart, mind, soul, and sanity to just let some things go. A minor injustice.

          • M

I understand k’s point it wasn’t just two bottles of shampoo and it wasn’t free. She spent if I understand a total of at least $9.99 and that could go towards somthing else that is useful. I have a love-hate relationship with CVS also and her point is if you spend $10 in ECB and $2 in coupons you should at least get the ECB back in gift card or ect. I also do not understand there policy on overages on coupons because I myself ran a grocery store and handled all the coupons and sent to manufacturers I know CVS gets the full amount and not just what they give you so they only let you have $.75 off a $1 off coupon b/c that is sale price they still get the full $1. This on there part is coupon fraud and only get away with it b/c of being a chain store. So I agree with k completely with the hassel of trying to return it because it is no skin off CVS’s back to give a gift card b/c they will have the money spent there again.

        • Alison

Heather what part of my ECBs did not print do you not understand. Through both of k’s posts she plainly says that her ECB’s did not print. I would return something to if my ECB’s did not print, i’m not going to pay regular price for something that I was supposed to have gotten for free or close to it. If I did that then, all the time and effort I put into coupon shopping to save money would be wasted. There is not abuse here in any way and even if you did return something that you got for free and they give you a gift card CVS, walgreens whoever is not losing anything you have to spend that money there. So what’s that big deal? K you have every right to vent and I would not be happy too if that happened to me. You must be nicer than I am though cause I would have gotten my credit on day 1 if I had to call CS standing in the store to get it.

    • Tiffany

Has anybody else tried the Tums coupon link? I keep getting a message that says “you must enable cookies for this site code 401”.

      • sharon29_99

I just deleted the piece at the end of the web address that said something about session = true (something like that) and hit enter and it took me to the site. You have to register before it will give you the coupon tho!

        Sharon

        • Tiffany

          I got it. Thanks!

    • pharmSCgirl

Looking at all of the black friday deals on slick deals dot com, the one store that I would even want to be at when they open is CVS. How sad is that. I’m excited and just hope that the CVS’ in my hometown have a lot of stuff in stock!

    • http://thecouponnewbie.blogspot.com/ Julie

I think I’ll snag the Contact solution but we’ll be out of town over Thanksgiving… probably better that way; I can do 2-4 transactions at once to get freebies but more than that would overwhelm me! Still, great scenarios.

    • shelly

I’m not seeing the .40 Domino sugar coupon. Am I blind or is there a zip I need to enter to have it show up?

    • Amy

Also, the recent $5 off $20 coupon would make the diaper deal even more awesome! I saved mine like you had suggested, Jenny! Thanks for all your help!

      • Jenny

I saved mine too, but didn’t want to make a scenario with it in case others didn’t have it.

      • Katie

My store rejected the $5 off 20. Said it was a photocopy of a deal they had in Californina. :-(

    • LD

I think I will just make transactions starting with using my $5 off 20 and the free $5 when you buy 25 cvs gift card . Then I will use coupons and work each transaction out from there , using the ecb’s from the previous transaction . Brave for me lol as I still dont have cvs down well [compared to walgreens] . But am going to give it a try .

    • Jamie

Hey, I had a thought. I was looking at the ad and they have the Glade Spray for .99 each. If you buy 3 and use the B2G1Free coupon, Use the printable .75 off 2 coupon and then use the SC Johnson Rebate that was on the publix ad last week you can make around $3.75 or so. Am I correct in this assumption?

      • Vanessa

That looks right to me. I did this a few weeks ago with the scented oil candles and holders. The way I worked it out with all my coupons, I made over nine dollars!!!!YEAH!

    • http://faithfamilyfrugality.blogspot.com Alissabeth

I was going to ask where the BF deals were….lol. I see them. What time do they open for BF?

      • http://faithfamilyfrugality.blogspot.com Alissabeth

Free after ECB and coupons is awesome! I also know that I have the $1 off coupon for Herbal Essences from the free coupon they sent. It had the extra one on there as well….so that is free if you have that.

    • Alisha

Is anyone else on here having trouble printing the CVS lists?

      • http://faithfamilyfrugality.blogspot.com Alissabeth

Mine just printed fine. Maybe restart your browser?

        • Alisha

Thanks…I just selected the entire page and printed it that way.

    • http://faithfamilyfrugality.blogspot.com Alissabeth

Jenny, do you do all these deals in separate transactions on BF? I can hear the aggitation behind me already :-).

      • Esmelda

I was wondering that too :-).

        • sara

I was thinking…8 transactions is a lot…would it be more polite to do 1 or 2 and then get back in line for the next 2 and back in line and so on? Sounds like a lot of trouble, but if you/we are wanting all this stuff for basically free, I think it might be worth it! Just a thought.

Of course I would have all of my stuff already collected in my buggy!!

…this is of course assuming there is a line of people waiting.

          • sara

After a minute more of thought…

How dumb would i feel if I got back in line and the 8 people now in front of me were doing all 7 or 8 transaction at one time!!??!!

            • MW

Jenny said at her workshop that she always lets the person behind her go b/f another transaction – even during a normally shopping trip.

            • Carrie

That’s why I try to shop LATE, but even then it seems like people come in by the droves to buy the last minute must-have things. Maybe it’s a Mega Convenient Store without the fuel.

          • Jenny

Keep in mind that if your store is open 24 hrs you can do this at Mindight Friday morning. You will be the only person in line or else anyone behind you will be doing the same thing and you can just hang out and be friends.

I have to find out whether the CVS 30 minutes from my in-laws is a 24 hr or or not!

            • pharmSCgirl

Is it ridiculous that I feel guilty doing more than one transaction at any CVS. Usually I buy a few things in one transaction then I drive to the next CVS that might be a mile away. I guess I just don’t want to get on the clerks nerves. Does anyone else do this?

            • Lynn

              pharmSCgirl:

Yes, I do the same thing!LOL! Thought I was the only one with a guilty conscience.

            • J

There’s no reason to have a guilty conscience unless you have something to feel guilty about. You’re not doing anything wrong. Don’t waste the gas driving to another store, stand up for yourself!

            • Lisa

So you can just ask the clerk to ring things up in separate transactions and that’s not a problem? I’ve always just gone back a day later or another day but if it’s common to just ask to do several transactions then I might just do that now!

    • big john

ok i have 16 in ecbs right now . Come sunday i want to buy the 2 contact solutions total 17.98 minus 2-1 dollar coupons making 15.98. two questions 1 will i be able to do that and not have register pop and will it print me out 2 8.99’s as it is a limit of 2. Any help with this is appreciated if it were walgreeens i know answer.

      • sarah

They can down-grade your 16 ECB to 15.98…u pay the tax & then u should get one ECB for 17.98.

        • big john

thanks for the fast response sarah it seems since i put it in quotes it did not put in that it is a 10 a 4 and a 2 totaling 16 will that matter?

          • http://faithfamilyfrugality.blogspot.com Alissabeth

One coupon per item is accepted. Yes, it will print the two 8.99, but as one big one (17.98)…so you may want to separate transactions, if you don’t want that huge one. There is no limit on the ECB you can use. As long as it doesn’t go over your subtotal, you can use them. They don’t pay for tax here, so that is why they won’t let them apply to your grand total, only your subtotal. That of course varies by state, I know Jenny can use hers to pay for tax in SC.

            • Vanessa

My CVS lets you have as many coupons as you want. Of course they follow the standard stacking rules…one store coupon, one manufacturer coupon, etc. per item and ECBs do not count. They count as currency. Also, the ECBs pay tax at one store and not the other on the same road. Just because one in your city does, doesn’t mean they all do. Keep that in mind.

          • Ashley

Nope. You will just lose the two cents. :)

    • Kate

whoa, the black friday deals seem kind of overwhelming! I’m really going to have to study that list and start digging through my coupons!

    • http://gooddealandfreestuff.blogspot.com/ Liv

For black friday deal, can I go thursday midnight? I have a 24 hour CVS store nearby.

      • Jenny

Yep! I did last year in Tallahassee FL visiting family and had the store to myself, it was the most relaxed CVSing I’ve ever done.

    • Shannon

Not sure about this year. But last year CVS was open on Thanksgiving for limited hours and you could do the deals then. I went in and there was not a soul in the store but me.

      • kelli

I heard this from someone else as well. I’m so excited about that. I hate it that there are people who have to work on Thanksgiving but I’m so excited about being able to shop on Thanksgiving and getting all of the deals before the rush. :)

        • LD

well if this is the case then my grandson will get his first lesson in ECBs lol. I will go then if I have a choice than to go out on Black Fri.

          • http://faithfamilyfrugality.blogspot.com Alissabeth

            Start him young!!! :-)

        • Lyn

How late is CVS open on Thanksgiving and at what time will the deals start for Black Friday prices if you go the day before?

      • http://ipreferpublix.blogspot.com BrandyK

I went into CVS last year on Thanksgiving around 5pm and ALL the free after ecb items were GONE!! I wasn’t the only one shopping on Thanksgiving!

    • http://N/A Shirley

If I have a coupon for an item and an ECB receipt, will I have to buy a filler to be able to use the ECB?

      • kelli

you can use as many ECBs as you want for a purchase, of course you don’t get money back for them but you can use a coupon on an item and ECBs with no problem.

        • kelli

sorry, I hit enter before I meant to…

you can even use 2, or even 3 coupons on just one item and still use ECBs. For example, if you buy 1 item that’s $30, you could use a $5/$30, a manufactures coupon, and a store coupon on that item. You can also use multiple ECBs on it ($10, $5, $2, $1, etc.)

          • The Mentalist

of course! Think logically or technically

$5 off is on the whole purchase as a whole
A store coupon on the item is another way of saying discount adjustment or “sale price”
A manuf. coupon on the same item is being promoted by manufac. (CVS is getting its money for that)

Now you have balance you may neeedto pay. ECBs are in fact your money that you paid earlier; they are not exactly coupons; they are like vouchers. Not much different from if you were to pay with agift card

      • http://faithfamilyfrugality.blogspot.com Alissabeth

ECB are like currency. You can use as many towards your total as you want. It is not like Walgreens where they are manufacturer coupons and you have to have that filler to use the coupon for the item and the register reward. The only time you may need a filler is so you don’t lose any of the precious store money or to bring your total up to 15/20 for a store coupon! ;-)

    • Sean

Blade -$2/2 store coupon from Reinventing Beauty will get 4 deodorant, shave gel, or shampoo for $1 a piece after ecbs if done in 2 transactions.

      • Amy

        How?

        • pharmSCgirl

These items are on sale for $2.50 so if you buy 4 and use (2) $2.00 off 2 blade products brings it down to $6.00 and then you get $2.00 in ECBs when you buy $10 worth. I think that’s how it works.

    • Sue

Has anyone in the Lawrenceville/Grayson/Snellville, GA area been able to get the flu coupon book without getting the flu shot? I want the book…but not THAT much. :)

      • sherry

In small print it says, “no purchase neccessary” Just go to the minute clinic and ask for one. You might have to point out the small print.

      Huggies Deal-Yeah Right!

I like shopping at CVS and have gotten a lot of great deals there. I was excited to here they were going to have a deal on Huggies diapers.

However, I wish they would not be so misleading with their deals. (Don’t get me wrong, I can do the math really quickly.) But, why say that you can get $5 ECB when you spend $20 on Huggies products, when it is impossibe to spend only $20! It really should read, “get $5 ECB when you spend $25 on Huggies products!!!”

      • LD

With a number of there deals, it is like this, drives me nuts . They could just say spend more than 20.00 or 20 and above lol.. It would make more sense . I hate when I have to ads a 4th or 5th product to the deal and go $4 or more dollars above the Ecb requirments . And when it is 5 or more and it is only a $1 off coupon I have it makes the deal that much more, disapointing to me lol.

        • min

You are still getting a good deal. Oh well that you have to spend a couple extra dollars. Its more product that you have now and you barely pay anything for it.

          • http://www.babiesplusbargains.blogspot.com/ Rachel

Yeah, but a least they could advertise it correctly.

      • The Mentalist

marketing 101… they want to make it look as attractive as possible. Technically speaking, they are not doing anything wrong or misleading. Even if you were to spend $25 and not possible to get it to exactly $20, they are still saying that you are spending $20 (at least)

    • Tina

Can the Black Friday deals be purchased at 6:00 pm Wednesday?

      • amber

No they will not start until open on black friday or midnight at 24 hour stores.
        -cvs employee

      • Edna

The Black Friday Ad states 3 Day Sale Nov. 26-28 so I plan to be there when they open at 7 a.m. on Thursday. I went last year and got all the freebies. If you wait until Friday, chances are most free items will be gone!

        • http://southernsavers Lisa

Does the Sale start Thursday or Friday? The add doesn’t specify. It has all three days.

    • Andrea

Where do you get the Flu booklet?

      • Stephanie B.

I got mine at the pharmacy (without getting a flu shot). Just ask a pharmacy employee if they have any left.

    • Kris

For anyone who did the Tag deal at Target with all the coupons. Me and my daughter stopped at Wendy’s for lunch yesterday and she got a kids meal. They are themed leapfrog and have a $5.oo coupon on the side for use on Tag system or book. Good deal for the books… :)

    • pharmSCgirl

      Random Question:

Does Toys R Us take manufacterer coupons? Thanks!

      • Tiya

Yes they do. They take printed and those from the paper. In the one in Anderson, SC where I live the printed ones have to have the circles where the expiration date is located. That is a way that they verify the coupon is authentic.

        • pharmSCgirl

Thanks, I just noticed that the Mr/Mrs Potatoe Heads are on sale today and tomorrow for 3.99 and there is a coupon on coupons.com I’ll have to check and see if the dates are circled or not. This will make them $2 and great toys for Toys for Tots

          • LD

If they wont take them just take your add to walmart price match and use your coupons. then you still will get them for that . I used to work Customer service for a few years at the 1-800 tru/bru line . and some of the stores are a pain with these things. And corp will not over ride them for nothing but a huge deal . even if it is not there corp policy . long and many reasons behind it . Sometimes you can get satisfaction but it takes weeks by then it wont matter [there is a chain of forms and people to go through.] to get anything done even taking a coupon lol. If you are lucky you have a good manager and cs worker in your store.

          • Vanessa

I think you misunderstand the previous reply to your question. She is talking about little yellow circles in the date box, not the date being circled.

            • pharmSCgirl

I went to Wal-Mart and they price matched and then I forgot that they usually don’t take my online coupons, but the cashier didn’t say anything when I handed them to her and scanned one and something printed out of the reciept printer so she just keyed them in. I got 2 for less than $5. Hopefully some kid will like these for Christmas.

For the king size Mars ECB deal, my 11/15 AJC has a B1G1 any single pack coupon in the RP insert.

      • Bobbie

        What is an AJC? Thanks

    • Vanessa

Just wondering, does anybody know when the black friday deals will be available??? Ad says sales start Thursday, so would they start later in the day Thursday or Wednesday night? Usually my store enacts the new deals at three p.m. on Saturday.

      • kelli

where did you see the ad?

I’ve heard that they start on Thanksgiving morning, when the store opens. Not sure if they’d start on Wednesday night or not.

        • Bobbie

I was told by CVS that they start Thrusday. Will talk to mgr tomorrow and see if they change prices Wed afternoon since it’s not a 24 hr store.

          • pharmSCgirl

I am eager to find out when the deals will actually start. I have a 24 hour CVS accross town and might see if they will start wednesday night at midnight. However, I guess it would be better to go Wednesday night to a store that is not 24 hours. I’m so excited to do my first black friday shopping (hopefully early). I’m finally getting the hang of cvs and rolling ECBs. Thanks Jenny!

        • Vanessa

The ad is on iheartcvs.com. All of the pharmacies ads are…iheartriteaid.com and iheartwags.com…Cool sites for viewing ads, however, not nearly as helpful for deal getting. These are more help yourself, whereas Jenny spells it out for you…get these coupons, go here, buy this, total will be this…This is the best site out there!!! I just get nosey and want to see what Jenny sees while she is still working on it.

    • Melanie H.

I just checked my email and they sent me a -$5/30 printable for CVS that is good until Sunday. Check your email!

      • kelli

I keep hoping I’m going to get a coupon in my email, but I haven’t yet. :(

      • pharmSCgirl

They sent me some kind of survey thing to take. I was wondering if you maybe get something after taking the survey.

    • KitB

Does anyone have any idea if the $1/4 Libby vegetables works for pumpkin?

    • http://ipreferpublix.blogspot.com BrandyK

Crap! I just realized I have ecb’s which expired yesterday!!! I won’t be able to get back down to CVS until next week. Am I just sol??

      • Bobbie

I lost a couple and printed the list from my account on line to show they had not been redeemed. The mgr was nice enough to let me buy the amt in merchandise. Was very little but every little bit helps. You might try that.

      • Susan

Call your CVS. I think mine will honor them for 7 days after the date. It’s worth a call, anyway!

    • Sarah Beth

Has anyone tried to print the Complete coupons? Mine says I have printed this total number of times, but I have never printed these coupons. Have they just ran out?

      • pharmSCgirl

I was able to get one earlier today. Not sure what may be going on with it now. I would keep trying back.

      • Stephanie

I also keep getting a message saying there are no prints available for this campaign.

    • pharmSCgirl

I have a question about the coupons that print out at the coupon kiosk inside CVS. I keep getting coupons that say $3 off CVS Brand Purchase of $15 or more. Does this mean $3 off anything I purchase of $15 or more or anything that is the CVS store brand only? Thanks

      • kelli

It has to be CVS brand stuff. They make almost everything in CVS brand. I used $2/$10 on nuts.

    • savingmom

I got my CVS ad but the deals that you publishes for Black Friday are not in my ad. Is there another ad coming out?? And does these sales start for Friday or on THanksgiving day??
      Thanks

    • pharmSCgirl

Another question, does anyone use anything special to organize their coupons? I found online that there is a coupon wallet deluxe organizer but I don’t know how good it would be. I’m in dire need of a new organizer. I have been using a plastic accordian style organizer but I have way too many coupons in it and the sides are bulging out. Any tips would be great. Thanks!

      • kelli

I have a plastic one, I would be lost without it. Mine is stuffed full too. I’m thinking about using another one and just carrying around 2 with me. That might be a little bit crazy though. I can’t justify spending $20 on a coupon organizer when I got these from target for 50 cents each.

        • pharmSCgirl

Haha I got mine at target too! I wish I had gotten 2 of them b/c I have thought about carrying 2 with me as well. I think I’m going to go to wal-mart or target and see if I can get another one. How long ago did you get yours at target? I bought mine in Kennesaw, GA when I was visiting up there a few years ago.

          • kelli

I’ve had mine for a while too. I think that I bought 2-3 of them. They were in the dollar section, marked down to 50 cents. This was long before I started couponing (I just thought that they’d be useful for something in the future). I’ve always loved shopping sales but for some reason I didn’t start couponing until April/May of this year. I moved 2 months ago and half of my stuff is still in boxes, I need to find my second one so that I can split up my coupons. :) Good luck finding a solution that works for you!

            • pharmSCgirl

I just went to Wal-Mart and bought a zip around binder and baseball card protectors. There were a lot of binders on the bottom shelf that had clearance tags that said $2.00; however they rang up for $11.00 and I knew that the tags must have been too good to be true. I told the cashier about the clearance tags though and she rang the binder up for $2.00. Gotta love Wal-Mart sometimes. I did find a blog that Jenny started about ways to organize and after reading it I figured I would give this a try.

          • Tracie

Where did you find the baseball card holders at WalMart? I can never find them, what department are they in?

            • Sue

they ae usually toward the front checkout where the baseball cards are.

Get paper folders several of them somewhere cheap. Staples sometimes have them on sale for 1 cent a p9iece during back to school sales. Date each folder and keep the whole SS, RP etc. inserts in that folder. Write the date on top of the folder. Get a blank paper and write in short what coupon/brand you have in that SS or RP for that week. Keep the page inside the folder for easy to read and find.

Satck, all folders in a date sequence. next time, you are lkg for a coupon, you will just be glancing at the page insert you prepared for quick reference rather than flipping through the whole inserts. When you see the coupon/brand on the sheet, then you would just go into the insert and clip it.

Clipping them all is a waste of time because many will expire, and you wont use them anyway.

      • Stacy

I have two accordians, one for the food and one for the pharmacy or non food items. I carry them both around and for the savings, it’s not that big of a hassle! :)

    • Jennifer

So i hear that walgreens take two coupons for a b1g1 sale.. but does CVS? Im thinking about getting the Purex deal B1G1- can i use two coupons?

      • kelli

Yes, CVS will take 2 coupons on a buy one, get one free sale.

    • melissa thornton

I am confused about this CVS deals you have above –

      Transaction #1
      Buy:
      (1) Complete Solution $8.99
      Use:
      -$1 off Complete RP 10/25
      -$5 ECB
      Total Due: $2.99
      Get Back: $8.99 ECB

Where is the $5 ECB coming from? Does the deal just assume we already have $5ECB to start???

I have done CVS just once before as it confuses the heck out of me, so I only have $1 ECB.

Also, I cant get the contact coupon to print either. The site says they are all gone.

      :(

      • Sue

She is saying that she already has $5 in ECBs, so that is what she will start with. If you only have $1, then you would have $6.99 due and would get back $8.99 ECB. Still a good way to start.

    • melissa thornton

I am thinking of doing this deal, can somebody tell me if it will actually work?

I took a local couponing class here, but CVS still confuses me.

      Buy 2 huggies for 9.49
      1 pkg wipes for 6.99

      use $4 off $20 coupon
use 2 $2 off huggies coupons
      use .50c off wipes coupon
      use 1 ECB
use CVS gift card ($3) loaded on it

      Total $13.47, plus I get 5 ECBS

Would I still earn the $5 Huggies ECBS?
Would I present all my coupons in the order listed above?

      • pharmSCgirl

The order of the coupons looks right to me and it would cost you about $15 out of pocket and you would get your $5 ECB. I hope this helps.

    • Sue

FYI: A while back I saw a post on here from someone who said that she had bought Reinventing Mag only to get home and realize that all the coupons in it were expired. I did the same thing a few days ago. I saw an issue that was different from the most recent one I had, advertising $25 worth of coupons, so I bought 2 of them. When I looked at them later, I saw that all the coupons had expired in September. I was back in this morning, planning to see if I could return them. The manager told me that they would still accept the expired coupons, so there was no need to return. If you have done the same thing, ask your manmager about this. I plan to keep my receipt with the coupons so that, if I have to use it, I can.

    • melissa thornton

Thanks for the tips – I am going tomorrow for the contacts and diapers! Or if my store is 24 hours, can I go sometime today???

I have read all the above posts about the Black Friday deals, but am still confused. If my CVS is 24 hours, when can I get the black friday deals?

      Thanksgiving day at 1159 PM?

      • pharmSCgirl

If your store is 24 hours then I believe the deals for this weeks ad start tonight at midnight. Some stores that are not 24 hours start their deals at 6 or 7 tonight. I think it just depends on the store and manager. You might can call and ask someone. Some people only shop at CVS every other week b/c if there store starts next weeks deals tonight then technically they can shop tonight and get both last weeks and the upcoming weeks deals at the same time. I don’t know if I would want to take the risk of buying the stuff early and not getting the ECBs. I get so frustrated with CVS though b/c I went to shop there today and they had already taken down all of last weeks sale signs in front of the products. Even some of the stuff was ringing up full price. Good luck though.

Sorry, as for the start of the black friday deals: they may start wednesday night at midnight. I think I am going to call my 24 hour store and find out that night. I hope this helps.

    • Tingle

Hey am I correct in thinking that if i go shopping at 24 hour cvs tonight after 6 that i can shop both this past weeks and this coming weeks deals?

      • Susan

It depends on the store. You may want to call your CVS to find out when they activate the deals.

    • MarySC

I got a $10 off $30 coupon in the coupon kiosk today, good for 3 days. That will make the price of Huggies really, really, really good tomorrow!! (I stopped to check the price of pecans and barely remembered to scan my card while there- pretty lucky!!!)

      • pharmSCgirl

You are lucky! I keep getting $1 off 2 bags of CVS candy. I wonder how they decide who get’s what coupons.

        • kelli

I kind of wonder that too. I’ve been getting the candy and paper towel coupons.

    • pharmSCgirl

I went to CVS tonight and was able to snag a few of this weeks deals. Here’s my scenario:

      Bought:
      1 Tums @ $3.99
2 Nexxus Products (one $10.99 and one $9.99)
      1 Complete Contact Solution @ $8.99
      Used:
      $5 off $20 coupon
      $2 off Tums CVS coupon
      $1 off Tums coupon
      $1 off Complete coupon
Total Due: ~ $26.49 (used a gift card that I had $25.16 left on)
      Got back $19.99 in ECBs
I paid more than I really wanted to – but I have a lot of ECBs for black friday b/c I forgot to use my $10.00 ECB that I had from an earlier transaction today. Oh well!

    • denielle

IN THE SENERIOS, DO YOU DO ALL OF THOSE TRANSACTIONS AT ONE TIME AT THE SAME STORE??

      THANKS
      DENIELLE

      • pharmSCgirl

A lot of people do, but I have a hard time doing it. It’s not that I feel guilty, but I don’t want the cashiers to see me coming week after week and think “oh no here she comes”. There is a CVS on about every corner here in Columbia, SC so I may stop by a different CVS throughout the week until my scenarios are done. I’m a shop-a-holic
and love getting a good deal so I enjoy doing the transactions throughout the week. Sometimes one CVS may be out of a certain product so I will just stop at the next one along the way. It’s really up to you what you would rather do. Good luck!

    • Kelli

I am new to CVS – it looks like in your scenarios you are rolling the ECB’s that you earn in the previous transaction, just like you do at Wags. Is that correct? I read on a different blogger’s site that ECB’s are valid for a couple days after earning them, thus not being able to roll them. I just want to make sure I’m understanding. Thanks!

      • kelli

        another Kelli! :)

To me, CVS is A LOT less frustrating then Wags is. They don’t have nearly as many rules. I’m pretty great at CVS but I can’t get then hang of Wags.

Yes, she is rolling the ECBs like you do with the RRs at Wags. ECBs are good for a month after the print and in some (most?) cases a store will even take them a few days after they’ve expired. You can get great deals by rolling them, and since you have a month to use them (unlike the 2 weeks at Wags), you’ve got a lot more time to figure out what to use them on.

        Good luck!

    • Amy

Note: The cheapest Revlon tools at my CVS were 2.99, not 1.99. I think this is kind of like the ad for Sally Hansen nail polish that stated .99…if you remember that. Don’t rush to get free clippers. The Huggies wipes were a great deal! I think there were only 4 contact solutions left after me and I was there at 1 am.

    • http://www.southernsavers.com Amy

I did the Complete contact solution deal and it doesn’t say limit reached. The limit must be at least 2! Also, look for the packs with 33% more free. My store had them hiding at the VERY back of the shelf and none in the big bin upfront.

    • kelli

I tried and tried and tried and I couldn’t get the tums coupon to print. I tried on 3 different computers and got the same error message: “We’re sorry there has been an internal error processing your request.” Very disappointed. :(

    • Elizabeth

Am I the ONLY person who CANT get the Huggies Q link to work???? Help, I want to go to the store NOW, but I can’t get the coupon!!

    • kelli

      today I bought:

      3 clean & clear = $4.99 each
      1 tums = $3.99
1 bag of gold emblem candy = $.99
      – $5/$20
      – (3) $2 off any clean & clear
      – $2 off tums (store coupon)
      – 7 ECBs (adjusted to $6.95)
subtotal: 0, tax: 2 cents, total: 2 cents, total saved: $21.45, ECBs earned: $7 (one for green bag tag)

I should’ve gotten 2 bags of gold emblem candy and used a $1 of 2 coupon, it would’ve been the same price and twice as much candy. oh well…

    • Julie

I did what Jenny suggested and just focused on the free contact solution; good thing since another bottle I got weeks ago was not the right one (my eyes are still tingling from that stuff!):

      #1 Bought:
      Complete Contact Solution – 8.99

      Used:
      -$1 off Complete

      Total OOP w/ tax: $8.91
      Get back $8.99 ECB

      #2 Bought:
      Complete Contact Solution – 8.99
      CVS Chicken Broth – $1.00

      Used:
      -$1 off Complete
      -$8.99 ECB

      TOTAL OOP w/ tax: $0.91
      Get back $8.99

    • weslie

I went and did the Huggies Deal today!

      2 Diapers $18.99
      1 Travel Wipe $2.99

      $4 ECB when u spend $20
      $5 off a $20 purchase
      2 $2.00 off Huggies product
      1 $1.50 off Huggies Diapers

      Total OOP w/tax: $12.68
      Got back $9 ECB

I did run into a few snags, but thankfully had a very helpful (or just didn’t care) manager. The $4 off coupon scanned but then said it was redeemed on 11/4 and I’ve never used it before.. has anyone else ran into this? Thankfully she pushed it through.

Then when my receipt printed only the $4 ECBs printed, not the $5 for the huggies deal. The system only gave me credit for $19 towards Huggies and didn’t count the travel wipes but I asked for the manager again and she took my card and forced the system to print my ECBs. :)

      • weslie

** I meant the $5 off $20 coupon scanned but said it had already been redeemed.**

        • pharmSCgirl

I also used this coupon last night and it says the same thing for everyone. It seems that when it was posted on this site, it was something that someone had originally scanned in. Not everyone was supposed to have the coupon with the same barcode. (This is just how I percieve it). The cashier still let me use mine last night but she accused me of printing more than one. I told her that I had never used it so she just went ahead and gave me $5 off.

    • Christine

      Went to CVS this morning.

      Did 3 transactions

      1st transaction:
      8.99 (1) Contact solution
      -1.00 coupon
      used 7.00 ECB
      Total OOP: .99
      Received 8.99 ECB

      2nd transaction:
      8.99 (1) contact solution
      3.99 (1) Tums
      -1.00 contact coupon
      -2.00 CVS tums coupon
      -1.00 Tums IP coupon
      Used 8.99 ECB
      Total OOP: 0.00
      Received 9.99

      3rd transaction
      18.98 (2) Huggies diapers
      6.99 (1) Huggies wipes
      7.98 (2) Listerine
-5.00 off $30 (manager had to manually push it thru)
      -6.00 Huggies coupons
      -1.00 Listerine coupons
      Used 9.99 ECB
Used spend $20 get 4 ECB
      Total OOP: 13.27
      Received 11 ECB (5, 4, 2)

      Now for Black Friday deals!

    • melissa thornton

      I did it!

I went to CVS and spent $12 real cash on the following. I started with just 1 ECB and a $3 CVS gift card.

2 jumbo packs diapers (spend $20, get $5 ECB back)
      1 box of 214ct wipes
2 12 oz bottles contact solution (cost 8.99 and get 8.99 ECB)

And I left with a $5 ECB for next time.

      So, did I do alright?

So, I bought one of the contact solutions for 8.99 CASH+tax and got 8.99 ECB
Used that 8.99 ECB to buy the next contact solution bottle, paid .70c OOP and got 8.99 ECB back
Used that 8.99 ECB, plus $5 off $15 coupon, 3 manu coupons ($2 each), 1 ECB and $3 gift card, $3.15 OOP for diapers and wipes (more than half was TAX!!!)
      And got 5 ECB back

I couldnt figure any other way to spend less OOP…

And what is the dealio with the $4ecb when you spend $20 – was that a coupon or should i have gotten that today too???

      • kelli

it’s a coupon that’s in CVS’s holiday catalog. some stores have them behind the counter, others have them with the sale papers.

    • tmoore

I started out today with 10.00 ecb.

      1st transaction

      2 Huggies diapers (18.98)
      1 pkg Huggies wipes (6.99)

      -5 off 20 q
      -10.00 ecb
      -3 $2.00 Huggies q

oop $.54 (I could not believe it)

      Then got back $5.00 ecb

When I got to the car I looked at my receipt and the 5/20 q subtracted 9.98

I then did the 2 contact solution, tums and crest spin brush. I ended up spending oop 10.72 for all 3 transactions. I finished the day with 11.99 ecb (8.99, 2.00, 1.00). I think I’m finally understanding the CVS shopping. Now I’m ready for Black Friday! :)

      • The Mentalist

Your balance should have been well over $5, not 54 cents. I am curious how you got 9.98 discount instead of just $5? Was that cashier error? Also, ECBs do not work for tax any more. It can be redeemed for “sub-total” only.

        • tmoore

it had to have been a cashier error. I had planned to pay around 5.00 when I totaled it up before going. I’m not sure how the q rang up -9.98. It looks like from the receipt I paid $.40 in tax.

        • Lisa

So the Black Friday deals start at midnight? Hopefully I’ll be the only person there that late so I don’t have to deal with the typical BF craziness.

      • Tina

Many people have had the same thing happen with the $5/20 coupon. It doubled to $10/20. It happened to me too

    • Lisa

If I have a printout for $10 ECB, can I specify that I only want to use $8.99 ECB and then have a remaining balance or do I have to use the whole $10?

      • kelli

You have to use the full $10 or you lose it. If you want to buy something that’s $8.99, you’d lose $1.01.

    • Kelli J.

Can I split the Huggies deal into 2 transactions and still get the ecbs?

      • Jenny

Yes you can! As long as they are bought during the same week.

    • Brenda Z.

OOOK- I need help!! so i’m confused about when cvs’s black friday deals start! On the flyer I’ve seen scanned online (never seen one in hand though) it looks as though these deals are for Thurs, Fri, Saturday.
Does anyone have any proof or confirmation on if deals start thursday or only on Friday?? Thanks!!!

    • Melissa

I see the Huggies deal listed twice in her scenarios–does this mean you can do one deal in the regular week and another on Black Friday? It says limit one up top, so just curious…

    • Debra

I went to CVS last night to do the Huggies deal and wasn’t able to use the $2 printable coupon for the baby wipes even though it said on the coupon Huggies diapering product. The cashier and manager said it was to only be used on diapers. I was so disappointed I didn’t get the wipes or the ECB’s but at least I got the diapers and had coupons for those. I shop at the CVS on Emanuel Church RD. near Lexington, SC. Has anyone else had a problem doing this deal?

      • pharmSCgirl

You can probably just go to another CVS and complete the deal by getting the wipes and using the coupon. Then you will still get your ECBs. Good luck and sorry that they didn’t let you use the coupon.

      • Tiffany

That’s odd. I didn’t have that problem at all. Try another CVS possibly.

    • meghan

I am new to the CVS ECB thing. I do want to start it this week though. How much is a good amount to have on 1 ECB? I am thinking about getting the diapers, wipes, and lotion. I do have a $5 off $30 q, along with the q’s for the diapers, wipes, and lotion. I think that would give me 12.99 ECB…is this too much to carry over? Not sure that I’ll use it for anything else this week….any help or advice would be awesome. Thanks!

      • pharmSCgirl

Well the ECBs print on the bottom of your reciept for the ECB amount per deal separatley. So you may get 12.99 back but it will be say one 5.00 ECB and one 7.99 ECB. You should look at the items that you can use your ECBs on for the sale starting thanksgiving day I believe. I have like 30.00 worth of ECBs and I can use them to buy one item say for 5.99 and then I will get back another ECB for 5.99. I’m super excited and although I might not need the item right now, I will later or I can give it to family that does need it. I hope this helps. I just started CVSing not too long ago and cought on fast and LOVE it.

    • Jamie

I just made a wild hectic dash to CVS to use $10 in ECB that expired today (and I had forgotten about it)…. CVS closed at 10:00pm, I arrived there a little after 9:00pm, and left at 10:05pm (the manager and cashier walked out behind me, locked the doors, and left)….

Anyway, I am SUPER EXCITED because……………….
      I SPENT: $4.50
      I SAVED: $65.72…(YES! $65.72)
Plus I got $8.99 in ECB back!!!!
This was one of my most “savings trip”.. and I loved the feeling I had and the look on the cashiers face when I walked out :)
Thanks Jenny for showing us how to save so much money every week!! :)

    • kelli

is everyone else excited about tomorrow? :) I’m still trying to work out my plan.

    • Rebecca

Does the Huggies total have to be $20 after coupons used? I am sure that my total will be over $20, but I am starting with one ECB and have a lot of huggies coupons – in what order should I use them to get the best deal?

      • Jenny

It is $20 before coupons and ECBs.

    • meghan

ONE MORE QUESTION….I see the Herbal Essence is 2.99 each….I have a coupon for a Free Herbal Essence AND I have the coupon for B1 Herbal Essence, get a Free styler product. If I buy 1 shampoo and 1 hair spray, can I use the FREE Herbal Ess q for the shampoo and the B1 get a free styler product for the hair spray???

I am new to CVSing and want to start tomorrow, so I’m trying to come up with the best scenarios to get me started. Thanks!!!

      • http://www.keepurmoney.blogspot.com ZJ

I did and was able to get both free! I went at 9:30 this morning and had the entire store to myself! lol I think everyone was at the mall! :)

    • Tina

So can we get the black Friday deals starting Thanksgiving morning then? I dont see that posted anywhere, am I missing it?

    • melissa thornton

I spoke tocorporate and they told me that the black friday deals actually start friday.

but then why does the ad say dont wait until friday, shop thursday?

does cvs seriously not know their own rules???

      • Amy

That’s weird. I just got an email showing the free after ECB deals saying “Thursday, Friday, and Saturday” at the top.

      • meghan

I called my CVS to ask, and I called 2 times today, and they said the sale starts tomorrow when the store opens.

    • pharmSCgirl

Yeah I was wondering when the deals actually started. I think I might call the 24 hour store in town and ask.

      • pharmSCgirl

I just called my local 24 hour store and the guy was super nice and said that the deals start at 2 am. I really want to go but I’m not going out that late by myself. Maybe in the morning.

      • weslie

I just called my 24 hr store and they are starting tonight at midnight!

    • Sheila

Anyone out there tech-savy? I have a mac computer and an HP printer. And, I am not the most tech-savy person :) This afternoon I was printing some coupons, getting ready for my CVS and Walgreens runs tomorrow and this is the error that came out of no-where: “Opening Printer Connection Failed: Unable to open the printer connection. Please check your printer connections and check for printer errors.” There are no errors that I can find, and I don’t know what to do? I can’t print my lists or my coupons!!! If anyone can help me, I would greatly appreciate it!

    • Stephanie B.

Just an FYI – I noticed that there was a $3 coupon on the UPromise website for the Bic Soleil razors when you buy 2. I assume that if you have your CVS Extra Care card linked to your UPromise account you would get credit for this. That would make it a profit of $3 after coupons and ECB’s!

    • Sue

I got an email, too. And it included a $5 off $30 coupon! Re-working my scenarios.

      • pharmSCgirl

I just checked my e-mail and I got one too! I’m excited and I too have to re-work my scenarios. This could be challenging b/c I want to get all the free deals plus some of the other ones. I do have about $24 in ECBs saved up for my card and my boyfriend has $14 in ECBs. Good luck everyone!

      • Amy

How does one sign up for the coupon emails. I get the cvs.com emails but it always seems to just be for purchases on line. I get the photo emails too. I never get emails about $/$$.

    • pharmSCgirl

Has anyone had a problem using the $5 off of $30 coupon from the medicare quiz?

      • Christine

I had a problem using it. Cashier could not figure out why it kept on beeping so she called in the manager and the manager had to manually push it thru.

        • chris

we got denied on that coupon as well and our manager wouldnt push it though manually, oh well still got a lot of stuff for basically nothing

    • http://none melissa

i got the $5 off $30 as well. but am i super new at doing cvs.

i have $5 in ecb, plus that new coupon.

can somebody super nice tell me how to maximize? i want to do jenny’s #1-#6 as i already purchased the contact solution and diapers.

    • http://none melissa

anybody else have the degree Q that says, buy 2 and get $1.50 off?

is the deal still worth it with this coupon instead of the original $1.25 off 1?

      • pharmSCgirl

I think it all depends on how many ECBs you are starting off with. I had that coupon but it’s not worth using it b/c you will only get $4 ECB back even if you buy 2 (limit 1 per household). If you have plenty of ECBs then you could go ahead and get it but I wouldn’t use that coupon and you are going to get that ECBs back.

    • Melanie

Went tonight at midnight at the Lake Murray Blvd Columbia store. They had everything in stock. My only glitches were: the Herbal Essences did not ring up correctly so beware of that. They did not ring up for sale, and the ECBs did not print. Also, I bought the wrong Bic soleil cartridges. The only Bic Soleil item for sale is the starter without cartridges, according to the ad. My store did not have the items tagged, so that created a challenge. I am really happy with my haul! As we were leaving the store, my husband showed me the new coupon kiosque. I am excited about that!

      • pharmSCgirl

It sounds like you did great tonight with few setbacks. I hope I have this kind of luck in the morning. Did you do several transactions and do you find that the cashiers get annoyed with seperate transactions?? I hate when the managers are up front and give hateful looks like you are doing something wrong. I usually find myself doing one transaction and then driving to the next CVS to do another one b/c in Columbia they are pretty much on every corner. However, I am at home in Boiling Springs, SC and there is one here and several spaced out in surrounding areas. I guess this is just something that I will have to get over. Happy Thanksgiving!

        • Melanie

I did all this in one transaction. There were some ladies at the other register doing multiple transactions. I hardly ever do more than one. If I do, it is when the cashier invites me to, or if there is no one in line or in sight.

      • Binkle

Yeah, I had the same issue with the Herbal Essence. Some rang up 2.99 others 4.20. I had to go back twice to finally end up with the 2.99 ones. Even though the ones I picked were the 12 oz that was supposedly on sale.

    • http://none melissa

      ugh.

i dont have all the Qs mentioned and i cannot for the life of me figure out how to get the deals to work excluding those products to have a low OOP.

i dont have the degree Q – mine is for $1.50 off 2
i dont have the st ives Q
i dont have the colgate total Qs

I do have the rest AND the $5 off $30 though.

anybody able to help this newbie? i am beyond frustrated.

      • pharmSCgirl

How many ECBs are you starting with? If you don’t have any then it is going to be challenging and it would be good to start off with just buying an item out of pocket and then just keep rolling the ECBs. Just remember that you don’t have to get everything and to be honest, I spend time working out my scenarios and then get to the store and they are out of stock of an item so my scenarios are thrown off. Good luck!

        • melissa thornton

          I am starting with $5 ECBs…

          • pharmSCgirl

I would suggest starting with the first scenario that Jenny has buying the Complete Contact Solution and then just keep going from there rolling those ECBs over. Good luck! I went this morning and there were not many people in the store at all so today is a good day to go. Happy Thanksgiving!

        • chris

me and my wife started with 24 ecbs and got all items on bf ad and a few other things and still have 20+ecbs spent less then 10 bucks oop and most of that was on tax gotta love CVS

    • Val

Hi everyone, well I got my hubby to go with me, we left @ 1115, went to walmart 1st for a few items that we needed & checked out the tvs . we want to get on on Fri. Then we went to Walgreens, they said that their new sale does not start till Fri. Then went to CVS, very nice fellow said yep its after midnight, & he went & got me a new ad. He was very helpful & showed me where some of the items were. I made 2 piles, 1 for me & 1 for my hubby. I am new to this. I had all of my Qs organized, but I wasnt thinking & & had him ring up too many items in the 1st transaction, then I got better. He actually offered to void out some items in the 1st trans for me. Then I went& had my hubby open his own # , & did his trans. I didnt know that the ECB need to be kept separate for his CVS #. But thats ok. I have quite a few to use, but they dont expire till 12/26. Will go back tmo for a few more items that I didnt get tonight. Good Luck. Val S.

Is everyone planning on grabbing a buggy, getting all items needed for each scenario, then doing multiple transactions at the register and rolling ECBs? I just have a hard time doing this and people tell me to not feel guilty. I just figured out 6 scenarios for my boyfriend and he has a total of 6 and will only spend a little over $5 OOP. It’s awesome that we can do this but I feel as if I’m taking advantage of ECBs and I don’t want the store to loose money and end up getting rid of the ECBs. What are other’s thoughts? Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving!

      • Christine

I just came back from CVS tonight and did 4 separate transactions. I grabbed all my stuff first. Wanted to make sure everything was there. Then asked the cashier if I could do 4 separate transactions. I pulled what I needed out of the cart for each transaction. My CVS is really great about that. Never gave me any problems and never made me feel like anything or guilty. That is their system and I’m following the rules so I shouldn’t need to feel guilty. It just makes it easier to do it all at the register than having to go back and forth, unless there’s a line than I’d probably go to the end of the line.

      • Carol

CVS is NOT losing money. This ECB program has been in existence for more than 5 years an they WANT you to use their program…It brings your business to their store. As long as you are following the program rules and regs you are fine. A company is in business to make money and while I would like to think CVS just loves me, they don’t; they love my money lol…They are national and have corporate buyers who work with manufacturers and they get a great price on the items they buy to put “on sale”….Trust me you and I won’t break the CVS bank anytime soon.

    • Christine

      • pharmSCgirl

Wow! You did great! I can’t wait for the morning and I hope nothing is out of stock b/c then my scenarios are really going to be thrown off. Thanks for posting this. I like seeing how well people do before I go. Maybe there won’t be many people there when they open up in the morning and I can do my multiple transactions.

    • Sue

For those who have not worked out their scenarios, there is a $1 q for Vaseline Infusion in the last Reinventing Beauty mag, if you haven’t already used it. CVS q can be stacked.

    • kelli

I’m getting ready to go, my store has been open for an hour and a half… hopefully there’s still some stuff for me to buy! :) I’ll let everyone know how it goes when I get back.

    • meghan

I just got home from my CVS and they did not have the Right Guard Sport 3D as a deal. I still think I did pretty good for a first timer….here is what I got.

      2 pks of Huggies Diapers
      1 bag of Huggies Wipes
      1 Herbal Essence Shampoo
      1 Herbal Essence Conditioner
      2 Herbal Essence Hair Spray
      1 Vaseline Sherr Infusion lotion
      2 Colgate Toothpaste

Total OOP: 16.46 (includes tax & a $1 donation to St Jude)
      And I came home with $11.00 ECBs….

      So…how did I do?

      • Sue

Did you have any ECBs to start? If not, you did great!

        • meghan

Great bc no, I didn’t have any ECBs. This was my first ever trip CVSing. =)

      • kelli

great job! a lot better then I did on my first cvs trip. :)

    • Amy

there is a cvs ad mag at the front counter with a coupon that will make a $4 ECB print when you spend $20…so you want to use that coupon first…all transactions went very smoothly…LOVE CVS!

    • Kimberly

I enjoyed that! I rarely do cvs, so had no starter ecbs, but I got 2 diapers, wipes, toothpaste, 2 herbal essences, 2 candy bars, remote, lotion, spinbrush, razor, & razor refills for $20 before tax. And $2 ecbs for next time.

    • kelli

here’s the breakdown of what I did…. I had everything planned out to the penny but my store didn’t have the Bic razors, so I had to refigure everything in the store.

      • Stephanie B.

My CVS was out of the Bic Soleil razors as well! I was not happy about that and also had to do some quick refiguring in the store.

        • kelli

I had hoped to get at the store right when it opened but I was exhausted last night and went to sleep before figuring out my plan… I didn’t get to the store until around 9:30, they opened at 8. I guess if I had been there earlier, I probably would’ve gotten everything. I got a rain check for the Bic, so I’ll get it later.

      • Sue

You did great! Where did the $5/$20 Q’s come from?

        • kelli

It’s a printable coupon from a the beginning of the month. I’m pretty sure it’s available anymore. :(

          • Sue

Did you have any trouble using it? I thought that I had read that there had been some problems with it. I mayhave one.

            • kelli

I’ve heard that there has been some trouble as well. I know for a while they were all printing the same number. I haven’t had any trouble with them at all.

    • emily

the cvs in smyrna is great and they still have almost all the bf items left. i just spent $26, got a ton of stuff, still have the rebate for the touch of grey to do and i have $4 ECB. also, the sales associate gave me the ad for next week. it feels so good to save so much. thanks for all you do to help us save for our families.

    • kelli

I just found out that my fiance wants the giant whitman’s sampler… he wanted the worlds largest reeses 2 weeks ago. I’m spending way too much money on candy this month. Now I’ve gotta figure out if I find something else to buy that’s a good deal so that I can use a $5/$20. I wish he had told me he wanted it earlier, before I bought everything else!

    • Kim

Did the CVS thing before Thanksgiving dinner. Spent $17 OOP (included tax), but got:
      2 huggies diapers
      1 huggies wipes

      1 Herbal Essence hair spray
      1 Herbal Essence conditioner
      1 Bic Soleil
      1 Vaseline Infusium
      1 Tums
      2 Complete Eye solution
      2 bags of Hershey Kisses B1G1 ($1 Q)

      1 Reeses cup (jumbo)
1 Green bag tag for later
      2 bags of caramel creams

      $5 ECBs for next time.

Spent more than I had planned, but got a good deal on the candy and two more women who wanted to know about Southern Savers! The cashier wanted to know how to do this and get the q’s and the lady behind wanted the info too. So it was a good day at CVS

      Happy Thanksgiving!

I went today before heading to the in-laws for the day. Today was only my 2nd time trying the CVS system.

The CVS had everything in stock at 11 AM!!! I thought they were out of the mens razors, but the manager found some for me. WOOT!!!

I had 6 transactions and the cashier was very patient and helpful. She says she works the system too.

I had just 5 ECBs to begin and I also had a $5 off $30 printed coupon. I ended up spending $24 OOP total, but came home with $17 ECB after my last transaction. I know I could’ve done better, but as I am new…I dont yet have things down.

Most of my OOP total came in the 1st transaction as I was trying to use that $5 off $30 and I only had $5 ECBs.

I dont know what folks are talking about when they mention the $4 for buying $20 – how do I do that??? is it a coupon out there somewhere???

I guess I am happy, but I will feel better when my total OOP is better.

      • kelli

the spent $20, get $4 ECBs is in the christmas catalog. some stores have these behind the counter, some have them near the sale papers, I’ve also seen them near the newspapers. I’d just ask someone at your store where you can get one.

      • http://none melissa

I was SO annoyed at my CVS OOP that I took 3 things back and got a refund for $23. So my OOP ended up being less than $1. And I still had lots of stuff left at home – the razors (3), the shampoo and hair gel (2 each) , the candy (4), the toothpaste and toothbrushes(2 each), the deodorant and the body wash. I also have 17 ECBs left. Oh, and I found the get 4 ECBS when you spend $20 coupon – you have to ask for a special catalog for Christmas and its inside that catalog.

Does anybody know if you can use that Q just once per CVS card???

    • kelli

I went back to CVS again today and did 2 more transactions, because apparently the 3 I’d done earlier wasn’t enough. My fiance really wanted the huge whitman’s sampler, so I got it for him and I needed to get another Dyna Pep. I think I did a pretty good job.

      Transaction 4:
      1 Tums = $3.99
      1 Caramello = $.89
      1 Just For Men = $8.29
      1 St. Ives = $3.99
      1 Dyna Pep = $4.99
      – $5/$20
      – $2 off Tums (store coupon)
      – $2 off Just for Men
      – $13 ECBs
      subtotal: $.15, tax: $.69, total: $.84, saved: $24.20, earned: $19.17 (1, .89, 8.29, 3, 4.99, 1)
*I tried over and over again to get the Tums coupon to print, but no luck. Also, I couldn’t find the St. Ives coupon in my inserts. :( $1 ECB for green bag tag this transaction. :)

      Transaction 5:
      1 Whitman Sampler = $14.99
      2 Hershey’s Kisses = $3.49, bogo
      2 Gold Emblem candy = $.99 each
      – $5/20
      – (2) $1 off Hershey’s Kisses
      – $1 off 2 Gold Emblem candy
      – $12 ECBs
      subtotal: $.46, tax: $.36, total: $.82, saved: $33.49, earned: $0
*This was actually somewhat painful for me. It’s not very often that I spend that many ECBs and get nothing back.

      Updated Summary:
      Spent: $4.82 ($3.42 tax)
      Used: $63.99 ECBs
      Earned: $77.72 ($13.73 profit)
      Saved: $142.32

      • Rebecca

I tried to find the St. Ive’s q too but no luck. I’m in Charlotte and got the Observer. :(

    • Heather Dixey

all of a sudden i’m wondering if i need filler items at cvs or is that just walgreens? i have three items three coupons and i’m wondering how many of my ecbs i can use without needing a filler item. but then i thought maybe i don’t need one? that would be super:-)

      • kelli

ECBs are like cash, you don’t need a filler item to use them.

    • Kelley

I just got back and yes, some items were gone but most were still available. I just bought everything in one transaction… did not feel with dealing with multiple transactions! Anyway, the right guard ecb does not appear to be there and my $1.59 candy bar did not print …

    • Sue

I waited til today to go to CVS along with my other Black Friday shopping. I was afraid that they would be out of everything, but as it turned out they were putting up stock so I was able to get everything on my lists except the Bic Razor. While shopping I noticed that they had MANY Airwick Freshmatic Starter Kits. I asked the cashier about it and she checked the flyer but they were not in it as a sale item. She then checked further and found that they are on sale for $5.99. I had just left Fred’s where I bought 2 (all they had), using my $5 Q’s from SS 11/15. I did 4 tranactions, three with my card and one with my husband’s. Here’s what I did:

      I started with $21 ecbs
      #1
      2 Blade @ $2.50
      1 Contact Solution @ $8.99
      1 Schick @ $9.99
      1 Ear Buds @ $6.99
      Used:
      $2 off Blade
      $1 off Contact Solution
      $5 off $30
      $21 ecbs
Paid $2.88 oop (a little more than planned but my insert did not have the Schick Q)
      Got $23.98 ecbs

      #2
      1 Hershey Rolo @.89
      1 M&M King @ 1.59
      3 Herbal Essence @ 2.99 = 8.97
      1 Colgate @ 2.99
      1 St. Ives @ 3.99
      1 Vaseline Infusion @ 7.99
      1 Degree @ 4.00
      Used:
      Free Mars Candy
      $1 off Herbal Essence
      1 BIGI Herbal Essence
      75¢ off Colgate
      $1 off Vaseline Infusion (CVS)
      $1.50 off Vaseline Infusion (M)
      $5 off $30
      $16.99 ecbs
      Paid: $1.88 (1.65 was tax)
      Got 23.88 ecbs

      #3
      2 Airwick @ 5.99 = 11.98
      1 Blade @ 3.99
      1 Blade @ 3.49
      1 Colgate @ 2.88
      Used:
      2 $5 off Airwick
      $2 off Blade
      75¢ off colgate
      9.99 ecbs
      Paid $1.56 (1.46 was tax)
      Got $4 ecbsmore
Ended with $26.47 ecbs on this card 5.47 than I started with.

      #4 (husband’s card) started with $15 ecbs
      1 Vaseline Infusion @ 7.99
      1 MP3 player @ 24.99
      Used
      $1.50 off Vaseline Infusion (M)
      $1 off Vaseline Infusion (CVS)
$4 ecbs with $20 purchase card
      $5 off $30
      $15 ecbs
Paid $12.37 (kinda high but it was the mp3 player)
      Got $16.99 ecbs
I needed the MP3 player for a Christmas present. This way it cost me very little because I finished with $1.99 more in ecbs than when I started.

      Totals:
Before Sales & coupons: $164.69 plus tax
      Sale prices: $118.10
      Paid $12.78 plus $5.91 tax = $18.69
Ended with $7.46 more in ecbs than I started with so this trip actually cost me $11.23
      NOT BAD!

    • Michelle

On the Just For Men deal…I found the website with the $2 off coupon and a mail-in-rebate…I paid with ECB’s for the rest of the amount…will the manufacturer honor the mail-in-rebate and send me $6.29 even though I paid with ECB’s? The receipt doesn’t specifically show what coupon was used for what item…

I was wondering the same thing. I asked the question on another website and someone responded saying that she’d sent the same rebate in when she’d paid for it with ECBs and she got the money back. Also, they’ll most likely send you the full $8.29 back.

we have no need for this product, but i was wondering – should i buy it with the coupon and ecbs just to make real money back?

what are folks doing with the product?

I don’t have any need for it either, I got it simply because it was a money maker…I feel like I can eventually come across someone who would appreciate it, so I will save it until then.

does anybody know how many times you can use the get 4 ECB when you spend $20 card?

I cant find any info on it.

I’m pretty sure that it’s just once. Once you’ve used the coupon, the bottom of your receipt will say “Voucher, Spent 20 Get 4 EB” then it says that the balance is one and offer limit reached.
