The metro Atlanta Food Lion’s are closing and the one closest to me is no longer taking coupons, but will have everything (except alcohol and tobacco) marked 25% off starting 1/18/2012.

      • Shannon

Which one is the one closest to you? I work near the one in Riverdale. I just got an idea to try them out and they are closing.

        • Melissa

Conyers.  I sad about it closing for a few reasons, one they did double coupons upt to $.60, they price matched, and I was able to use Food Lion coupons at Publix since my Publix considers them a competitor.

          • Kristy

I was just in Conyers visiting family. I didn’t realize they had a Food Lion that doubled. Guess that is a good thing because I would have been there instead haha

            • I asked foodlion about them doubling coupons. They said that they have a few pilot store “testing it out” i asked when it was going world wide and they said “they had to see if they were making a profit. So we will see.

    • AngelStorm

Food Lion’s closing in Florida…will not be accepting coupons.

      • Kristy

Im sure that goes for the ones in Upstate South Carolina.

        • Clairebpratt

The one in Laurens, SC said they will still accept coupons.  I called them today!

      • Phonebookqueen

I just went to the FL in Trenton Ga and they accept coupons still but everything is regular price. No sale ad prices

    • wbstrfm4

Melissa, thanks for the info.  I wasn’t sure if they were still accepting coupons or not.  Guess there’s no double-dipping, huh?

      • Melissa

It’s really a bummer, they said no coupons because corporate wasn’t going to pick them up so they would just lose the money, but by marking their stuff down they are “just going to lose money” too.  Oh well, it was nice while it lasted.  Maybe I’ll get lucky and a Whole Foods will move into the empty building.  A girl can wish right?

    • Nicole

International Delight Coffee Creamer, 16 oz, 60¢
No way.  Really?! That is crazy.  Even without a coupon, that price might actually make me go to Food Lion (which I rarely do because I live near 3 Harris Teetrs)!!

      • 2 Coupon Moms

        that’s a CRAZY price!!!

      • Lindsay

I just looked at the preview of the ad.  It shows the International Creamer as 3/$5.  I knew it was too good to be true!

        • Nicole

I thought so.  Too good to be true.  And Food Lion will not double coupons, hence the reason (among many) that I go to Harris Teeter instead!  When Harris Teeter did 3/$5 I got it for 0.17!

        • Audley79

          darn, was really hoping!

    • TabithaIlges

Is the international delight legit or is it a misprint b/c my husband goes through a lot of coffee creamer and that would be awesome.

    • Debbie Parnell

I spoke with Food Lion’s near me that are closing, and they said that they would continue taking coupons.

    • Dixiegirlinafrica05

Jenny, what zip code or area is this ad from?

    • Debbie

Anyone know about the ones closing in Mt Pleasant?  Are there good clearance prices there?

      • Celeste

I went to the Food Lion on Long Point yesterday, 01/18.  The entire store, excluding alcohol, tobaccoo and milk, is 25% off.  They are still accepting manufacturer’s coupons, but not store coupons.  The cashier scanned my MVP card, but said it doesn’t even work anymore.  They close at 6pm now too.

    • Morgrens

Does food lion allow you to stack the ecoupon with the Man.Coupon?
If so there are some great things for really cheap!

      • Audley79

my food lion lets me use both

      • If you read there policy it says that they do NOT stack. Not sure how audley done it. But if you clip one to your card online. Once you scan your card it applies what ever coupons that are on your card to your order. And if you scan your own coupon it is SUPPOSE to not take it. “Is there a glich in the system” Maybe

      • Esther

I’m always able to use both. They don’t consider using an electronic coupon and a paper coupon “stacking.” I don’t believe it’s a glitch in the system. I got tampons for free this way the other day!

    • Sswafford

On the PF goldfish crackers, the coupon says its for baked natural crackers. Will the store take that coupon for goldfish? If so that’s .19 cents a bag!

    • Awyatt2

So the food lion brand sale…the prices that are listed are what the items cost before or after the discount?? And how is the discount applied? Is it applied at the register as an instant discount.

      • Crazymissbec

At my FL they print off a coupon for you to use on your next visit based on how many FL brand items you purchased.

    • Sigaduro

Our regular price for FL yogurts are 22 cents a piece. I was unsure if they would “work” for the FL private brand sale, but they did!!! 3 cent money maker on each cup of yogurt! And in a house of 5 kids, we go through some yogurt!!

      • Mel

That’s a crazy good price for yogurt!  Certainly didn’t find that at my store, though.  Mine was 11/$5 (or about $.45 each).  Still a good deal when you get $.25 back on each one.

        • Sigaduro

I am sorry, it is the My Essentials brand, not the Food Lion brand. I don’t know if that makes a difference with the price or not. Either way cheap yogurt, YAY!

    • Kcreviews

Jenny, I love your site, but I’m not happy about the new ads that are printing out on my shopping lists! I understand that you want ads on your site–they generate revenue, but I don’t need my printer using ink for useless ads that I don’t want! Please make them go away.

      • Savvybride1008

If you “create a list” off of what she gave you it does not print the ads…just what you selected, or her entire list if that’s what you selected….

      • coupongrandmommy

I was having the same problem.  With the new format, we no longer have to click print preview inorder to change size to 100%.  After you create the list, click on ‘print my shopping list’ in the upper left side of page to print and the ads will not print with your list.

      • lgeorge

I’ve never had to print ads. that’s odd.

    • Gigi

Be on the look out… Food Lions that will be closing will have merchandise 25% off since 1/18 and they will reduce till 75%, they have to sold everything they have in store.

    • Kroger printed out $1.25 off of Any’tizers snacks manufacturer q. That would make a bag 75 cents. Will Food Lion accept it if it has a Kroger logo?

      • Jcwiakala_44

It’s up to the discretion of the cashier.  They are man. coupons, so they should.  I’ve used them at other stores (not at Food Lion) and there’s never been a problem.  They should scan at no problem.

      • Ccuriel

Food Lion coupon policy does not allow them to accept competitor coupons because the store will not get reimbursed for it. That is what I’ve been told by my managers and I’m a full time college student/part time cashier.

You may be able to use them at other stores that do accept competitor coupons, however.

im confused about the buy 40 get $10 off. so if i bought 40 food lion cat food at 30 cents each and get $10 off that would make each 5 cents? is this correct?

      • Tammy

I believe the 30 cents is after the $10 off. Which means that the before discount price would be 55 cents. (It would be a 25 cent discount on each item $10.00/40 items = .25)

      • Sonya44

I do rescue and had to figure this out. You buy 40 cans of the home 360 cat food. The weekly ad price is 10/$4.
This makes you pay a price at checkout of $16.00. Then at the end the register prints you a coupon for $10.00 off your next visit. This makes it $6.00 and this is how they get .15 cents a can. buy 40 cans = $16 – $10 off coupon = $6.00. divide $6.00 by 40 and you get .15 cents. I do not feed off brand name to my own cats but think it would be great for donations to rescues and people who feed feral colonies.

I think the price of the International Delight Coffee Creamer is not right.
I checked the sneak peaks and it says 3/5.00, that makes them 1.67 each.
If it was 5/3.00 it will be .60 each.  Correct me if I am wrong.

      • Moohairtoo

        You are correct……it is 3/$5.00

    • Anonymous

I have just discovered we have a food lion in the area. How is the food lion brand stuff nd is there anything special that this store does that others do not for instance coupons?

      • Esther

I shop at food lion a lot, and think that their store brand products are really good. They do a lot of BOGOs on their own brands which makes for great savings!! I do stay away from their yeast, coffee creamer, etc… The best thing they do with coupons is that electronic coupons can be stacked with paper coupons. I do this every shopping trip and it makes for great savings. Especially when you put savingstar on top of that. :)

    • Amanda

Cape Cod chips are Buy 1 Get 1 Free this week. There was also a $1 off coupon in the 1/15 newspaper for Cape Cod. That gets the cost per bag down to $1.39.

    • MBennett

I couldnt find the $.75 coupon for the International delight in the paper but if you go to the international delight website you can get one! Also if you go to the International delight facebook page you can get $1 off coupon! :) HTH

    • Lauren

Yeah I think the International Delight price is a bit off, but if you use the -$1/1 coup, I think .60 is still a great price for a creamer that size.

    • Judy.A

does foodlion split the price on their bogo’s..or is it a true bogo?

      • krazycoupongirl

Yes, Food Lion bogo’s ring up 1/2 price on each item.

    • Colleen

All Food Lion stores in Jacksonville, FL area are closing soon.  The store in in St. Johns #0553 started their closing sale today.  Almost everything is 25% off.

Any idea if they will still accept coupons during liquidation?

        • Crystakell

          They’re not taking coupons.

        • YHerberger

I would call the store and ask – I went to a closing food lion in Ft. Mill SC and they did accept all my coupons with no questions asked.  BUT there was no sales in the whole store – every item was regular price then 25% off ~ except alcohol and tobbaco

        • Kelli

My food lion in Carrollton, GA is taking coupons, but they are not doubling them.  They also are not doing any price matching or any of the other tricks of the trade, just face value of the coupon.

    • Amelia

Just so everyone knows, the promotion at the top of buy x amount and get $x off is that money off your next purchase. It is not an instant savings. So if you buy 20 items then you get a coupon for $5 off your next purchase. You will have to pay full price up front.

      • Jessica

I always seperate my groceries into two transactions. I purchase all of my Foodlion brand first and get my coupon. Then I purchase the rest of my groceries and use my coupon to help pay for them.

    • Crystalkell

I just went to one of the Food Lions in Jacksonville.  They’re not taking coupons, and the sales ad does not apply.  Everything is just marked 25%.  You also don’t get the coupon for X amount off of your next purchase when you buy a certain amount of Food Lion brands.

        which jax store?

    • CYR

Okay I ran into food lion to get some of the FL soda (.33 cents)  and FL mac n cheese (49 cents)… the soda was .89 cents and the mac n cheese was .99 cents.  If you calculate the savings at 25 cents per item that’s still 64 cents for the soda and 74 cents for the mac and cheese… what am I missing?

      • SmileySweets

The FL sodas that are 0.33 are individual cans, often found up front. As for the mac n cheese, sorry, I don’t know. I did notice last week that many of the sales were regional.

There’s a coupon for the Palermo’s Pizza on their website.

      • E_candler

        Thanks, they are my favorite!!

    • Cjmathews06

The post cereal deal is only Fruity Pebbles at the FL I shop at.  Unfortunately , my sister and I did not check first and assumed that it was any post cereal and ordered 20 Post Shredded Wheat coupons.

      • Cindy

Ugh!  I just did exactly that!!  I was gonna have me some shredded wheat n peanut butter! lol  Hopefully we’ll find another good sale.

    • Guest

I dont know if this applies to all Foodlion that are closing or just the ones in the Evans/Martinez, Ga foodlions that are closing. But the sale that is in the paper does not apply to the stores that are closing in the Evans/Martinez, Ga area. Everything in the store except alochol and tobacco are 25% off, the 25% off is taken off at the register.. You can use manufactuer coupons but not store coupons.

I ran into Food Lion to grab a cheap mango on my lunch break, and was THRILLED to see that their shredded cheese (store brand, all flavors, including all-natural and reduced fat) is B1G1 this week! $2.13 a bag before B1G1 makes it less than $1.07/bag! It also counts toward the super brand sale, so $1 off your next purchase for every 4 bags you buy. I stocked up, since they freeze well. Don’t know if this is a local sale or what, but I’m in the Raleigh/Durham NC area if anyone wants to check it out.

PS- when I bought 4 bags of the cheese and a mango, it printed off a $1.25 off my next purchase coupon. Does anyone know if this means produce counts toward the sale, or  perhaps just a happy fluke?

Food Lion Beans – does that refer to dry beans or canned beans?

        • kk

what coupon center r u talking about

          • Amber, NC

There’s a machine near the door where you can scan your card & it prints coupons for you.

    • Jennifer Simpson

My Food Lion is one of the ones closing – I went there today thinking they would have their produce and meat marked way down to get rid of it.  Everything there was way over priced. It seems they doubled all the prices before putting the ‘25% off everything’ signs up.  A small bag of Foodlion brand sugar was over $4!  People were walking in there with shopping carts and leaving empty handed because there were no good deals to be found.

    • Mel

In case anyone’s wondering, the Mueller’s pasta at my store was $1.69 and then BOGO, so half of that if you buy one.  It didn’t say in the ad, so I figured if I was wondering, maybe someone else would be, too.

Also, I purchased my food lion brand stuff first and then used my coupon on the rest of my stuff (in a second transaction).  It’s probably up to your store as to whether or not they’ll let you do that, but that way if I don’t make it back there for a while, I won’t accidentally let it expire!

    • Teedlesp73

My store in Hixson TN is one of the ones closing.  I went in there today to use the $10 coupon that I got last week and was told that they were just told yesterday 1/18/2012 that they could no longer accept them because they are connected to the MVP card and they aren’t taking those any more.  I went ahead and bought what I had in the buggy since it was 25% off, They said I could use it at the Ringold road store, .  I think I would have come out better just to have gone there instead. But I didn’t know until after they had rung everything up.  I called corporate to complain and told them I didn’t think it was fair to the employees to have to face customer aggravation and that they should have given their employees enough notice to alert customers to use coupons before they were no longer accepted.

      • Pat

Do you happen to know when everything is going 50% off at your hixson store?  I talked to them at E. Brainerd which is also closing and they told me that they THINK it might be the 3rd from last week everything would be 50% off.  Just wondering if you heard differently about your store?

    • ThriftyDiva

The Food Lion in my area (College Park, GA) is closing, also. I planned to take advantage of the “Going Out of Business” sales, but was told that the prices had been hiked sky high before the 25% off discount was applied. I find that to be quite dishonest and misleading. I am very disappointed in that business decision.

      • Danabond9685

Im also in the college park area and went to FL for their 25% of sale. they indeed took all of the sales off and marked everything at original prices. I loaded up only on the items that I had coupons for. Maybe the 50% off sale will be better, IF anything is left.

    • Teedlesp73

Went to the Food Lion on Ringold Road today in East Ridge.  Did 4 transactions.  The third one was 40 of the 27cent waters.  It didn’t give me a $10 coupon on the waters.  So I had $10 more out of pocket than I had planned, but was still an overall good trip.  about $45 for 25 green beans, 15 corn, 29 tuna 1 cerial 10 -8oz cheese, 40 waters and 3 whole chickens.   Would have been better if the waters would have gave the 10 coupon, but still.

      • Teedlesp73

Looked back at my receipts last night and it looks like my MVP card didn’t get scanned on the reciept for the waters.  I’m going to call them today to see if I can go back and have them redo to get the $10.

        • Pat

I went to this food lion today as well and the cashier was talking and handed me back my card without scanning it.  I had to point out to her that she didn’t scan my card.  I hate having to go to this store…the east brainerd road store is closing which is 2 min’s from my house :-(

    • Wellss195358

I’m not finding the Goldfish coupon in SS 11/6.. I don’t even have SS for 11/6, only RP.
Anyone else having this problem? Maybe it was a typo and the date is off?

      • Doodlebugs38

I think the $ 1.00 coupons was in this weeks paper 1/22. I did get mine! Going to use them today.

    • Mhcalum

My food lion is closing in SC and the store is 25% off but they are not honoring anything from the ad.  NO BOGO or sale prices.  The 25% didn’t even seem worth it and I walked out.

    • Xsupertiffx

My store has Cape Cod Chips B1GI for $3.79 and I had a $1 off 2 Cape Cod Chips.  So I got two bags for $2.79.

My store also had marked down their Butter Ball Turkey Sausage to $1.17 a package and I had the .55 coupon making them .62 each.

Foodlion gets what they deserve. for the past 15 years they have been increasing there prices to where they are now and that is ridiculous. They used to be a good store you could count on with low prices. they just sold out into the big corporate world. As soon as they advertised that a new Walmart was coming to our town, they did a little kiss tush with a greeter saying “welcome to Foodlion” to late for that after screwing us with their high prices. i’d like to see ours shut down and a HT take over it.

I just purchased groceries at our local Food Lion with 17 items being Food Lion brands.  No promotional coupon was printed for me!  When I questioned the manager I was told “Sometimes it prints out and sometimes it doesn’t”.  Well, Bi-Lo here I come!

      • Teedlesp73

Did you make sure they scanned your MVP card?  One of my transactions didn’t print one they other day and wheni got home later that evening I noticed that they had forgotten to scan my MVP card on that transaction.  I’m going to go back this week and see if they can rering the transaction and scan my MVP card.  Maybe it will print then.

      • Pat

This happened to me and I spoke with the manager about it.  He gave me a Food Lion gift card for the amount of coupons that should have printed out.  I’d call corporate and report this!

      • E_candler

Try ringing only the FL,  and store band items first.  Make sure you have a number divisible by four.  Then you know right away if you get the rebate and do a secnd transactin wih your other items and use the coupon immediatey.  This system works GREAT!

    • Crickettjd

Just a heads up to Florida Residents, I just spoke to Charlene @ the 800 # and she said since the Food Lion stores in Florida are closing, they are  NO LONGER accepting Store Coupons, they are only accepting Manufacturer Coupons.

    • Crystal

I just went to my local food lion and was disappointed. The food lion yogurt and the biscuits were not on the super sale, when you buy 4 get 1.00 off. My yogut was .45 cents. I could not find any water for .27Cent. The manager told me that the only things that were part of the super sale was pictured in the front of the ad.

      • Amber, NC

You should have bought four yogurts just to prove him wrong. There are signs all over the store on every aisle listing which brands are participating. Any Home360/My Essential/Food Lion product counts.

        • Crystal

Amber, I did purchase 4 yogurts and nothing printed, thats why they called the manager. Maybe I should just try another foodlion.

    • Inkpressed

I went today to Food Lion and they had B1G1 on the Hershey’s single bars. Used my B1G1 Coupon and get them all free free free!
