The National Consumer Panel, formerly known as Nielsen Home Scan, is now accepting new applicants in certain locations.

If you are accepted, you will be sent a small hand-held scanner and will scan all the bar codes of everything you purchase.

You will then transmit this information to Nielsen and earn points that can be redeemed for a variety of items from the Nielsen Gift Catalog. It takes a while for points to add up, but if you keep stick with it you can earn electronics and household products!

I was a member previously. It was very time consuming. I’m a commissary shopper so I had to enter almost every price on the items I purchased. I ended up sending the scanner back to them. Plus, it seemed like my scanner never transmitted correctly.

I signed up and it said you can use your phone instead of the scanner. Maybe that would be quicker and easier?

I signed up to try it. It still says you get on the waiting list but we’ll see.
