I love to bake, because it’s almost always cheaper to make from scratch, but another way to save is to find the lowest prices on those ingredients. Because we have a big family and I do a lot of baking, I get a lot of ingredients at Sam’s. You do need to be equipped to store the items, since many of them come in bulk packages.  Here are my 10 baking items I always buy at Sam’s Club.

Here are some ideas for bulk food storage.

10 Baking Items I Always Buy at Sam’s Club

Member’s Mark All Purpose Flour, 25 lbs, $8.98 (Unit price: 2.18¢ per oz)

I find that one of these packages lasts me a really long time! I use flour for cookies, bread, pizza dough, and more.

Compare to Walmart’s price: 4.1 ¢ per oz for Great Value All-Purpose Flour

Member’s Mark Canola Oil, 192 fl. oz., $13.88 (Unit price: 7.2¢ per oz)

These two bottles last a long time. If I’m not using butter, I usually use canola oil for baking. (I also use this for our Blackstone!)

Compare to Walmart’s price: 7.5¢ per oz for Great Value Canola Oil

Member’s Mark Granulated Sugar, 10 lbs, $6.58 (Unit price: 4.1¢ per oz)

I use these giant bags of sugar for baking cookies and cakes, especially during the holidays.

Compare to Walmart’s price: 4.6¢ per oz for Great Value Granulated Sugar

Arm & Hammer Pure Baking Soda, 13.5 lbs, $8.88 (Unit price: 4.1¢ per oz)

Baking soda is something I often use in baking and cooking. It also doubles as a great cleaning tool (or just to put in stinky shoes)!

Compare to Walmart’s price: 5.8¢ per oz for Great Value Baking Soda

Rising Star Baking Supply Pure Vanilla Extract, 8 fl. oz, $8.98 (Unit price: $1.12 per oz)

This is about as cheap as you can find pure vanilla, and one bottle will last a long time.  It also gets rave reviews from everyone on the quality!

Compare to Walmart’s price: $3.24 per oz for Great Value Pure Vanilla Extract

Clabber Girl Baking Powder, 22 oz. 2 pack, $7.78 (Unit price: 17.6¢ per oz)

This baking powder is significantly cheaper than even the cheapest kind at Walmart, and I think the quality is great, too.

Compare to Walmart’s Price: 24.4¢ per oz for Great Value Double Acting Baking Powder

Member’s Mark Butter Sticks, 4 ct, 16 oz, $10.96 (Unit price: 17.1¢ per oz)

The great thing about buying butter in bulk is that you can put it in the freezer until you need it.

Compare to Walmart’s price: 19.1¢ per oz for Great Value Sweet Cream Butter

Member’s Mark Cream Cheese Brick, 48 oz, $6.63 (Unit price: 13.8¢ per oz)

The only downside of this cream cheese is that it’s in a huge brick instead of 8 oz packages. However, it’s not difficult to cut and wrap into smaller portions, especially with how much cheaper it is!

Compare to Walmart’s price: 19.5¢ per oz for Great Value Cream Cheese Brick

Morton Iodized Salt, 64 oz, $2.38 (Unit price: 3.7¢ per oz)

At almost half the price of what you can get elsewhere, this huge box will keep you baking for months.

Compare to Walmart’s price: 7.8¢ per oz for Morton’s Iodized Table Salt

Large Eggs, 15 dozen, $29.47

These are a little more expensive per egg than what you’d get at Walmart, but I love that I can safely get 5 dozen eggs home and that they are packaged in a way that won’t easily break.
