Before kids I used to make routine exercise part of my day.  Now I’m lucky if I can get shower!  I know I’m not alone, but I also know that it’s important for me to carve out time to do things I need for me.

That’s my challenge for April, take back my time and make new and better habits.

Stay tuned next month to read my “Genius Tip” on how I beat this challenge!

Join me and share your big Healthy challenge with us below.

I liked Kenmore on FB :)

I am using an awesome site called http://www.myfitnesspal.com to track my calories and exercise. I love it because it has just about any food or exercise already loaded so there’s little work involved other than being faithful to keep up with it!

I have a gym membership that I was barely using before I discovered the site and now i am going 4-5 times a week and have lost 8 lbs! Just seeing what a particular food has in calories makes me think twice about eating it and I have found myself doing alot better because of knowing this!!

    2. Megan says:

I liked them! I am excited for this challenge. I am so not motivated!!

I liked Kenmore on FB. And Jenny, you can SOOOO DO THIS. I made this change literally April 13th last year. Between Weight Watchers and exercise I have shed 66 lbs and am just a couple lbs from goal. And I ran the Cooper River Bridge Run 10k 2 weekends ago in Charleston. Who would've thought a year ago that “I” could be a 10k'er. I've had to explain to my children that this is for me and for them, I'll be around longer if I take care of myself (thankfully mine aren't old enough to make the wise crack that maybe they'd prefer I wasn't around. LOL) But I am a healthier person today because of exercise !! GO JENNY, I'm rooting for you.

    8. Ec_pelkey says:

YES!! I am with you!! I have been struggling to find the perfect time to get a workout in without paying someone to watch my kids. I am starting a run program today on the dust collecting treadmill in my home (if I can find it throught the dust) I started 10PM yoga last week. I am hoping to bump that up an hour (last week was Spring Break). Gotta get control!! BTW, I like Kenmore:)

    9. Renee says:

I have been counting down the days until my youngest son starts kindergarten (119) so I can get “me-time” back. My definite plans include a shower every day and exercise, and then whatever else I haven't had time for over the past five years.

    10. Theaikenparrs says:

I liked Kenmore on FB. Good luck on your goal! I feel fortunate that all my children absolutely love riding in the stroller–so we purchase super high quality strollers (now a double for the twin) and between lots of long walks and sneaking in a yoga class whenever I can I have been able to keep up my exercise routine.

    11. pamela says:

I “liked” them…….After moving my MIL down south to live, my motivation has been less than stellar. I have begun taking back my time in between my children's, husband's, & the MIL…….oh yeah, 2 dogs too!

    18. Barbie0482 says:

I like Kenmore and have found it hard to find time for myself between working full time and being a mom to a very busy 2 1/2 year old! So ready to find time for myself and make some changes!

    32. champsmom says:

I like Kenmore!! I have joined Curves for women. It is a 30 minute workout and I was able to join for free when I gave a bag of groceries for Aprils food drive. So with my coupon deals and sales I joined for a few dollars I spent at the store. The lady's at Curves are so much fun!

    33. Kelly says:

I LIKED Kenmore also! How true how we let activities take over our lives and forget to take care of ourselves so we can keep doing those activities! My family will be joining the challange and take back out time for our health! Can wait to hear your “Genius Tip”!!

    34. Shannon says:

I liked Kenmore on Facebook…looking forward to tips to keeping up my WW motivation. Down 16 pounds so far!

    35. Crystal Lukas says:

I “like” Kenmore. But what I would like even better is to take back some “me time” as well. With a 7 week old and a 3 1/2 yr old, I'm lucky to get a shower as well as remember where I put my to do list. I would love nothing more than to spend more one on one time with my husband, a movie at home would do, nothing fancy.

    36. Heather Straub says:

      I “liked” Kenmore!

      Jeez…I've really gotta start exising!

I liked them too! I like to take time to go on walks with my little one. Its a time for me to get out of the house and for her to look around at the world!

    43. I just wrote a post on my blog about how it's time for me to start taking better care of myself. I focus so much attention on taking care of others and leave myself last. Well, as I approach my 40th birthday next year and I look at myself right now I am feeling the need to make some changes. I'm trying to make healthier lifestyle changes. Nothing fancy, just common sense. Better eating habits, more water, more produce, more walking, etc. It's gonna take a while but, hey, it took a while to get to where I am now so I need to be patient as I take back “me”!
      Jennifer

I am sad, stay sad most days. Depression is such a terrible thing. I want so bad to spend my days outside, walking, working in the yard. but its just not here, within me. My heart aches for my three teenage boys and my husband. I want so bad to be strong and out of this house to work. So I am going to fight back and take your challenge. I will keep you posted.
      Liked Kenmore on FB.

      • Bella says:

DSC, God loves you sooooo much. He has great plans for you. Take one small step and pray for yourself. Nothing is impossible with God for those who believes that with His help, they can overcome. Love you, sister.

      • Lifewithyould says:

I struggled with depression for years. Counseling made me into a whole new, and much happier, person. One of the biggest things my counselor did was making me get out there and do things whether I felt like it or not. I truly believe that this combined with prayer can work wonders! I will be praying that this makes a difference in your life as well!

    47. Mel says:

I liked Kenmore. My challenge is to exercise everyday and to drink more water.

    54. Hdhodges says:

I liked them on Facebook. I am trying to eat healthy. It is so hard when you are on the go all the time but I am giving up fast food living!!

    55. Christie says:

I liked them on Facebook. We are doing kick boxing together as a family now. We love it.

    56. Sweetrepeats says:

I “liked” Kenmore on FB. I try to make a commitment to exercising just like you would anything else. My house may not always be the cleanest because of this commitment, but I am much happier when I exercise. I am making it a habit for my kids too!

    57. Bella says:

Liked Kenmore on FB. Spring is here, I am ready to walk everyday, for my health, because my family loves me and needs me.

    58. Akr916 says:

      I liked kenmore!

    59. KimmiD says:

I liked them on FB and am soo in on this challenge (in fact, was just making plans towards this end last night, so perfect timing!)

    60. Lifewithyould says:

I “liked” Kenmore on FB! I am resolving to make time for a date night with my Hubs (for my mental health and sanity!) My almost 5 month old will just have to learn to be happy with a sitter for a couple of hours!

    61. deborahTuttle says:

      I liked them on Facebook!

    62. Corrina says:

I liked them on FB. My husband and I take our 3 year old son to the high school in the evening. We bring along all kinds of balls to toss and kick. We also jog around the football practice field, fly a kite if there is a breeze, and just spend time together enjoying being outside.

    63. Tooeypew says:

I liked Kenmore on Facebook. I think this is a great challenge and I would like to fit exercising back into my routine as well!

    64. Teri Allgaier says:

I liked Kenmore on Facebook. I am starting to take a weekly hip-hop dance class to help me exercise. To me that is way more fun than other cardio type exercises, and I am not likely to do things that I don't find fun.

    65. Angie G says:

      Liked Kenmore on FB.

I make both my children (2 and 4 year olds) take quiet/nap time for a 1.5/2 hours every day so I can work out and have some time to myself.

Also, once a month I have a girls night out with one of my girlfriend's for some child-free fun!

    66. Merrilyn says:

I need to make exercise more of a routine, for sure. I tend to only exercise when it's for a specific event, so I run half marathons. That buys me 2-3 months of training every year, but I'm not as good the rest of the year. I'm thinking about signing up for the joggermom marathon to get me through another month!

I liked Kenmore…nothing like a chance at an iPad! :)

    67. Eerporter says:

I liked them! Headed to gym now!

    68. Donna says:

I liked Kenmore on FB. And I've decided that more heavy cleaning the house more often and working in the yard, I'll be able to kill two birds with one stone.

    69. Melissa says:

I need to find exercise time, too! I was extremely committed to it until the birth of our 5th last October and now it's almost impossible. I need to start finding time though.I liked them on FB.

    70. Rose says:

      i liked kenmore

    71. Angela says:

I “like” Kenmore on FB :)
Since I started couponing, I feel like I've been making prepared meals more and actually cooking healthy meals less. I'm going to start meal planning along with my couponing to make sure my family is getting the best nutrition possible :)

    72. SEM says:

I liked Kenmore on FB. I don't have kids and it's still hard for me to get all the exercise I need for the day! I just got a membership to a gym (with a Groupon discount, of course) and I'm really excited to get back in the groove.

    73. Kcmac82 says:

I just had my first baby 7 weeks ago so my plan now is to get the baby weight off and get back to a healthy lifestyle. I have started going to the gym again for Zumba classes a few times a week, go on walks with friends at the park, and started cooking healthy homeade meals. The past 5 months consisted of rest on the couch after work and eating out ALOT so I am ready to make my health (and my family's health) a priority again! Oh yeah, I liked Kenmore on facebook, too!

    74. Rea says:

Liked them on FB and today stared counting my calories and need to start exercising as well.

    75. TLPC says:

      Liked Kenmore.

I've been using my Wii Fit & Just Dance. I've lost 11 lbs in 3 weeks. Often my kids join me and it's exercise disguised as family fun. It's not hard to get 30 mins a day and often more if the competition gets heated. LOL

    76. Linda Hydrick says:

I “like” Kenmore on facebook and have joined my kids “dojo” for cage fitness excercise classes (at the family discount price of course!) and am challenging myself to go more than 3 days a week! I feel so good when it is over but boy do I have a hard time getting myself there sometimes!!!

    77. Ingriddeal says:

I liked Kenmore on FB. I have the time for excersize – it's the motivation I lack.

    78. Robinkinney says:

*like* But I don't see the connection between exercise an iPad and Kenmore. Whatever. Hope I win!

    79. Lorrose57 says:

I have been losing weight and exercising since last August. My hubby and I have each lost 35 lbs and we have done, Wii Fit, we walk/run 2 1/2 miles almost every day, I take zumba classes at least 3 days a week, I have a friend who comes 2 mornings a week and we do the Zumba tapes in my rec. room…I make my exercise a priority. I have 4 boys and are very involved in other things, too, but the Joy Bauer diet (the one we follow)and the exercise are at the top of the list for us….
liked the kenmore site on fb

    80. Skippar says:

I liked Kenmore on Facebook. Sometimes I exercise early in the morning, while my husband and child were both still sleeping, or I exercise while my husband helps our child with bathtime. You have to make time for yourself!

    81. JKeels says:

I liked them! I try to walk my dog five days a week. His puppy energy motivates me!

    82. Kellymabe says:

10 seconds ago! Me me me yay!

      • Kellymabe says:

oops yes I liked kenmore forgot to actually write that. My health challenge was to plant a garden to eat more veggies as well as try to go green, and go on more walks with my 6 yr old, 2 yr old, and 5 month old sons!

    83. Boltose says:

      I “liked” Kenmore on Facebook!

I am 21 and through my teenage years, I never once exercised. Recently I have had some health problems and my doctors have told me that I need to treat exercise (and sunlight) like my medications – I HAVE to have it! Because I have lived a completely sedentary lifestyle for years, I learned quickly that it is difficult to suddenly start exercising 5 days a week. So, in February, I made a goal to exercise for atleast 30 minutes, 3 days a week. Now, in April, I am able to exercise 3 days a week for about an hour each time and I hope to exercise 5 days a week for an hour each time by the end of this summer!

    84. R B says:

      I liked Kenmore on FaceBook.
My healthy challenge is to run more and add some weight training to my routine. The running I've been doing has been so sporadic. I ran my first 5K this past weekend and while I finished I was disappointed at how much I had to walk instead of run. My goal is to become more regular with my training and to be able to run the entire next 5K with a much better finish time.

      • alabell says:

Sorry! That was me. Accidentally posted under my husband's login. Didn't realize he was logged in until after I hit POST. Whoops.
