Hopefully this is the last update about the JCPenney Step 2 Patio Set deal.  Turns out most of the orders that were placed are not going to ship, but the good news is JCPenney is working pretty hard to make it right.

Anyone who had their order cancelled due to lack of stock is receiving an email with a coupon code for $50 off a $50 purchase, so be sure to check yours if this applies to you.  You can use it to get something else you need or grab a similar toy for about the same price.

I know its frustrating not to get a confirmed order, but like all of us, companies mess up and at least they are making an effort to fix it. If you don’t see the coupon email in your inbox, check your spam folder.

    • I got this coupon the other day and am very impressed with the way JCPenney handled this situation. They easily could’ve just said the pricing was wrong and cancelled all the orders. Or, could’ve given us a $15 coupon since that was the price listed on the patio set. I feel giving us a $50 coupon is over and above what was necessary and am quite pleased with their excellent customer service.

      I had a similar situation with Staples this weekend. On Saturday they had a daily deal on a 12 pack of Sharpie markers. They were discounted down to $3 with free shipping. I placed an order and got an order confirmation but received an email on Monday explaining that they didn’t have enough stock to fulfill all orders and my order was being cancelled and my card had not been charged. Today I had a $5 deposit show up in my bank account from Staples and when I called customer service they said it was their way of apologizing.

      I got my email with the $50 credit a couple days ago. They handled the situation with great customer service. I didn’t really care whether I got the item or not. I just bought it because it was too good to resist. I have had items I ordered online get canceled numerous times, but the companies always make up for it.

      I placed an order before my mom and sister and they both got the e-mail about the $50 credit.  I still haven’t received anything and the transaction is still pending on my credit card…maybe I’m getting one?

        I got  a similar item on jcp,com for $60.00. $50.00  off + 5.99  shipping – cheaper  than  the  one  I would’ve gotten.  The  other  one  was  prettier  color, but  I  like  the  one i got with  two benches, not  just 2 chairs, since I have  4 young kids!  I am happy!

      I was impressed with how JCPenny handled this. I called twice to ask about this and they were super nice both times. Made a loyal customer out of me..waiting for my $50 to arrive still!

      I just logged into my JCP account to track the order and it says “factory shipped”… and I never received an email, so I am guessing I am getting one? Says estimate date of arrival was Jan 10th.

      I used a $15 gift card to pay for part of mine..I got the email yesterday and my credit card wasn’t charged…but do they put the money back on my gift card?

        I used a giftcard too. Said I wasn’t charged also….however when I checked my gcard balance after receiving this email, my balance has not been restored. I emailed their customer service since it was so late at night when I noticed. I did however go ahead and order some stuff with my free $50 :)

      I’m bummed about not getting the set, but couldn’t be happier with JCPs response! Free $50??? THANK YOU! I ordered those santa diapers on clearance from BRU and they cancelled my order used up my gift card and didn’t offer me even a coupon in return, so I can certainly appreciate when a company really tries to make it up to me!

      TThey drafted the money out of my account but haven’t put it back. I called and they said it should be back in my account soon. I already received my $50 email. The Easter bunny is bummed about the cancellation of the table.

      I also got the email (a shipment notification) that they could not fulfill my order but no $50 credit was mentioned. Does this come in a separate email. I’m really upset. Mine showed shipping until yesterday. This was supposed to be a present for my sons birthday on Monday. Guess i have to go out and find something else now.

      I called yesterday to ask about my order since it said it was supposed to ship on the 10th and the customer service rep told me that it was shipping out that day and that I’d get the shipping tracking info today. But today I got an email saying that they are out of stock and my order has been cancelled and they regret that there’s not anything more they can do to help me. I didn’t even know all of this was going on with the error in pricing until I came on here to see if anyone else was having this problem. I’m disappointed that they didn’t contact me sooner about it. I even emailed them on the 10th asking about it because it was supposed to ship out then but the online status hadn’t changed – still haven’t gotten any response. I get that mistakes happen, but they never told me anything about it. It seems that they could have easily written an email to send out to the masses letting them know what happened. The email I got from them today didn’t mention anything about a pricing error – or a $50 credit – just that the manufacturer ran out and there’s nothing they can do to help. I sent another email this morning regarding the less than stellar customer service on this order and just received a response that said they were still planning to ship the order as of yesterday, but the supplier ran out LAST NIGHT which is why they had to cancel my order.  After reading what happened with everyone else, it appears that I have been told incorrect information again – aka, they lied to me again hoping I’d never find out what really happened.  It is just a table, though I was happy to be able to buy it for my girls’ Easter present, and I can live without it just fine.  But the customer service, or complete lack there of is going to prevent me from shopping at JC Penny again.

      I just got off the phone with a JCPenny representative. She said they were mailing the $50 giftcard to my house so I would not find it in my email. I’m good with that :)

      My $50 credit email was in my SPAM email since Jan 9th, but I did not know.  On Fri 13th, I received a cancellation email in regular email.
      Just now, I ordered the Creativity Desk & Easel for $50. Happy again.
      JCP has some great deals, if you check their sale ads. This past year, I bought my wife a 13 pc stainless steel, copper bottom set of pots and pans for $129 – reg $359.
      Hope you guys don’t lose your local JCPenney, like we did a few months ago.

      I just called JCPenney and was told that if you have received an e-mail saying that you will not get the table b/c of insufficient stock, but you have not gotten an e-mail with the $50 code or coupon offer, you should get it in the snail mail by Friday, January 20th.  I didn’t even have to give my order #- she knew exactly what I was talking about when I mentioned the table.  I have checked my regular and spam e-mail folders and I have seen nothing, so I will be looking for it in my good old-fashioned mailbox.
