It is getting to be crunch time and many of you are wondering how to best shop for your kids as they go back to school. While school supplies deals are easy to find, back-to-school clothing can sometimes be a whole different game.
When asked how I save on back-to-school clothing, there are two main points I like to hit. First, shop off-season. It may not seem as fun at the time to buy things your children can’t wear instantly, the amount of money you can save really makes up for it! I love to shop sales and clearance aisles when one season is over in preparation for the next year. For my girls, when they get those clothes the next year, they will be just as new to them as they were to me when I bought them off the rack.
Another idea is to shop online. Stores usually run better deals online than in stores. Better yet, you can find coupon codes to reduce shipping or get a percentage off your order. This can save you the crowds and hassle that come with taking little children shopping. Also, you can always shop through a cashback company for extra savings!

As a single mom of three boys two still in school we are always looking for a bargain but I also still want my kids to look nice they are at the teenage age where they are super picky. We still could use some tops and jackets for fall and they are always outgrowing shoes and clothes… I don’t know whats in the food but kids grow like crazy these days!!! I shop outlet stores for things like jeans and watch sales at local stores and online. I think Old Navy still has $10 Super Cash for every $20 spent sale going. My kids have almost outgrown children’s consignment sales at local churches but if you ask around to find the best sales you can volunteer time to shop the presale and consign your childrens clothes so you can make money as well. My kids and I have started shopping thrift stores we have several in the area that offer clothes at a $1.00 each or have discount days… and let me say again I have picky boys that like name brands and they get really nice name brand clothes alot still new with tags for super cheap prices! Shoes and long pants. My baby grows straight up, not out, so she can wear skirts all the way from maxi to mini, but nothing hides the fact that jeans have become floods! And her feet have seriously outpaced her school shoes!

Almost everything :( I have bought some of the generic stuff, but all of our kids are always gone for the summer (my husband and i have custody of my daughter and his daughter and son, but they have visitation with the other parents during the summer) so anything they have to try on or would want to pick out themselves has to wait until they get back. That means a lot of last minute shopping. It is especially hard because they wear uniforms and a lot of the sizes are very hard to find right before school starts.

Although I don't have children yet, I do have a niece and two nephews who would appreciate getting new clothes for the beginning of school. I especially would like to get the younger nephew “new” clothes because he always gets his older brother's hand-me-downs. As a fun and selfless activity for the children, I would offer them as many new outfits I can purchase with the gift certificate, in exchange they have to donate gently used clothing to an organization like Goodwill or Crisis Ministry.

I have managed to get a few hand me downs but am still lacking lots of clothes. . I still need new underwear, socks and shoes for them. They have a few shirts left but are wearing holy pants. Those I have not cut off into shorts yet. Their backpacks and binders are also from last year. Lord knows I don't even know if they have any jackets that still fit. Going from elementary to Jr high. Everything changes being preteen, style & taste, not to mention we are growing up not out, and high water jeans just aren't cool. Our house just caught on fire and we had to move out. Most of our things that survived the fire smell like smoke. I have a teenager starting high school and we are in need of alot but mostly I want to make sure my daughter has what she needs to start high school.

Since I'm heading back to college, most of my expenses are going towards buying textbooks (thank goodness for places like Chegg and Alibris Books!). I'm also using a portion of my money to help my sister buy her back to school things as a special treat (it's much cooler to shop with your older sister than your mom!) so I'm in charge of getting most of her clothes (shoes, colored skinny jeans, shirts and a couple of jackets). Not to mention double the amount of school supplies (more paper, new calculators, pens and pencils).

I only had to purchase a purple plastic prong folder for my second grader this year as I stocked up quite a bit in the clearance sales last year. I need one item and I'm not having any luck in finding it in the stores. GermX. The stores I've been in either are out of stock or don't carry that brand at all. All my friends are telling me to buy the hand sanitizer that the Dollar Store sells or get Purell. But, the school was particular about requesting certain brands and I'm a stickler for trying to do the right thing. Should I keep searching for GermX or just give up and buy a different brand?

Shoes are on the top of my back to school shopping list. My 9 year old niece who lives with us has gone through 2 pair of sandals and a pair of tennis shoes just since school got out in June. Just when I think I am done with all the back to school shopping one of my little ones go through another growth spurt. I usually shop end of season and thrift stores but my youngest is growing faster than my older two. I've homeschooled for 12 years, and am now putting some into school, so this back to school frenzy is new for us! I still need all the paper products for the kids schools, as well as some random things, like red grading pens and such. Mainly, I still need to buy shoes for all 5 kids, both casual and tennis, since their regular flip-flops aren't allowed.

My 4 year old daughter started pre k wearing her favorite sparkly black shoes worn through at the toes. My 5 year old son started Kindergarten with dirty sneakers that he wore all summer. I would definitely, definitey buy them more shoes. It's been financially hard keeping up with their ever changing shoe sizes. Plus, I LOVE the kid's shoe selection at my local Bealls!

With 3 boys I would be buying sneakers and jeans cause they sure go through them fast. Bealls is a great place to purchase school clothes for boys. Most store don't have many boy items to choose but bealls has a good selection.

We bought a few things for our teenage daughter but she is very particular these days and it is hard to fit her. So we are having a tough time with shorts and jeans. And shoes are always an issue.
With 3 girls in school, school shopping can be stressful, with one who hates to shop but loves to complain about everything we pick, ” Yeah fun, Right”. My girls still need shoes, because they say ” Mom these shoes dont match with this”. As girls get older they defiantly get picky.

I have 5 kids.. one starting Kindergarten, one starting High School and everywhere in between.. My kids really need pants/shorts/capri's to get the school year started. Especially my 8yr old girl who came to me in tears this morning because all her shorts have become too short for her. Shoes would also be greatly appreciated as it is another struggle to find for all 5!
Shoes and uniform pants. My 8 year old is growing like a weed. We tried on his pants and they are all highwaters. The Stride Rite salesperson told me he had outgrown their shoes-he now wears a size 6! Luckily my 3 year old isn't growing quite as fast but still needs some closed toed shoes for school-no sandals allowed.

Wow… there's so much I need it's hard to list it all; clothes (shorts, pants, shirts, shoes, underwear, bras- all of it! I am not doing this for me, I am doing it for my sister who was just recently hospitalized for a week following a kidney infection that turned septic. She is on short term disability through her job but it doesn’t kick in for 2 weeks and is far less then what she normally brings home. And on top of all that her boyfriend just lost his job the day she came home because he had to miss work to watch her three kids. She has two girls that are going to school this year and they are in dire need of clothes. So, really she needs shoes tops and bottoms. This would really help her to get this mini spree. Thanks.
