CVS heard how much you loved the Gas gift card promotion they ran all summer that they are bringing out a new gift card promotion with a number of stores gift cards available!

***To see all of the current CVS deals go here.***

Starting this Sunday, October 16 through December 25, 2011, you can earn $10 gift cards to Macy’s, Gap, Applebee’s, Shell Stations, American Express, Barnes & Noble or CVS every week simply by spending $30 on products clearly marked as part of the “Earn Free Gift Cards” promotion.  You will find participating items from all over the store marked in the weekly ad and in-store.

A few tips:

  • Purchase $30 in participating items before coupons.
  • You can only earn one gift card per week.
  • Purchases towards the promotion do not carry over, so make sure you finish getting your $30 in participating items each week.
  • CVS gift cards are included… awesome!

The best part? You can choose from the participating gift cards and then decide for yourself if you want to keep the gift cards you get back, or use them as gifts for friends and family for birthdays, special occasions or the holidays as we get closer to that time of year.

Tune in Thursday night for a sneak peak at next weeks ad and the first list of participating items.  I’m also going to try to give  you a scenario each week of the best way to earn your gift cards.

    • This is awesome, thank you for sharing it!  So the $30 can be before coupons?

      • Stephanie

The ad states a limit of five gift cards per week, and the cvs cards are included in the list of cards you can receive, not part of the items you must purchase to make the $30 limit.

        • Snasira

          can i use coupons too?

        • Melissa

STephanie… you are confusing me… some people are saying 5 card limit in one week and you have posted twice now that you can only earn 1 gift card per week…. I am so confused!

          • Stephanie

It’s five.  I had only copied and pasted what Jenny originally posted, which was a limit of one.  Now that she’s posted the weekly CVS ad, she says it’s five.

        • 302joe

YOU CAN EARN 5 GIFT CARDS PER WEEK per THE AD …Unless you have some info all of us are unaware of?

          • Stephanie

THANKS FOR USING ALL CAPS, THAT’S NICE.  I was only posting this because it seemed no one actually read Jenny’s original post.  The person above my comment was asking if the $30 could be before coupons and Jenny had already specifically stated that it was.  Furthermore, Jenny had also said that there was a limit of one per week, now that she has posted the weekly CVS ad, she says there is in fact a limit of five.

I was looking at the ad for next week and it says that the limit is 5 $10 GCs per week! AWESOME

    • I <3 cvs!

    • cc2011

YAY!!! I have been having gas card withdrawls.

    • Gintay23

      I LOVE CVS!  :)

    • Always love the gift card promotions!

    • I do too.  Every week, I gush to the manager (that’s usually who checks me out because of my large purchases) what a wonderful job CVS is doing with their customer service and customer care sales.

    • Alison

Amazing! And I thought I couldn’t love CVS any more :) Thank you so much for the heads up and all the scenarios to come!

    • Lil_elaine_nc

Thanks for sharing this…I love getting gift cards!

    • Grocerys4us

Thank for posting this. Makes my future attempts even brighter! I would also like to be reminded if this is $30 before or after coupons. Also, another posted a limit of “5” gift cards per week. Is this so? Thanks for all info.

      • Stephanie

        • Scorchman

I thought you can get up to five per week and you cannot purchase cards to qualify toward $30?
I am confused now….. This is twice you have posted this comment and it doesn’t match with what others are saying….

          • Stephanie

I only posted this early on (copied and pasted from Jenny’s post), before Jenny posted the weekly CVS ad.  Because if you look above at her original post, she had said you can only earn one per week.  Now that she’s actually put the weekly CVS ad up, it states that you can get five!!!  YAY!

    • Alisha

Do we have to pay the activation fee that goes along with these cards or is it waived?

      • Jmanley521

I think only the American Express or Visa cards have the activation fee.  The store and restaurant cards do not have a fee.

        • Ron

I like to knoe if the gas cards has the activation fee if you know ?

    • Anonymous

I saw the add, limit is 5 per week, per cardholder.

    • Amy

CVS gift cards are included? meaning I can buy a $30 CVS gift card and get a $10 card for free? or if I spend $20 on participating products + buy a $10 CVS gift card and I’ll get a free $10 card? Love it!

      • Lamagu

No, by the cvs gift card being included they mean the free ten dollar gift card can be a cvs gift card.

      • GrammarDiva

No, it means that if you purchase $30 in participating products, not including gift cards, that you can have a $10 GC of your choice, including a $10 CVS card.  I don’t think GCs are included.  It’s like the gas promotion – it’ll probably be a combination of food and paper items.  And I just got my $10 CVS gift certificate from Swagbucks, just in time!  Woohoo!

    • GrammarDiva

      I *HEART* CVS!

    • Carol

These will be great as gifts or stocking stuffers!

    • Anonymous

This is great news providing the deals on the participating products are good!

    • shanna

so (and I’m not even thinking of trying this, just curious because the thought occurred to me), if you bought $30 in gift cards (receiving an additional $10 gift card), and then used that gift card to purchase $30 in products, would you receive another $10 gift card, essentially earning two $20 in gift cards for $30 out of pocket…?

      • shanna

wow, typos. If the above is confusing, what I mean to say was…
so (and I’m not even thinking of trying this, just curious because the
thought occurred to me), if you bought $30 in gift cards (receiving an
additional $10 gift card), and then used those gift cards to purchase $30
in products, would you receive another $10 gift card, essentially
earning $20 in gift cards for spending $30 out of pocket…?

        • Anonymous

Don’t think buying gift cards would be a participating product to earn a gift card.  Would have to look at the ad for the participating items that qualify.

        • B_dao

CVS requires that all new gift card purchases have to be made with cash/check/CC. You cannot use a gift card to purchase another gift card. I believe this is true in most retail stores.

    • Fallaya

This is great!  I earned a free CVS gift card through MyPoints, so I plan to “roll” my gift card each week (use the $10 CVS gift card in order to receive a new $10 CVS gift card).  Cool!!

    • Guest

The ad is posted on iheartcvs(dot)com. Promotional items include Pampers jumbo packs, Wisk detergent, Coke/Diet Coke, Bounty extra soft towel, Colgate, Advil, Claritin, Chex Mix, Goldfish crackers, Blue Diamond almonds, Kellogs, Motts, Duracell batteries, and more :)

    • Dixiegirlinafrica05

This sounds amazing!!  I was so sad when they discontinued the gas card promotion; I loved it!!  So happy for another opportunity to earn more cards!!!

    • Shirley

I was looking at the ad scan for next week and I noticed that on the page 4, where it lists more of the items eligible for the gift card deal, it actually says, ‘Limit 5 free $10 gift cards per cardholder per week.’ You can take a look at the ad scan to make sure but it clearly says that on page 4 – it also says that on page 1 but it is clearer on page 4.

      • WendiBrooke

Yes, I saw that too! :)

    • Ashley

I’m actually a recently new shopper to CVS so all of this is new to me, so it doesn’t roll over per week, but say I purchase something on Sunday and then buy something on Thursday, does it roll over per purchase? Or does it all have to be on one transaction/purchase?

      • Anonymous

Your extra care card tracks your purchases, so as long as you buy eligible products from Sunday til Saturday you should get the gift card. Say if you buy a pack of pampers on sunday, it will print at the bottom of your receipt that you have spent 8.99 towards the gift card and still have x dollars left to spend.

    • CouponDiva39

Sounds Great!!! I took advantage of the gas card promotion and used those for our trip to see my son graduate from basic training!!

      • Okellyatl

Big Thank You to your son for his service…and too you as well..can’t be easy being a soldiers Mom!

    • Anonymous

Sweet! B&N is on there. I order my kids’ books for homeschooling through them.

    • Nonreply

      I love cvs

    • SG

Thanks..Jenny…I love getting gift cards!! I enjoyed the summer promotion of gas cards.

    • Brjb579

I soooo love CVS!!! I don’t even try to mess with Rite aid or Wags anymore! CVS Rocks!!!

    • Rach3lbu11man

    • Jmo24849

Unless I am seeing things…I see that it says that there is a limit of 5 gift cards per week!  Its right on their ad for 10/16

    • ericswifeowensmom

yay, i just looked at the add for next week and advil and advil pm are participating items and i’ve been saving my FREE coupons for each of these for an awesome CVS deal!!!

      • EL

Will that work? It says before coupons.

        • Czalinsky

yes before coupons means, the total of the $30 is the retail… If you have $30 in coupon and your OOP is $.0 you still get the deal

    • Melissa J

So stinkin’ excited about the gift cards! And it on things that I actually use! :D YAY CVS!

    • Mela1055

So I am NEW to CVS and am deciding to jump on this now. (I usually buy everything from grocery store)
So this deal is purchase $30 of select items and receive a $10 gift card (of participating cards) FREE. You can get up to 5 cards a week per cardholder.
Now… the $30 spent… this is BEFORE coupons- correct? So I could have coupons for items and say out of pocket only spend $6.98 but still qualify for the free gift card?
I just to make sure I am understanding this correctly :) Thanks so much.

      • Czalinsky

Only 1 card per week, yes before coupons, and yes to the next Q.

        • Czalinsky

ok now i’m not sure about how many cards per week.. I see conflicting adds.. I guess it is 5 cuz that is what it says on there add

          • Scorchman

My question was about cardholder… not the amount of cards you can get. So the answer was correct…. 1 cardholder. :)

      • Savn2gether

Yes. As long as the participating items have good coupons, this could be an awesome deal!

    • Jmo24849

I just called my cvs and asked what the limit of gc’s are per week and she confirmed it is FIVE per week!

    • 2educ8

I see that some things are B1G1.  Would the cost of BOTH products be counted toward the $30 or just one?  (I didn’t know if the B1G1 would be considered a “coupon” or an in-store deal.)

      • Thuy

When things are advertised to be B1G1 (which means you don’t have to give them a manufacturer’s coupon for the deal), the free item won’t be counted toward the $30. HTH!

    • Bonnie

      Can I buy (5) $30 CVS gift cards and get 5 GC’s?

      • Karen

I do not think that is true. I think you make 5  30.00  purchases of qualified items and you can get 5 gift cards.    so purchase 150.00 in qualified items and you  will get 5 ($10.00)  gift cards.  I believe that is what she is saying, but I may be wrong!!!

      • Mpmiller25

I think it states above that you can only earn 1 per week?  You have to shop weekly.

        • Cynnhall

the ad clearly states on the cover of the deal sheet that the limit is 5 cards ;) happy shopping

      • Mcleodsc

CVS gift cards were not included in my ad.

    • sam

just scanned my card and got a coupon for a free $5 CVS gift card for going to the pharmacy to ask for a Medicare Part D Brochure!  Only took a minute to wait in line and get the gift card activated!  :D

    • Txtino

great deal when u buy with diaper deals buy 6 get 7th free – use those pampers coupons less ur gift cards = like paying for  less than $5/pack!!!

      • Mel

I got 3 packs of pampers diapers plus wisk for $14.27 plus got my $10.00 gift card.

    • Usc1979

my ad states that there is a limit of 5 Free $10 gift cards.  Is this correct?

      • couponkik

On a couple of posts below someone stated that she called CVS and they said yes. Might want to check your  CVS though.

    • Maganwelch

I work for CVS and in Georgia it is 5 cards per card per week.

    • Gingiraffe

They told me at the register yesterday that the CVS gift card was for the actual pharmacy only and not for use in the store.  Is this correct or was my cashier mistaken?

      • Mel

My gift card was for the whole store

    • Sillymom2three

My ad says 5 cards a week too

    • marlyn

FYI – I had trouble with the Gift Card Promo today.  I bought $65 in promotional Gift Card Products and had $32 in coupons.  They only issued one $10 Gift Card.  The store thought it was because of my coupons, but I knew that wasn’t true, so I called the Customer Care Number from the store.

They spoke to the cashier, and told her that the coupons weren’t an issue.  Then we found that only $57.65 rang up as eligible items for the Gift Card promotion.  So I bought a few $1 Candies in the promo and the 2nd card was issued.

However, I spent $65 in Gift Card products before coupons, so this shouldn’t have been an issue.  CVS is looking into it, but they are 48 hours behind the store, so when I hear something, I’ll keep you posted.

    • Mcleodsc

Had a problem getting the gas card to activate today. Manager told cashier it was because the gas cards were not supposed to be part of the promo. After he opened up another register for the line that had formed, the cashier leans across the counter and whispers look here-and points to where it has the gas card included. She said you might want to call CVS about it. Well I do not want to cause any problems. I just got an Applebees card instead. Don’t know what was up with it not activating.

    • MIAMI

is it 30 before or after coupons? im in north miami

    • Lori Cray
