I don’t normally get into listing recalls but there have been so many deals lately with Eggo products that I fear some of you might have entire Eggo freezers and need to be alerted.  Kellogg’s has just issued a recall of two Eggo products:

Eggo Cinnamon Toast waffles 10 pk ,with the UPC code 3800040440 and labeled with “Best If Used Before” dates beginning with: NOV22 10 EA, NOV23 10 EA and NOV24 10 EA.

Eggo Toaster Swirlz Cinnamon Roll Minis 8 pk, with the UPC code 3800023370 and “Best If Used Before” dates beginning with NOV15 10 EA.

If you do have any of these packages you are to return them to the grocery store for a full refund.

(thanks Veronica!)

Jenny .. the picture is Cinnamon toast CEREAL .. is it cereal or the waffles?

    • heather

Hmmmm … most of us probably won’t have the UPC symbol left on our boxes b/c we cut them all off for the rebate!

    • jon

I don’t have any of these, but would the recall potentially make this a huge moneymaker for anyone who bought these on a BOGO sale w/ coupons?

    • Krista

Uh huh and what are all of us couponers do who a) already cut out the UPC codes and b) threw away the boxes to make room for all the eggos in our freezer!

Oh well. Off to see if I have these eggos in my freezer so I can throw them away!

    • Kathi Eckler

Hi, I am Kathi Eckler and am Associate Director of Kellogg Consumer Affairs at Kellogg. I might be able to shed a little light on this for you. The product that is being recalled was just produced in the last few weeks (after August 17th). If you purchased product before that date, you do not have recalled product. If you purchased product recently and are not sure, it should also be noted that these are frozen products, and if proper package storage and heating instructions are followed, there should be no health concerns.

If you have product that is recalled, please do not take it back to the store. We want to make sure the product is removed from the shelf. Please call Kellogg toll-free at 866-971-3320 and Press 1 and then 1 to request a refund.

We apologize for any concern this may have caused but we recalled to be very safe! If you have any questions, do call us at the above number and press 1 and then press 2 to speak to a representative.

      Thanks for letting me chat!

    • We just ate the last cinnamon toast waffles out of the box Tuesday. Oops!

My date has june 01 2010? Recalled or not?

    • Victoria

Can I get a refund if I got it for free?

    • Angel

We took all of our Eggo products out of the boxes to squeeze them into the freezer, but thankfully I kept copies of the UPC codes. None matched the recall … WHEW!

    • Mina

Thanks for posting this, Jenny. Also, thank you Veronica for passing the word, and thank you Kathi for the clarification. I’d much rather have food products recalled than have potential problems ignored.

Sigh. We’ve always made waffles and pancakes from scratch. The first time I ever bought Eggos was just a few weeks ago. The coupons from the paper and sales at Kroger and Bi-Lo drew me in. I bought around 20 boxes. At least only 2 or 3 were the Cinnamon Toast variety.

Like others, the boxes are long gone in order to more fully utilize freezer space. There are only a few packs of waffles left. Because they were a novelty and a treat, the ones I kept here were devoured quickly. Now I need to contact the people I gave boxes to so they can check their UPC’s, if possible.

    • Already eaten.

    • Rebecca

I just bought 15 boxes of those flavors, plus others too. But I bought them at Walmart. I just checked the exp on all of them. I don’t have any other recall, but I can’t believe that over half were expired. Some back in July!!! I always check expiration dates on dairy and meat, but I never thought to look on frozen waffles. Walmart should be ashamed of themselves for putting expired products on the shelves. I will go back with them, but Walmart is pretty far away and I don’t want to waste the gas right now. I would never, ever buy any food from Walmart ever again. They just lost my business.

We’ve already eaten ours with no illness. But thanks for letting us know about the recall. To Victoria – getting a “refund” signifies paying for something in the first place. I think it is pretty immoral to ask for a refund when you got something for free.

    • Julie

Thankfully I didn’t have any of these but even if they were “FREE” at the time, they are not now (plus my coupons are all used up!). So I don’t think it’s unethical or immoral to get a refund to replace the item. Afterall, I stocked up b/c I knew my family would need these during busy Back-To-School time.
