I have been in Tennessee all week so I have no great savings to report.  Its been crazy hanging out with great bloggers and getting re-energized!  (I also got to meet Dave Ramsey today which was just awesome!)  You guys came to my rescue though and had an awesome shopping week! Check out all the savings pictures sent in by Southern Savers readers of their purchases.

Total Before sales and coupons: $3398.14
Total Spent: $980.38
Total Saved: $2417.76 or 72%

This was for 27 families added together and is just awesome!!!!

**I would love for you to send in photos for next week too, I’m thinking my couponing will be a little absent in Haiti (I’m beyond excited that it’s time for this trip though!)**

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or link directly to your posts. (We are using a fun new system and if you link to anything other than your savings post it’s not gonna be fun)

I grabbed the Amazon Groupon earlier this week. I needed diapers so I went to Amazon.com with the $20 Groupon, a 20% off code, and a $10 off code…I got two cases (240 diapers) for $8.47 (add the $10 spent on Groupon…it’s actually $18.47)!

    • Donna

Wow, that's awesome!! I never thought to take pictures, but I will in the future. :) I only went to Rite Aid this week, but I had a killer week still:

      Rite Aid:
      Total before coupons – $46.91
      Total after coupons – $2.95
      Saved over 97%
Got back $29.98 in +UP's too

Dave Ramsey is great! We have been working his plan since April last year. Although we are not debt free yet we have financial peace just knowing we are paying debt down and not adding to it. I should thank you for letting me know about the first free financial peace class. Going to the clasees helped get my husband on bored. You have done much more than save me money! Thanks Jenny:-)

Who is having the great deals on Seventh Generation products? I don't remember seeing anything other than the coupons in 1/23 paper. I would love to stock up, though!

    • Couponqueen769

Cracks me up that when people take pictures (including me), they don't just stack stuff, it has to be artfully arranged. What a bunch of dorks we are :), but we're laughing all the way to the bank!

Went to Kroger with my husband and 10 year old Wed.. They went to Barns & Noble while I shopped. I got caught up in just getting things off the shelves and not counting them because everyone was just grabbing everything off shelves. Then I got a little overwelmed because I had so much stuff in my buggy I didnt know if I had the right count or even how much it was gonna be. I also had left my phone in the car and couldnt call my husband to come help. Anyway I cried just a little and pulled myself together barrowed Krogers phone waited on my husband and then got in line. Had so many coupons then they wouldn't come off had to close my line to get it straight. But in the end I did really well.

Before store discount and coupons it was around 220 in the end I wrote a check for 79 and 5 of that was taxes.

Still need to work on organizing coupons and watching the cashier as the coupons come off.

You gave me my laugh for the day! Thank you!

Good work even without a plan to follow!

I can't help but be a little frustrated when looking at some of these photos. I am a coupon shopper, and I love getting free and really cheap stuff, especially groceries and personal care items. What I cannot understand is why people feel it is necessary to get everything a store has. I only had one chance to go Krogering this week, only to find several of the best deals completly gone. Total Frustration. Yes, when the deal is good, I will buy what I need, say for the next 6-8 weeks, like Jenny has taught us, everything goes in cycles, I will not however, EVER, clean the shelf out! There are more people just as needy for a good deal as you.

      • Sdavis29456

this is kind of getting old…. while it is not you personally, someone complains about the amount that some one buys every single week…. Jenny does a GREAT job stressing the importants of only buying what you need unless you are donating it to others and only buying 6 weeks at a time. The people that are true SOUTHERNSAVERS.com members, do as jenny has asked and consider others. If you saw my list from Publix you may say why would you need all that. No one knows what anyone needs are may be planning, so why judge anyone that does send in there picture.

Publix(only went to get milk and free stuff)- OOP 6.64 Saved 128.96

        59 yoplaitplus
        15 country crock butter
        oreo mini

Anyone looking at the list would say HORDER!!!! but really, needed to supply the kids in my daughters kindergarden class snack and was a little short in my budget. Had family, friend, and teachers print coupons for me.

THANK YOU JENNY and the SOUTHERNSAVERS.com team for the blessing you give my family every week. Even though my husband has lost his job, my children do not have to suffer because of your efforts.

Please watch your judgemental nature, you may miss your blessing in the process.

        God bless everyone!!!

sorry forgot to say, went to 4 stores to ensure that the shelves were not cleaned. and left as many on the shelves as i took. (called the publix by my house to find out when there truck came in_Monday_ and went that after noon for good stock).

      • couponingprincess

I placed a preorder for the Reach toothbrushes that wound up being free at Kroger. I got 20 (it was part of the mega event) no shelves were cleared and now I have a alot of toothbrushes to donate. I have gone to the stores plenty of times to find shelves cleared that is why I preordered the toothbrushes so I could take advantage of the deal without feeling gluity about it. I do agree with about clearing shelves

    • 3monkeysmom

Winn-Dixie: Spent $20.59, saved $59.64 and my receipt has a coupon for a free flu shot :)
      Publix: Spent $95.32, saved $198.27.
      Total Spent: $115.91, saved $257.91.
I normally don't spend that much at Publix (and I rarely shop at Winn-Dixie) but I stocked up on Morningstar Farms since it rarely goes on sale.$14 of that was spent on Dt. Cranberry Sierra Mist because I'm completely obsessed with it and can't find it everywhere :) And now that I'm looking at how much I spent on them, I think I need to kick the habit……………

      • CTaylor

That is my Mom's favorite drink EVER. She stocked up on it as well since it's hard to find during the “nonChristmas season”

        • 3monkeysmom

Very hard to find and usually when a store does carry it, they only have 4 or 5 of them and YEP, I grab every one of 'em ;)

    • Jen

Publix: Spent $38.23 and saved $133.96. (a big plus was that my favorite cashier was there and she is beyond nice! I love it when I can get my deals with friendly cashiers!)

    • Mickiegibbs

Well, I'm still a rookie and reading a lot of everyone's posts proves it. But I'm proud of what I did tonight.

Spent $108.82 at Kroger, Saved $45.25
      – Looked at my receipt afterwards, and my $5 Weight Watchers SmartOnes coupon apparently only scanned for $1. Grrrr….

Spent $23.98 at Publix, Saved $26.27
      – The first Publix I went to was out of Juicy Juice and I had the coupons I wanted to use, so I went to the next Publix and found them!

      • Mickiegibbs

Oh…and we also used a Restaurant.com gift certificate tonight. Paid about $20 for a $45 meal!

    • LA Henson

Jenny- can you give us details on the seventh generation deal??

    • luiza

No pictures, but take my word for it: Spent 27.94 at Publix, paid $4.84 including taxes and 18 eggs w/o coupons, for which I paid 2.29. My best Publix trip so far. The manager came by and said: “wow”. :)

    • jen

dave ramsey is my hero. glad you got to hang out with him!

    • Scarlett

Publix: Spent $60 saved $145. The biggest deal was the Texas Toast garlic bread. It was 50% off which made it $1.07. I had $1.00 coupons for each box. Making them only .07 each! I bought 24 boxes (I share with family and friends) for a grand total of $ 1.68!!

      • Telitha

thats great on the Texas Toast! I got them too but mine rang up $1.64 and i had the $1.00 off coupon also so I paid 64 sents, but thats ok for me, but congrats on the .07 cent taost! :o)

    • How do you remove a link? I posted the wrong thing and don't want to get in trouble with Jenny!

      • It's fixed :) just email me if needed in the future

    • Vtbelyus

So jealous! You got to meet Dave Ramsey. I have tried to follow his plan for several years now and am actually out of debt except the house. Now I am using coupons to help keep costs down.

    • Swood97

Kroger Friday night trip was great. $73.32 bill came down to $31.90 for a total savings of $33.27!!

    • andie98

      i'm not seeing the links…

    • CouponNERD

Haven't been to Publix yet for this week's sale, but I went to Kroger last night for the Mega Event.
They paid ME $3.36 to take a cart full of groceries! I had a pharmacy reward that I used, then they scanned the coupons and that's how they owed me money…
The total before specials and coupons was $111.

    • Sweetk3346

Dave Ramsey helped me get out of debt & you Jenny, help me stay out of debt. Thank you everyday day for everything you do!

    • Connieb03

That's amazing! And you got to meet Dave!!! How cool is that! We're on Dave's financial plan too!

    • Wolfpackwife

I'm new to your way of couponing, while I doubt that I'll do as well as most of the group, I had an amazing trip to Kroger. I had the cashier scan my card after he rang everything up and it total just over $91, after coupons and my 2 $5 instant rebates for the canned veggies, I paid $36.56! Then I took myself on a reward trip to DressBarn (been saving anyway) and got an entire outfit for under $24 (total should have been around $75)! I'm looking forward to my cotinued savings, I've cleared out space in our pantry for more! Thanks Jenny!

Thanks Jenny for all you do to help us save money. We are also on Dave Ramsey program. Gas is the big thing that gets us since he drives 1 1/2 hours to work every day, no jobs in our area for his career field. We take it one day at a time.

    • Jeffsgal05

Hi , I am a mother of 4 and recently watched a show on TV about couponing. I never thought you could save so much using coupons. With 3 growing kids and a baby my grocery bill is right at 800-1000 a month. Could someone give me tips or pointers on how to start couponing. I always thought you could only use one coupon per product. Please help I would love to cut my bill in half. My email is jeffsgal05@yahoo.com Thanks so much

      • luiza

    • Telitha

I went to Kroger and Publix today and had $354.95 worth of groceries and only spent $131.72, so a savings of $223.23!!!!! For me thats GREAT! I was getting Hunts tomatos for 13 cents, WOW! (so i got 15 cans, haha) I LOVE Southern Savers! This site has cut my grocery bill so much and Im getting more too! How great is that! I actually like going to the grocery store now. lol Its mine and my friends Saturday morning thing now. Thanks sooooooo much Southern Savers! BTW, Im running out of room in my house for all of these groceries! :o)

    • My blog is a general life blog, not a coupon blog. But I added my site as well. Thanks for all you do Jenny.

    • Mandeylei

I have been couponing about a year now and I LOVE the money I save. I buy 3 papers a week and I usually save around 50%. I do have to admit that I get a bit frustrated when some of the better deals are sold out 2 days after the ad runs. I mean really, did that lady have to buy EVERY toothbrush in the store, you only change every 3 months…. and all the dishwasher stuff, what about the rest of the people in your county? Where do you store all of this stuff anyways. I have 2 kids, no government assistance, my husband and I work hourly jobs, and I still care about leaving for others. The grocery store and the deals arn't going anywhere. Why is it that some ppl feel like they should be the only ones to get the good deals?

      • katie

I totally agree I was more than disgusted when I saw that. It one thing to stock up but another to buy just to buy. Take only what you NEED.

        • Mandeylei

Thanks for the support katie! I'm hoping that some of those “super buyers” read it and stop to think for a min. before they think they need 24 toothbrushes because they are free.

          • mm

I completely agree. The picture with the multiple bottles of Maalox freaks me out. I occasionally do a deal for stuff I don't need so that my RR's don't expire at Walgreens…but I usually manage to give away what I can't use myself. I'm not judging, just saying…if you get something you can use up before it goes bad or expires, then you aren't really saving money, in the long run. Just my opinion…if I got that many toothbrushes for free I'd definitely be passing them along to a shelter once I gave away what my friends and family need. I hope that's what that lady is doing and not just stockpiling 10 years worth of toothbrushes. There WILL BE another deal on them in a few months, you know!

I manage to do enough deals to keep myself stocked in healthy food choices…what good are 50 bottles of tobasco sauce gonna do me? LOL

And I haven't run out of shampoo or contact lens solution in a long time – but my extras of that kind of thing go to family members that need help or my church's food pantry. I don't shove it in a closet somewhere just to satisfy my need for “stuff”. I get enough of a rush just bringing my sister a bag of deodorant for her two teenage boys! :-) Now that's an important purchase!

            • luiza

Right. And also it bothers me that when all this unused stuff expires much plastic, glass and other things will go in the landfill without any attempts at recycling. This “demand” will cause manufacturer's to produce more and who knows how much something which is intended to be a blessing and help will in the long run contribute to adding to the already enormous levels of pollution around us.
