Gas Shortage on East Coast

gas-shortageIf you live on the East Coast, you might want to fill up your tanks while you can!

A major pipeline that produces gas to millions of people on the East Coast has leaked and been shut down for several days.

Full service will not be restored until next week, so there is the potential for gas to spike 5¢-15¢ in Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia and 10¢-20¢ in South Carolina over the next week.

There is also the potential some stations might run out, so go ahead and grab some while you can.

I was filling up today as the guy was changing the prices. $2.24/gal up to $2.39/gal. I got in just under the wire saving me approx $2.50 in all. Not much , but it’s something.

Please forgive me if I’m skeptical of any purported reasons for price increases.

I have watched prices rise by 15 cent in 2 days in North Carolina, at least this explains why!

But, in Dakota, the industry says pipelines are safe and don’t leak. Really??

gas spiking up 40 cents per gallon here in Nashville. I know of 2 krogers that are already out.

Thanka for the heads up! I just filled up in Richmond, VA for $1.99. Thankfully I only needed a quarter tank and I work from home.

I understand some stations are already out of premium as of last night, Hendersonville, NC

At least here in Tennessee, government officials are working hard to ensure plenty of gas is available, and they are requesting that people wait to fill up until they need it. Gas stations have already run out, but only because people are lining up to fill up out of panic. Please, if you can wait a few days, do. Prices have already shot up, so you’re probably better off waiting if you can, anyway. Odds are, deliveries will be relatively uninterrupted. Whatever you do, don’t be like the jerk my friend saw who was filling up his boat yesterday.

Gas in Atlanta went from $2.04 Wednesday to $2.79 today (Sunday) but many gas stations are completely out. Please don’t add to the panic, if you wait, more gas will come.
