Does anyone else besides me think this is wrong? lol. I paid like $20 for my year supscription.

      • Itchin2bstitchin

I was just calcuating it and I can't see how it's a $71.94 value. Does the regular Sunday paper cost $3.00? I pay that for the double paper I get each week at the grocery store.

        • Kristie

I think the regular Sunday paper is $2.50. So if there are approximately 4 Sundays in a month x 6 months….that would be 24 papers x $2.50 = a $60 value. I may be wrong, but that is what I came up with. I pay $3 every Sunday for the double paper.

          • KJ

Actually the regular paper to be delivered is $3.00/wk. So it will be a 71% difference compared to the delivery price. If you go into the store the paper is $2. You pay a $1 extra for convenience.

            • KJ

              I meant a $71 difference. not 71%

      • karen

I am sorry, I meant for my 6 month subscription

        • Where did you get that deal? I pay about $40 for mine…

    • Carol

not sure what is going on, my email from them this morning, and when I pull up Groupon for Atlanta it is not the newspaper deal it is something else, I have been trying to find it but don't see it anywhere

      • Kristie

Hi Carol. I didn't find it either. It pulled up a Japanese Steak House deal, but I found the deal over on the right hand side. Just click on the link and it will open up. I hope this helps.

I dont' think this is as great a deal. Regular newspaper is $2 + tax, Double issue is $3+tax. So for a regular paper it would be $51.36 which would save $21 but I usually get the double issue, so if I signed up here and still bought a single issue that would end up costing $30 + $51.36 = $81.36. Where now I am paying $77.04 every 6 months for the double issue and that's only if I choose to pick one up every Sunday, which I don't. So Karen , if you paid $20 for a year I like to get that subscription.

    • Rita

Karen, I'd love to know where you got that deal. It sounds great. I paid around $90 for a year of Sunday only AJC last year, that's due for renewel in June.

      • karen

Rita, I am sorry, I meant 6.. I just went back to my account and saw it. But a tip for everyone.. Usually there are people outside stores like food lion trying to get you signed up and they offer great deals.. I recently saw a man outside a food lion in marietta signing up people and giving $10 FL gift cards. I do not remember the exact deal but it was cheap. The catch with them is that you have to end your subscription after the period you signed up for because if you do not they will bill you the regular price.. anyway, ajc.com/discount is always 50% off

      • I read that the deal can be used to extend a current subscription, too!

    • Has anyone tried to get this deal through Swagbucks? I looked around their daily deals, but I don;t see this particular Groupon deal. I think the points would work out to a better value than ebates, but I might have to go with the latter if there is no Swagbucks link….

Considering how high gas is getting, I consider this to be a good deal. I don't buy the double issue, I accept coupon donations from others for our church's food pantry and print coupons from the Internet.

    • Chrissy

If you have a Discover card, you can also go through “shopdiscover” and earn 15% cashback on Groupon purchases.

I renew my membership when I canget the sunday only for $1.48- $1.99 per issue. You find these at the stands where people are set up outise stripmalls and grocery stores. I signed up for auto pay last year and they locked in my rate as long as i keep paying.

I buy the double AJCs at my local Kroger every Sunday, and this Groupon price is the same as I pay per paper. However, we've been having a lot of trouble over the last few months with missing inserts. We rarely have all of the inserts that those in Atlanta get (we live in North Georgia….Gainesville). I've been in contact with the AJC customer service many times, and they tell me that when they run short on inserts, they leave them out of the papers going to the outlying areas (thanks a bunch!). So, I'm concerned that if I subscribe to this deal, I still wouldn't get all of the scheduled inserts. Any thoughts?

      • Amandae21

I'm in Flowery Branch and have the same issue with Kroger here. I've found that my nearest Walmart (Hamilton Mill… I've had success in Oakwood as well) has all the inserts, but I hate going to walmart.

        • Michelle

          Thanks for the tip, Amanda!

        • 05Jacksmom

Hey Amanda! I went to the Publix in Flowery Branch on Sunday and got 4 papers. None of them had any inserts, so I took them back and got my money back. Their customer service said that people stand there and take the inserts out at the store. I have no idea why they would allow that. To me, that is stealing. I wouldn't pay for papers if it was ok to take the coupon inserts for free. I have had better luck at gas stations because people are not going there to use the coupons right away.

          • Webby

I think it is stealing. Just because there is a free prize in the bottom of a cereal box does not mean it's ok to open the box and take the free prize out, leaving the remaining box on the shelf. I'm sure your store's management would say something about that.

      • Ckfourth

Hey Michelle! I live near you…in Alpharetta. About 75% of the time I don't get the coupon inserts. I call and e-mail everyone I can at the AJC. It's better now, but it still makes me wonder what happens to all of them! Good luck!

        • Michelle

It's funny, I usually call the AJC when I'm missing a lot of my inserts, too (I check them before I leave the store, but many times one or more of the inserts just aren't in any of the papers at our Kroger). Well, I called Monday because there were no Smart Sources in any of the papers (and I checked a lot of them). Sometimes someone will call me back, sometimes not. And occasionally they will send me missing inserts, but not very often. Well, a guy called me back this time and said that I have called nine times since October, and that is extreme, so he was denying my request for the missing inserts!!! I was flabbergasted! I think it's extreme that we've been shorted more than nine times since October. I sure hope they get this insert problem figured out soon!

Find someone who sells papers on Sunday and ask for their leftovers!

        • Angie

There is a flea market in Lithia Springs, that has a woman with hundreds of coupon inserts. She is clipping them everytime I go there. She told me she uses the coupons to buy items on sale at Kroger's and Publix, which makes these items free or almost free, and then she sells this food at the flea market. She won't tell me where she gets these inserts. But there is no way she is buying hundreds of newspapers.

          • Rhornsby

These are the people that really tick me off!!!!!!!!!

    • Amandae21

Where does everyone get the double AJC and for how much? I've seen the doubles but they're always $4, same as buying two regular papers anywhere in town and not having to drive out of my way to get them.

      • Webby

doubles are at Wal-Mart Sunday mornings for $3.

      • My Kroger and Publix in Atlanta have the double paper for $3. WalMart intown doesn't carry the paper, though.

    • Webby

I think it is stealing. Just because there is a free prize in the bottom of a cereal box does not mean it's ok to open the box and take the free prize out, leaving the remaining box on the shelf. I'm sure your store's management would say something about that.
