When I first started working on the deals for this week at CVS I was kinda bummed thinking there wasn’t much to grab.  In the end though, this was an awesome week!  I got $116.90 in products and only spent $9.60 after tax.

Watch the video above to see everything we got and the breakdown of how I purchased it.

A few tips from this week:

  • Shopping with a calculator is a must!  I use the one on my phone, to figure out exactly how much I have to spend on the deals that require $30 or $10 purchase.  I’m a math person but quickly adding $2.77, $3.39 and $4.19 isn’t all that quick… must have a calculator!
  • After stopping by the coupon center always stroll through the areas that the coupons are for.  I almost didn’t grab the school supplies, but after walking over there and realizing that it paired in perfectly with a ECB deal I went for it.
  • Plan out your transactions before going to the register.  This saves you time in the end and lets you get things sorted before getting flustered at checkout.  It also makes the cashier a lot happier!

I started out this week with $14 in ECB from last week.  You can see all of last weeks deals here.

How do you get multiple coupons? Do you buy more than one Sunday paper to get coupons. Thanks!

      • Aisha

I buy 2 Sunday papers every week. An insert also comes in the Wednesday paper. Friends and family often don’t want their inserts and will give you theirs for free (especially if you promise to keep an eye out for deals they’ll be interested in). And, of course, if you have time, dumpster dive and/or recycle bin dive. Four to 6 of each insert is enough for my family, but sometimes I’m lucky enough to get 10 to 20 with dives. Some people are REALLY ambitious and go to hotels, offering to pick up their Sunday newspapers and take them to be recycled (hitting multiple hotels will get you a couple hundred). HTH

        • Linda

Thanks for the video, helps me see what I would have missed. I love couponing and look at your site every single day.

      • crystalgoodwin3

I get 6 Sunday papers delivered every week. In my area, we pay full price for the 1st paper which is $2 and then you can get up to 9 additional papers for $1 each. So I get 6 of each insert plus sometimes our local paper has inserts. It always has the P & G’s when they come out. I also buy the local Sunday and Wednesday paper for the ads and my husband reads the local news. So I spend about $8.50 each week on papers. But I save us so much money even after I figure in the papers. I try to remember and not have the Sunday paper delivered on weeks that there’s no inserts or just the P&G’s.
I can get the P&G’s in my local paper cheaper. And if I still want extra coupons, I dumpster dive. Plus my mom gets 4 Sunday papers so we swap coupons sometimes.

wonderful video, thank you so much for all your hard work in teaching us how to save. May the Lord continue blessing you and your family.

    • Gianna Werner

I don’t understand the math on the first transaction! When I did it, I got that you should have paid $4.24 after ECB and coupons. AM I missing something?

      • Gianna Werner

Just figured it out! It’s because the bogo coupons took off full retail rather than sale price!

    • ttcoupon

at cvs you can use the cvs and manufacter coupon for the kit kat minis?

      • You can! You are allowed to use a store coupon and a manufacturer coupon together at most stores.

    • christi

The coupon center doesn’t print off many coupons for me like it used to. I didn’t get any of those that you got jenny. Does anyone know how that works?

      • I would recommend ditching your old CVS card and getting a new one. Time to be a brand new customer, and then coupons start coming again. Sad that you have to do it, but it works.

        • christi

I will try that. I go every week, just about. U think CVS would give the best coupons to their best customers. Thanks!

      • Rachel

I am like you..I’ve shopped CVS for about 3 years now and all of a sudden I’m not getting coupons either. I called the 800 number and they said nothing is wrong with my card. They generate coupons based on your purchases. I go weekly sometimes and buy everything under the sun at CVS and all I got today was one vitamin coupon (bought vitamins there once). I’m going with Jenny’s advice and getting a new card. That sounds like the best solution to the problem. I love CVS and Southern Savers and I am very grateful for all of the money both CVS and Jenny have helped me save over the years!!!! Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • crystalgoodwin3

Thanks so much Jenny for the video’s. I figured out CVS a long time ago but it’s nice to have a refresher course every once in a while. You do such a good jb.

Question: the body wash coupon printing at the kiosk…is that one per card for the week … or per day?

      • It is one per card per week. I didn’t get another one today anyway…

        • angela

Ok … that’s what I was thinking … Thanks lots, Jenny! BTW, you are my #1 go-to girl for all things coupon!! =)

    • Ann Erven

Love the video’s! I did a pantene deal today and i could not use my extra bucks. I had to pay 6.71. How did it work that you could use your beauty rewards for tax? Thanks

    • Jeffy Walker

Jenny how do you use EBC on taxt? When I try and it beeps. Also why don’t you use your the ECB’s you have on the ones you get back (ex. buy x get x back)?

      • lynn

you can’t use ECB on tax. it only covers your subtotal.

      • I was actually surprised that it took care of tax too. After talking with some cashier friends the only thing I can figure out is that she didn’t hit the “subtotal tax button” until after I used the coupons. I ended up owning it on all the other transactions, just something about that one…

          I’ll hav to try that!

    • Dana Brown

My CVS cashier did not allow the coupon to autodeduct. SHe manually entered it for $3.50.

    • Jessica

Could be that it’s just my area but my coupon for the Crest toothpaste in the 7/07 PG states $1.00 off of TWO Crest toothpastes over 4 oz. I see it here on the site as $1.00 off of crest toothpaste.

      • savannahm0m

My Crest coupon (in the Savannah area) was for .75/1, so there are some regional differences.

    • ltompkins

I am doing something wrong when I try to get my Kit Kat coupons as it does not show up..help?

      • Jessica

They 2.50 coupons are no longer available but if you click the link and refresh the page the 1.00 off coupon is there.

        • michelle

          NOT TRUE…

          • Alecia Lance Rollins

I thought it was gone too but if you make the choice to share on social media (i.e. facebook) it will give you the coupon.

          • Jessica

            WELL THANK YOU SO MUCH…

      • michelle

The $2.50 coupon IS still there…I just printed it. You have to click on the Hershey link at the bottom of the main page, share on social media site and then it will give you the coupon. HTH

    • Kim

How do you get the Beauty Club ECB?

      • Make sure you go to cvs.com and register for the Beauty Club program. It’s free and everytime you spend $50 in Beauty Care you earn a $5 ECB. Plus you may spend nothing on the items (like my pantene purchase) but they will still all count towards your next reward based on the sale price before coupons!

    • BirdBay

What do you do if the Coupon Center machine isn’t working? 75% of the time when I visit a CVS, I get an error message saying that the machine can’t print.

      • lynn

sometimes when I get that message is it because the paper is jammed or out of paper. just ask the cashier and they should be able to fix it with no problem, the girls at my cvs can every time. good luck an I hope that helps.

      • I can also try grabbing one small item you were already planning to buy and check out. The coupons that would have printed from the center will be on your receipt.

    • Alecia Lance Rollins

I used the $5 off 2 clairol products yesterday and got 8 Herbal Essence Shampoos and COnditioners. It says Clairol Product not hair color. It was an awesome score for my back up shampoos! I didn’t get any ECB back but it was well worth the taxes!

      • Joann Medley

So how much were the shampoo and conditioners? And where is that coupon at?

        • BuckeyeShopper

The Herbal Essence shampoos by Clairol are 2 for $5 this week. The $5 off coupon was in the P&G flyer that came on 7/7. Its a smaller coupon and it has a picture of haircolor on it and it doesn’t mention Herbal Essence. But it WILL scan

      • Amie

Nice. I just did the Pantene deal, but I may do this one, too. I think I’d be stocked on shampoo for a year. :) I actually ran out of conditioner and (gulp) paid for a bottle – it was about 90 cents and rolled into a bigger deal, but still it seemed so wrong to pay after enjoying free hair care products for a few years. lol.

    • Amie

I went to CVS today and purchased 8 Pantene, 1 Kit Kat Minis, and 3 Dawn. I used 4 BOGO Pantene that autodeducted the max value of $4.99, 2 $2/2 Pantene, 3 $0.25 off Dawn, 1 $2.50 CVS Kit Kat & $0.25 manufacturer’s Kit Kat, and $5 ECB. I paid $3.51 (more than 1/2 of this amount was tax) and received $10 ECBs so it was a small profit. I received my quarterly ECBs of $3 and I should get a $5 Beauty ECB the next time I shop. I was thrilled because these were all items I use. :)

    • shopaholicdee

my CVS wont let me use a BOGO with a $off coupon (pantene deal). they said i can only use one manufacturer coupon so if the coupon says BOGO then that coupons is being used for both items. if i was misinformed please show me how to prove that i can use both coupons so i can show the manager at my store

    • carolina girl

Jenny- I went to CVS last night (I’ve been a big CVS shopper for a couple years thanks to you) and my $4 off $20 did not come off I had sent it to my card which I always do, two question, this is before coupons correct, my final total was $6 something but before coupons it was over $40, and if I take in my receipt do you think they will correct this? I had a new cashier and I don’t think she new what she was doing, she made a couple other mistakes. Don’t they have to actually apply those coupons to the transactions when we “send them to our card”? Hope that makes sense. thanks for your help!

      • Rachel

I would try to take it back…They do have to apply it…I used mine Wednesday and the cashier asked if I wanted to use it. They should give u money back. It wasn’t expired was it? My $4/$20 printed at the botttom of my CVS coupon machine coupons…saying it was on my card along with my summer savings ECBs…

        • carolina girl

No it actually expired that day, so I can’t use it again and it your right it printed for me and the bottom of my coupons at the big red machine but it’s not one that they can scan and I actually even handed it to her and she just handed it to me it just didn’t dawn on me that she needed to apply it until I got home. thanks for your help!

    • Rachel

I just wanted to share….I went on Wed and did the PG deal but bought paper towels and toilet paper bc I needed it. I bought 3 paper towels, two toilet papers, one dawn and one ProGlide razor for men as well as a gallon of milk so I wouldn’t have to stop again….I used my coupons and extra bucks…had 12 I think….had a great $8 off razor coupon from the mail and $1 off Bounty and $1 off two charmin from battery packs I think…anyway after all that and a $4/$20 I owed $21.xx Got back $12 in ECBs….So not bad including the milk…Then I went today and did the diaper deal…having a baby soon, and body wash….I had a $5/$15 purchase that printed Wed, a $2 CVS coupon for Huggies, a $1.50 CVS coupon for Huggies, (2) $2 Huggies paper coupons, the $2 of body wash coupon and used $7 ECBs from Wed. paid total = $2.69!!!! Got back $5 ECBs!! Still have a total of $10 for next week!

      • Nellie

wtg high five ty for sharing

    • debby

I tried to go back and watch the first videos, but all that comes up is the final week. :-(
