Heads up South Carolina residents! Here’s another way to save on your taxes. To help state residents offset some of the gas tax increase, South Carolina will allow taxpayers to deduct gas purchases or preventative car maintenance costs (whichever costs less) on their income tax returns this year.

The credit will be applied to 2018 South Carolina individual income taxes, which are filed in 2019 so go ahead and start saving those receipts!

Most types of vehicles qualify for the credit but some restrictions apply. You can learn more on the SC Department of Revenue.
