walmart shipping serviceThis summer, Walmart is starting a brand new unlimited shipping service. For $50 per year, you can get FREE shipping on all your online Walmart orders.

Walmart also guarantees that you will receive your items within (3) days. Currently, you can get free shipping on orders of $50 or more. Free in-store pick-up is also available on most items.

For now the program is invitation only, but Walmart will continue to open it up to more shoppers.

How It Compares to Amazon Prime

This new service is competing with Amazon Prime. It’s half the price (Amazon Prime is $99 per year), but it may take one day longer for your packages to arrive. Amazon Prime also includes free eBooks, unlimited Amazon Instant Video, and more.

What are you thoughts on Walmart’s new program?

I don’t have Amazon Prime and I will not do this. Free shipping is an excellent way for me to impulse shop and buy things we do not need. We have cleaned out and donated 7 van loads of stuff since Christmas and way too much of it was that sort of thing.

I have to say this is interesting. As an Amazon Prime member, though, the streaming is an interesting addition and I wonder how well Walmart pricing can compare to Amazon. Walmart has a “reputation” for being a bit low priced, but in the stores when it comes to groceries, most sales do better. Amazon pricing may be hard to beat. But this could make me more interested to compare the two’s pricing a bit more.

NEVER! I do NOT like Wal-Mart. Publix & Amazon get my $.
