When you are first getting started trying to cut your grocery budget you really want to try to plan your meals from the items that are on sale that week. Here is a Meal Plan for the week based on the sales that are starting Wednesday, 8/22, in Publix. While I didn’t plan it, everything this week is ready in 30 minutes or less!
Our goal is to buy items only when they are on sale and to stock up on them to last until the next sale (about 6 weeks). If you have been shopping this way, you may have some of these items already on hand.

With BOGO frozen veggies this week and potatoes on sale, my first thought is always corn and potato chowder! This is a great hearty meal and no one will miss the meat. Add in some free pillsbury grands! biscuits to make it feel like you worked all day on dinner. Just don’t tell them that the whole meal was done in 20 minutes…

Hot Dog Hash, Salad, Green Beans
I feel like hot dogs are considered evil in today’s world, but depending on the ones you buy they really can be a healthy and inexpensive meat option. This week there are good sales (and coupons) on Nathan’s Hot Dogs. A huge favorite in our house is Hot Dog Hash. It’s also a simple meal to cook, that takes maybe 15 minutes, so mom loves it too.
