I’m not usually one to be very vocal about live performances, but I can’t stop raving about a Blue Man Group performance I went to last summer. I was invited to attend a Blue Man Group performance when I was in New York City for a conference last summer and I didn’t really know what to expect.
I knew that the Blue Man Group was a bunch of blue men playing the drums, but it’s so much more than that.
Me and some other bloggers were loaded up onto a bus and driven to the Astor Place Theater to watch the show. My ticket seat was listed as “Poncho Section” and I thought it was just a quirky name for a section of seats and all of the other sections had similar names. Little did I know that I literally had to wear a poncho to sit in this section (I highly recommend this section if you go to a show and have the option).
The Blue Man Group is a vibrant performance that interacts with all of your senses. It’s colorful, great to listen to, and best of all, you laugh a lot. These blue aliens creatively play music while figuring out how to interact on earth and they are playing music with paint, cereal crunches, PVC pipes and more. They never speak through the entire show, so the comedy is more of slapstick comedy.
Some audience participation was involved in the performance with folks getting called up on stage, the Blue Men walking on our seats to go through the audience, and the Blue Men staring into the audience to make you feel like you’re part of the show. One particular time I got Blue Man vomit tossed in my direction from stage, so I’m glad I was wearing my poncho. Thankfully, it was only mushy bananas.
The end of the show was a huge party and rolls upon rolls of toilet paper were filling the room until we were all swimming in toilet paper. Believe me, this is a show you’ll want to see and you’ve got to take your kids along.

The Blue Man Group show is extremely kid friendly. It’s full of color and sound and interaction to keep their attention throughout the whole show. The family portion of the Blue Man Group website offers great resources for introducing the blue aliens to your kids prior to the show, along with fun family activities to engage the group post-show.
The Giveaway:
One Southern Saver reader will win Blue Man Group tickets for a family of 4 to any of the domestic locations — New York, Boston, Chicago, Las Vegas, Orlando, or any stops on the National Tour.
The winner will choose a few dates/locations they want and Blue Man Group will work with them on which tour stop they go to.

Find the Sunday insert preview for 2/7 below. You will get (2) inserts in your paper.
Be on the lookout for:
(1) RedPlum
(1) Smart Source
Remember there are differences between every city and the coupons you get will vary somewhat. Check back next Wednesday to get the exact list of what came out in your area.
Look at the insert schedule for 2016 if you are curious about future dates.
Did you know that every area and paper get different coupons?
This is one of the biggest things that can frustrate couponers… we all want the great coupon and only a few select areas got it. Each week volunteers send in their insert lists so to show exactly what came in your area. I take these and put them into the coupon database. In turn you can then have shopping lists that only show the coupons in your area! Take a look at this week’s coupon insert variations from 1/31.
Click on your newspaper to see which coupons you actually received.
If you’re paper is not covered and you’re interested in helping, feel free to email me at jenny@southernsavers.com for directions. I promise it’s easy!
As folks send me the lists I will update this page.
