We aren’t having a Google Hangout for the next two weeks. I’m taking a week off this week (to teach a live workshop in Atlanta) and next Monday is Labor Day.

I have a big goal for you this September, I want you to pledge to try to cut your budget in every category for one month and save $1000 (or at least 10% of your income) off your current normal expenses.
That’s huge for most families, and it’s going to take effort to make it happen. Why do it? We all have our own motivation to save, but think of what that money could do going into the most expensive time of the year. Whether you use it to have an emergency fund (probably the wisest idea if you don’t already have one) or stick it in a savings account to pay for Christmas, this is your way to make a 30 day effort that will make the rest of the year slightly easier!
Note: I know for some that $1000 would be almost entire months wages and that you already live on a very tight budget. I still encourage you to try to save 10% off your monthly income. Make an effort to check every nook and cranny of your budget and see if you are being a wise steward.
I’m taking this challenge with you and I want you pledge along with me. Share on your Facebook page or even your blog how you are saving, and the progress you are making. Let the world hold you accountable to make this goal happen. If you are a blogger, I would love for you to come back each Monday and share how you are doing. I’ll post my updates with a link up. Share tips to help others or just list out what you did that week to save. Whatever you share it is bound to help us all get ideas.
