When I tell folks that to get better at saving they need to shop every week many of them panic.  They envision their huge monthly shopping trip happening every week.  While you do need to try to shop every week (especially if you only want to follow one stores sales), these really aren’t big trips once you’ve been doing this a while.

This week for us is a great example.  It was a peanut butter, and bread week.  Our house doesn’t run without peanut butter and we actually finished off the last container while it was B1G1 at Publix.  There weren’t any coupons, so coupon or no coupon we grabbed 6 containers (the small 16 oz size mind you).

        Publix:
Total before sales and coupons: $23.51
        Total Spent: $12.46
        Total Saved: $11.05 or 47%

Don’t worry we ate other things too, this was just all we needed.

We also got week two of our summer produce box from our CSA farm, so we had fresh collards, squash, zucchini, cabbage, onions, strawberries and more this week.  I am loving this as much as last year because it forces us to eat a number of vegetables each night for dinner just so we can finish the box in time to get the next box!  Lately we have started skipping starches just to make room on the plate for more veggies!!

How did you do this week?  Leave a comment or a link to your savings post.
