This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Triad Retail Media for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
This week Glade® Expressions™ sent me a couple of their new products to try out and I was pleasantly surprised when I saw what was in the box. When I think of air fresheners, I think of bulky cartridges that stick out like a sore thumb and that take up one of my electric outlets.
I received the new Glade® Expressions™ oil diffuser and I think it’s the prettiest air freshener I’ve ever seen. It’s sleek and stylish and will feel more like a decor item than a household cleaner. The nice thing is that you don’t have to stick this in the wall or put batteries in it – it’s a diffuser so it needs no electricity and lasts 30 days.
While the Oil Diffuser was very lovely, I do have a hard time figuring out where to put it. I’m always worried that the kids may come through and knock it over and break it. If you have young kids like me,you might want to follow our lead of putting in the master bathroom rather than the living room table.
I was also sent the new Glade® Expressions™ fragrance mist, it’s much nicer than the mists we already had. It’s designed to look more sophisticated than others and fit in whichever room you decide to keep it in. For the Fragrance Mist, I received the Cotton & Italian Mandarin scent. It smells so fresh that it brightens up every single room I use it in. You just squeeze to spray, and once you run out you can refill it with your favorite Glade® Expressions™ fragrance!
These fragrances are so long lasting, that if you leave the room and come back, you can still smell the fresh scent lingering. If for some reason you aren’t loving the scent you chose, just send it back with the receipt, the original UPC and fill out this form to receive your money back.
If you can’t wait to try out these products for yourself, Walmart is here to help! They have a $1.50 off of any Glade® Expressions™ coupon for you to use right now.

Entertainment is one of those things that can quickly eat up your budget if you aren’t careful. With three small kids in the house, we are always looking for inexpensive ways to have fun, but still save money.
We made a choice a long time ago to give up cable and any other unnecessary expenses in an effort to live frugally. Over the years, I’ve come across lots of creative ideas, so I thought it would be fun to share my favorites. I’d also love to hear any out-of-the-box ways you save on family fun!
TV, Movies & Internet
Use free codes for Blockbuster Express and Redbox Movie Rentals
There are frequently free movie codes available for the movie kiosks, so take advantage of these offers for a fun free movie night!
Consider a streaming device such as Roku or Apple TV
We cancelled cable long ago. Rather than paying large monthly bill, we invested in a Roku and we can stream lots of content for free. You could also opt for a Netflix or Hulu subscription, both of which are much less than cable, but still have lots of up to date shows. (We are currently enjoying all the episodes of Warehouse 13 for free and didn’t have to get cable to see it!)
Add an HD Antenna
Concerned about not getting local channels or the news? A simple HD antenna can normally pick up 3-15 local stations. For less than the cost of one month of cable, you can get free stations forever!
Call your cable/internet provider for a promotional rate.
We can do just fine without cable, but not internet… Did you know you can often get your bill reduced just by calling the cable company every 6-12 months and requesting a promotional rate? Try chat help if you feel uncomfortable asking for a discount on the phone. You may shave up to 30% off your bill.
One caution: They may try to sign you up for a contract to get a special rate which I always politely decline in favor of a contract-free promotion. That way I have the option to change my mind if circumstances change.
Host a Family Board Game Night
Pop some free (after coupons) popcorn and gather around your favorite board games. We often see huge promotions and coupons for board games around holidays, so grab a few at a discount and enjoy some quality time together. Our favorite board games are Chutes & Ladders, Scrabble and Monopoly!
Free Museum and Park Days
Many museums and national parks have free days on a regular basis. Check out their schedules and plan for a fun day out.
Free Activities around Town
Several retailers including Michael’s Crafts, Lego Store, Lowe’s, Home Depot and Disney Store offer free family events weekly or monthly. Check their event calendars and RSVP for any that interest you. It’s a great way to spend a few hours on a Saturday and encourage creativity with the kids! (There are several free events happening this weekend for Valentine’s Day).
Hillshire Farm has come out with an awesome and easy way to get a delicious lunch on the table quickly! Their new Grilled Essentials farm-fresh chicken comes in 5 flavors: grilled, italian, lemon pepper, hardwood smoked and garlic & herb. Yum!
We eat a ton of sandwiches, though I have to admit, sometimes we get bored with regular deli meats. And who has time to grill a chicken breast every day at lunch? The Hillshire Farms Grilled Essentials are hot and ready to go in 60 seconds! With 5 different varieties, you can really mix and match to make a lot of fun twists on your normal sandwich. I have hopes that these might even get my girls off their peanut butter and jelly kick!
If you haven’t already tried them, you can find these new Hillshire Farm Grilled Essentials farm-fresh meats in the lunchmeat section at Walmart.
Win It:
One Southern Savers reader will win a $100 Walmart Gift Card… That would make a lot of sandwiches! Read More→
We skipped shopping again this week intentionally to save our money for this years CSA Farm box. We did this last year, so this may be old news for some of you, but one of our ways to save on produce is buying a share in a local CSA Farm. In our area we participating in Pinckey’s Produce. We pay for a share at the beginning of the season and then get a box each week with anything that is ripe this week at the farm.
We loved it last year!! Each week we were challenged with a few vegetables we would normally never purchase like beets or rutabagas and found unique ways to cook them. Sometimes it was actually more produce than we could eat that week, so we would blanch it and freeze it to eat after the season ended.
If you are interested in doing something like, head to localharvest.org to find a farm in your area and to learn more about CSA Farms or produce co-ops.
I also spent this week doing a lot of research on products to stock a gluten free pantry with. Thanks for the advice many of you gave me on facebook! I haven’t made any purchases yet, just figuring it all out… but I did start making phone calls! If you have new products you need to buy I would always recommend calling the manufacturer and letting them know.. It only takes a few minutes and you’ll have some coupons in the mail for you try out new brands.
