I know for many of you things are really tight this Christmas. Recently I heard a mom sharing that even getting a tree was an expense they couldn’t handle this year. In spite of all the difficulties I know many of you are still awesome at taking little things and making a household full of decorations and cheer around the holidays.

Home decorating is not my strong suit, but we have found many ways to make our house feel festive for little to no money. Here are a few of my favorites.

      • Take a piece of yarn and tie each end to each side of a curtain rod or nail it to a hidden place above your cabinets. Leave a little slack on the yarn, and then put each Christmas card you receive on the string. Within weeks you will be surrounded by beautiful pictures but also by reminded constantly of the other families thinking of you this year.
      • Make your own Christmas ornaments! Our Christmas tree is probably 80% decorated with homemade crafts made by my girls. For some great cute ideas check out books from the library, we even found some with ideas using recycling items! The pictures above are two that we’ve made. The sand dollar is one of may favorites, we found it on the beach and my husband drew the palm tree on it.
      • Head to local Christmas tree farms and ask if they have any tree trimmings available. Many have a bin that they chunk small branches in and you can take any you like (always ask first). Use these around your house to dress up candles or table centerpieces for FREE!

Now I’d love to know, how do you spread real cheer with your holiday decorating? Please reply below and unwrap coupons and deals from Sears by seeking inspiration in the Cheer Tree. For all your holiday decorating needs and solutions, don’t forget to visit Sears and discover real deals, real cheer!

Sometimes presents aren’t about what you want, they are about what you need!  It’s a rare person that loves ironing, but no matter how you feel about it you still have to do it.

A small confession here…  I don’t iron.  Seriously.  My husband learned that in the first week of our marriage, my theory is that after wearing something for an hour all the wrinkles will come out any way.  I’m married to  a man that can’t stand wrinkles (funny how God pairs people like that) so he does ALL of the ironing.

Recently Hamilton Beach & All You Magazine asked if they could send me an iron to try out, I probably would have ignored the request were it not for my husband jumping at the idea of a new iron.  So we received a Full Size Durathon Electronic Control Iron to try out.

First off the soleplate is so clean versus the 12 year old iron we had.  It is also built with a Durathon non-stick soleplate that lasts 10 times longer than traditional non-stick. It also offers continuous steam that quickly removes all of the wrinkles.  The Durathon Electronic Control Iron comes with adjustable steam, 3-way automatic shutoff, anti-drip technology, a 10′ cord, a hot dot storage indicator and so much more!

When money gets tight many of us sacrifice things that we need to make sure that the folks around us have what they need.  For me that was glasses for years.  I would just squint or accept life a little blurry because money for glasses just wasn’t in the budget.  That was before the days of FREE glasses though!

Right now new Coastal.com users can get a FREE pair of glasses!!

                  To get the deal:

                  1.  Go to Coastal.com and click the “Really?! Click Now” button.
                  2.  Click the “Get your free pair now” and then start browsing.
                  3.  Pick your frames and enter your prescription.
                  4.  Use promo code FIRSTPAIRFREE at checkout.

You will have to pay shipping and handling costs, and any lens upgrades are an additional cost.  Keep in mind that this promotion is for first time Coastal.com glasses customers only.  Certain frames are also not eligible.

All the fine print aside, I was able to get a great pair of glasses for $15 and that definitely beats the $200 I remember paying for an old pair!

Oh and they also have great prices on contacts too.
