Cellfire e coupons

Cellfire upgraded their site today and while it looks great and will be easier to use… there are a few glitches.  If you had any coupons loaded that you planned on using this week they are no longer saved to your card so go back on and reload.  Also a lot of the coupons that were available aren’t there now so…. well…. yeah wishing I had gone shopping yesterday.  I contacted Customer Support and was told that they are just gone and that was about all they said, so don’t go expecting to save without checking your coupons first.

On a good note though they do have 2 free items that you can load and the Cottonelle coupon and Goldfish coupon for this week are still there (just reload them).

If you don’t have cellfire yet and are a Kroger shopper, go here and enter your phone information to get started.  Once you get it set up you won’t use your phone for anything (in terms of Kroger) and they will never text you or use your phone information.  You will load coupons straight to your Kroger card just like Shortcuts and P&G.  You can load other coupons that do use your cell phone to redeem, in areas like Atlanta there are lots of coupons for various stores.

Let me know if you have questions or problems with Cellfire, I have been in touch with folks from the company and they are very open to feedback.

I guess we are so behind here we are on the wrong day still…  I just realized that it is not Monday.  So imagine the title as Tuesday’s Freebies.

You can sign up and leave the beneficiary blank and then when a kid comes enter the name and birthday.  You can also sign up for any relatives or friends and save for them and you can swtich who you are saving for at any point!!   We signed up probably a year before our first two were born and had over $250 saved before we even knew they were coming.  Now after 4years + we have over $1800.

          Pet Peeves

Sometimes there are just moments where you have to say something…

All the local grocery stores are pushing “Feed a family of 4 for $10” meals in theirs ads lately, I feel for the people who think these are deals.  The most recent one I saw was in the Food Lion ad for a spaghetti dinner.  I can make that same dinner for about $3.07 and that’s including buying a salad (which wasn’t part of their deal).

Spaghetti (recent money maker at Publix)  +.40
          Hamburger 3/4 lb (on sale $1.99lb)  $1.47
Spaghetti Sauce (Ragu recently on sale) – .50
Can of diced tomatoes (we add to our sauce) – Free (Muir Glen products w/coupon)
          Rolls (Pillsbury) – Free
          Salad bagged – $1.50
Total: $3.07 and it would probably feed 5 so that’s .61 cents per person!!

When it comes to advertising I actually have a lot of pet peeves so I’ll just stop there for today.

                  Review: Shop.com

                  on 10.9.2008 at 8:58pm
                  0 Comments

There is a relatively new site out called Shop.com and recently they asked that I review/post about their site.  The site is designed so that you can shop and compare prices for the same item at lots of different stores all in one place.  They have over 143 stores that they list inventory from all in one place.  You can shop departments including, Kids and Baby, Home and Housewares, Gardening, Electronics and more.

You can shop most of these stores straight from their website, you can even place items from different stores into their “one cart” and check out one time with items from multiple stores.  During checkout they allow you more savings with coupons using coupon codes available for the different stores to save on your order, and they keep a running list of codes for most sites (though it is not all the codes available for each site).

There are good things and bad things about a site like this.  First, I like being able to compare prices and they even have updated prices for things that are on clearance.  I also like the concept of being able to add multiple stores items to one cart.  I was however hoping that this feature would also reduce shipping expenses and it does not.  My hesitations are that while they do have 143 stores and some are big name stores, you are not necessarily comparing prices for an item at every possible retailer out there.  I rarely make a purchase online buy just going to one place seeing the price and buying it.  It also bugs me that most of the larger stores they have, like Kohls and Ann Taylor, you are not able to buy through shop.com instead it sends you to the main store page.  If you are going to through one site to get to another you might as well go through ebates to get to Kohls and get 2% back.

The site is nicely designed and easy to use.  You might even find a great deal on something without having to do much searching on the internet (probably their intent).  Something that I do like is that through the month of October they have a special page just for items, giveaways and info supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month that raises money for Breast Cancer Charities.
