Redbox Instant: Free Trial

Redbox is jumping into the instant streaming video arena!  They have a new service Redbox Instant by Verizon that allows for unlimited streaming from their online library.

The service costs $8 a month and also comes with 4 DVD credits per month (for dvd’s from a local Redbox machine).  Right now you can get a 1 month trial for Free!  You can find the information by clicking the link on the top right of the page:

At any time during the free month you can cancel your subscription.  If you choose to continue the subscription then you will be charged $8 for the next month.

You sign up with your email address and they will send you an email with more information.  I got an email stating I “was on the list” a few minutes after I signed up.  There has not been another email, however, with a membership confirmation.  This may be a long list?

I have not seen the actual selection of movies in the Redbox library, but I’ve heard that it’s much smaller and more limited that Netflix and Amazon. Many of the popular movies Redbox has are already available on the other two services.

What do you think of the Redbox Instant movie selection?

It took about 24 hours to get my 2nd email, with the free promo code…

I got mine about a month ago. There are hardly any movies that are available for streaming online. I was not a fan. The 4 free credits are nice with the trial, but it’s not worth the $8/month.

My husband was on the beta last month and we cancelled it right away when we saw how pitiful the selection was. It looks like the 4 free codes are still valid until their expiration date even after cancellation, but we haven’t tried using one yet so no guarantees.

I’ve not been impressed with most of the movies that do come out! not much selection in movie entertainment world. We get the free Redbox movie each month and stand in front of the screen not finding much.
