At the beginning of November I was invited to visit the Smucker’s headquarters and learn a little more about them. I was actually one of the few bloggers that wasn’t a “foodie” but it was great to get my hands dirty in the kitchen and have fun making new things. The video above is just one of the cool things that the folks at Smucker’s taught me – like how to make ice cream without the ice cream maker (see recipe)! I also made my first real pie crust (yes make fun) which turned out great.
I think actually you’d be amazed to see what brands are actually made by Smucker’s, it’s not just jams and jelly! To name just a few: Jif, Millstone, Dunkin Donuts, Hungry Jack, Crisco, White Lily, Martha White, Pillsbury (baking aisle)… and many more. The most fun part of the trip was learning what you can make with some of these products. They have amazing test kitchen that dreams up the most tasty recipes. My favorite was their cookie starter mix that you mix up and then keep in the fridge or freezer. It can make over 30 different cookies with one core base starter!
One other favorite part of the trip was realizing that there are more products out there than our stores sell. My new favorite spread is Smucker’s Orchards Finest triple berry!! Sadly this isn’t sold in any of our stores, but I can at least be a happier person having tasted it and knowing it’s out there.

We use the Smuckers Orange Marmalade to create a great dipping sauce for sear flounder that we have caught.

This basket would be wonderful for my daughter. She is striking out on her own for the second time in her life. She is a single parent and has sacrificed her own independence for the welfare of her daughter. We are going ahead of her to paint and do repairs for her housing in another state. I would love to be able to leave this basket on the table as a housewarming gift to her for her courage and stamina during many trials in her life.

The funfetti pancake mix!!! I run a daycare and the kids LOVE when I make them the funfetti pancakes. They are so much more then just a simple pancake. They are also great to use to make a birthday breakfast, add some banana slices for the eyes, cool whip for the hair, mini chocolate chips for the mouth, and strawberry yogurt for the hair. My daughter LOVES it!!!
I am going to try the cookie starter mix. My 14 year old daughter likes to bake cookies for her youth group at church and she made a double batch to take to the nursing home last weekend when the group went to sing Christmas carols. I would love to win the Smucker’s basket, they have such wonderful products.
I love the to mix the strawbery jam and orange marmalade in the summer time. I will toast an english muffin and put a layer of the strawberry then a layer of marmalade. It gives it such a fresh summertime taste.

But I think I would have to pick the Dunkin’ Seasonal Mocha Mint as the all time favorite. Sure wish all the jams and jellies were availale in grocery stores. My husband eats so much of the Apricot and Peach jams, especially.

OK so I will only choose two of my personal favorites-The Crisco butter flavored sticks – as a young mother I needed a chocolate chip cookie recipe, so I tried the one in the crisco pkg – it has been our go to favorite ever since. My daughter still loves to make those cookies with me to this day. And the Red plum jam is lovely!

Folgers coffee is the absolute best! Won’t buy any other brand. My husband and I leave for work at different times and will leave an empty coffee cup with a little love note inside next to the coffee maker with freshly brewed coffee. Great way to start the day.

I now like the natural peanut butter more than the regular, but I remember being like spiderman crawling from the chair to the sink, down the counter over to the tall pantry cabinet, then climbing to the top and stealing the jar of JIF and hiding outside to eat it with my brothers via table spoons. No wonder my mother never could find the peanut butter. We should have bought stock for how much we would buy. LOL

cook frozen meatballs, add a jar of heinz chili sauce and a jar of smuckers jelly(we love grape) heat it up. place some on french bread, top with motzerella cheese pop in oven to melt cheese. makes a great bbq meatball sandwich. we eat them two times a month. yummy.

When we had to use the can opener at Thanksgiving, my 13 yo son thought that I had just missed cleaning that can out of the cabinets and we should just trash it. Considering the time of year, I would have to say the JIF peanut butter. : Around Christmas it reminds me of the peanut butter cookies with a Hershey kiss on top that my mom and I used to make every year when I was growing up…of course, several of the basket items are also in the recipe, but nothing compares to the smell that the peanut butter sends through the house when the cookies are baking!

so many wonderfull products, i would make peanutbutter cookies with the jiff, 1 cup peanut butter, 1 egg and 1 cup suger, roll in a ball, smash with a fork bake at 350. or make better than sex cake . make a 9×13 choc cake. poke holes in top when warm, pour a can of sweetened condensed milk onto to soak in , then pour a jar of carmel or butterscotch ice cream topping on top. let soak in and cool. cover with cool whip and sprinkle crushed or chopped heath bar pieces on top. yummy

Hungry Jack Easy Pack Pancake Mix- Wildberry
This will be my 2nd Christmas away from all of my family. It would be nice to introduce my son to the tradition I miss when my mom was alive. Making baskets for other, the joy of receiving them & the greatest joy to celbrate making food together as a family…or at least the closeness of making with you mom. Besides, the Strawberry Jam my husband LOVES.
Our family really enjoys the grape Smucker’s jelly! We also use Smucker’s hot fudge topping to make our favorite cookie icecream dessert! Smucker’s makes great products that my family really enjoys eating!

I didn’t realize that so many products were made by Smuckers – I just thought it was jams and ice cream toppers. I love the Pillsbury cookie mixes because they do make great cookies but also make great crusts for cheese cakes and cream pies during the holidays. Also Martha White muffins are so easy to prepare and give as gifts to doctor offices and friends during the holidays – they taste home made.

My favorite is the Jif-To-Go Creamy- 3/pk. I am a Hair stylist and I am always busy, but that Jif-To-Go Creamy is very easy for me. Plus I would love to use the new Eagle Brand Sweetened Condensed Milk- New Pop-top lid. I use it for baking all the time and that would cut down on using the can opener!!!

I definitely will make breakfast scones for my family. I like the light and soft scones and I can make them with Crisco Extra Virgin Olive oil and White Lilly All-purpose flour. For some reason I tried different All-purpose flours from Gold Medal, Pillsbury and others but by far White Lilly is the best.

Oh this basket could help make a whole meal plus dessert too!! Well first off we are huge smoothie drinkers so adding Smucker’s Natural Creamy Peanut Butter into our chocolate smoothies makes an awesome Reese Cup smoothie. Also, since we are vegetarian getting the uncrustables, flour and some Herbs making a great crust for our Eggplant would make an awesome Eggplant Parmesan ( I also use Hungry Jack mashed potatoes as breading) Soaking the Eggplant in the condensed milk, lightly breading with the crust mix and then with the Crisco EVOO to brown it. Lastly my 13 year old had been begging to make a Tiramisu this year, so with the Dunkin’ Seasonal- Mocha Mint or the Folgers Stick Pack and/or Millstone K-Cup- Hazelnut he can layer the Hungry Jack Easy Pack Pancake Mix- Funfetti pancakes, coffee, and Smucker’s Hot Caramel Topping which I am sure his creation will be deli-sh!!

You could use the flour,baking sticks, evaporated milk, and either the orange marmalade or your favorite the strawberry finest to make a sweet treat With this basket and a few more items there are a lot of possibilities. Mixing the Hazlenut into a batter made from the powder to make hazlenut flavored cake or bars.

I have two favs – Jif Natural Peanut butter because well… the obvious reason, that it’s delicious. I have my very own jar in my house. The fact that it’s natural because the less weird hard-to-pronounce chemicals, the better.
I also like the Orange marmalade because it’s great in cooking. I use it to make a sweet BBQ chicken marinade.

They have such great products . our favorite is the muffin mix it has became our christmas morning breakfast . they are sooo easy to make and when cleaning up all of the christmas paper and cleaning up before family comes we grab a quick bite to tide us over till dinner and the are the best thing for that.

My favorite thing to try would be the pumpkin cookie mix! Every year I always do some homeade baking with the pumpkin guts when we carve pumkiins and when thats gone I go to can pumpkin. I am curious as to how good the mix would be in comparison. The orange marmalade also sounds delicious and I love anything mocha mint so I would love that too! I guess I can pick a favorite lol

I would love to try the cookie starter mix and caramel topping. I make cookies all the time, but usually they are the premade, so this kit sounds like it would be awesome. Also a big fan of the peanut butter. Wonder if you could add the peanut butter with the caramel to the kit to make it spectacular.

I would say the eagle brand milk. I just watched the video on how to make home made ice cream and I would love to try that recipie. My 5 yr old twin nieces and their sister who is 6 are coming to my house for Christmas from Nashville, TN to spend 5 days. This would be a great thing to do while they are here.

I would use the pull lid condense milk to make hello dolly bars. Why work harder, if you can work smarter. Pull lid would be faster so I could eat sooner. LOL
