I’m really excited about this week’s podcast episode over at The Frugal House!  It’s all about living off the land.  One of the best ways to save on produce is to grow it yourself, so we’re going to talk about that.  Our family recently started raising chickens and growing a garden, but I learned so much just from this podcast.

You don’t have to live on a ton of land to have chickens and/or grow a garden.  This week I talked to Angela England author of Backyard Farming on an Acre (More or Less).  Angela raises goats, chicken and grows a garden that provides 40% of their produce all on 1/4 acre!  She has a lot of great advice about how to get started growing your own food without being overwhelmed.   City folks don’t have an excuse, she proves that you can do this too.

I also talked to Tony Melton from the  SC Clemson Extension.  Extension programs across the country are here to help all of us looking for more information about agriculture – and they definitely have the answers.

To learn more about Backyard Farming, go ahead and download this week’s episode and listen to it when you get the chance.
