When it comes to using pictures for public use, you can’t use any picture you find on Google. There are plenty of sites that have free stock photos to use on the internet, social media or wherever. Make sure they say “Free for Commercial Use/No Attribution Required.” Here are some of the top sites I’ve come across to find free stock photos.
1. Pixabay
I use this site the most often for my blog posts. It has an easy search feature and the images are relevant unlike a lot of free image sites out there.
2. Unsplash
These are more obscure pictures. I’d imagine them as the background for an inspirational quote. Regardless, they’re beautiful photos. There’s a search feature at the top left of the page.
Gratisography has more dynamic and exciting photos. There’s not a search feature, but you can check back every week to see new photos that have been added.
4. morgueFile
I know it’s a weird name. The name has something to do with how images are store after they’re used. It has a good search feature with plenty of images to choose from.
This is a pretty fun image site. They’re vintage photos found from public files, plus there’s a search feature. When you click on the image, double check that it’s free for public use.
6. Canva
They are already a great free editing platform, but they now have a great library of free stock photos too. Many are brought in from services above, but they do have a number that are unique to them. It’s also very easy to search through and find what you are needing.
