I’m about to head out of town for a week, and we have family coming into town to hold down the fort. While I have in the past done a ton of cooking and meal prepping, we’ve been in survival mode and I don’t have a lot of time to do that. I made a meal plan for the next week based on what we already had in our pantry, fridge and freezer, but we still needed a few things.
On a normal week, we don’t eat the amount of processed food you see listed here. But people have to eat and without time to prep, I am resorting to some convenience foods that are still a pretty good deal at Sam’s Club compared to other places.
Note that I didn’t buy everything on this list because it was the cheapest price. I had time to go to one store. I bought these things because they were what I needed! Saving money on groceries is an art, not a science, and sometimes life doesn’t go as planned. This is a realistic Sam’s Club shopping trip!
What I Grabbed at Sam’s Club This Week (Mom’s Leaving Town edition)

Member’s Mark Aloe Vera Moisturizing Hand Soap, 2 x 80 oz, $8.32
We realized right before I went to the store that we had no hand soap refills! While this is a little more than I’d like to spend, it’s still cheaper than buying a whole new bottle of hand soap as opposed to refilling the ones we already have.

Old Wisconsin Turkey Snack Sticks, 32 oz, $14.56
These are a staple in our house for a quick, protein-filled snack. We were out so I picked up another pack.

Member’s Mark Light String Cheese, 36 ct, $7.46
This is another staple in our house. You can’t beat the price!

Raspberries, 12 oz, $2.97
I’ve learned when I’m out of town not to be overly optimistic about the amount of produce that will actually be eaten. My kids love raspberries, though, and this price was too good to pass up!

Strawberries, 2 lb, $2.12
These strawberries were so cheap I’m guessing their lifespan will be short, but we will have no problem eating these quickly.

Nature’s Own Keto Soft White Bread, 16 oz, $5.48
I only buy lower carb bread now, and it’s expensive, but we don’t eat that much bread. I try to stock up on it at Publix when it’s BOGO, but I lost track of the fact that we were out, and we needed bread, so I choked up the $5.48.

Member’s Mark Seasoned Rotisserie Chicken, $4.98
I got this so that I could make chicken enchiladas for my family to eat while I’m gone.

Barilla Pasta Variety Pack 1 lb., 6 pk., $8.52
Long-time readers will be shaking their heads that I spent $1.42 each on boxes of pasta. You can often get them for half as much at Publix on BOGO! You’re right, but we were completely out and I didn’t have time to make another stop. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Mission Carb Balance 8″ Soft Taco Flour Tortillas, 16 ct, $6.98
I’ll be using these to make my chicken enchiladas mentioned above! While the lower-carb options are more expensive than their full-carb counterparts, my family can’t tell the difference and this is about as cheap as you can find them.

Member’s Mark Chocolate Croissants, 12 ct, $5.94
This was a pure impule purchase—it happens to the best of us. (We’ve already tried them, and they’re yummy!)

Tyson Mega Dino Nuggets, 5 lb, $14.97
I wanted there to be something for an easy lunch if needed and one of my kids was intrigued to find out how “mega” these are compared to the normal variety.

Tyson Crispy Chicken Breast Strips, 3.5 lb, $12.97
One bag of these is more than enough for a full meal, and that will make an easy dinner while I’m gone.

Jimmy Dean Crispy Chicken Honey Biscuit, 8 ct., $11.87
These aren’t quite as good as a Chick-fil-a biscuit, but they are cheaper and easy to keep on hand in the freezer.

Member’s Mark Seasoned French Fries, 64 oz, $5.97
These are not always on the shelf, but we are always up for trying a new kind of french fry. I’ll have our family pair these with the crispy chicken strips.

Member’s Mark Uncured Ham & Swiss Cheese Croissant with Seasoning, 8 ct, 12.64
These weren’t on my list and we’ve never tried them before, but I wanted to get an easy breakfast option, so I picked these up. I’ll have to report back on whether or not they were a hit!
