gifts for grandparents

In general, grandparents are givers: they spoil their grandchildren, offer their homes, and take care of their families. It’s always a good thing to celebrate them by giving back.

You know your grandparent best, but I wanted to give you some fun ideas if you’re stuck in the gift-giving field. Here’s a list of 11 different good gifts for grandparents!

Gifts for Grandparents:

Custom Family Tree Print
There are lots of versions of custom family trees on Etsy ranging from $10-$15 (which are generally a ‘we-design, you-print’ type of deal) to ones that cost hundreds of dollars, so find the one that’s best for you.

Amazon Fire Tablet
This tablet is pretty affordable compared to others on the market. It’s really great for Skype calls between grandparents and grandchildren!

Monogrammed Stationery

Family Photo Canvas

House Plant

Good-Smelling Candle
Spruce this gift up by adding it to a basket with other items like hand soaps, a Starbucks gift card, or a new book.

Personalized Canvas Tote
This L.L.Bean version is a classic.

Custom Photo Puzzle

Custom Recipe Tea Towel
This is a great way to remember and preserve family members’ handwritten recipes. Scan your handwritten recipe and the Etsy seller will print it onto the towel.

Movie Theater Gift Card
Let’s face it: most grandparents would take quality time over material gifts. Wrap up a gift card and make a date to see a movie and have dinner together.

Some ideas IF your grands aren’t well to do and are living on a fixed income or just social security:
Grocery store and drug store gift cards or a big gift box filled with all the fixings for a holiday meal (bought with coupons of course)
A gift basket with personal care items
A gift basket with Laundry/household products
Massage or pedicure/manicure gift certificates are great for those folks who would never think to splurge and spend that fixed income on a frivolous item like a pedicure but the older you get, the more likely (men and women) are to need help with caring for feet, especially diabetics.
A gift certificate for a lawn service, gutter cleaning service, snow removal service, roof cleaning or any kind of handyman service.
A cleaning service gift card for those heavy duty chores, cleaning out the basement, spring cleaning, etc.
Pet food/supplies or a gift card for the furbabies in their lives
Gas cards or groupons/cards for car repair/maintenance, oil changes…how bout taking Gran’s car for an oil change, detail, full winterization, change wiper blades or any of those things that are harder to do when you have a once a month check can be a godsend.
This also applies if you have any friends/relatives who are disabled and who live on a social security check/disability payments, or if you know someone who has recently lost a spouse (half or all of their income)or who has suffered a costly divorce. Being newly single also means you usually have half the resources to buy the same items you still need.
