Score a great price on the latest Roku device right now on Amazon. They have the Roku 3 on sale for $84.99 with free shipping.  It may seem high, but this is about the largest discount we’ll see on it all holiday season (they don’t mark them down often).

Roku is a magically little box that you hook up to your TV.  With it, you are able to watch basically anything from online, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant… the possibilities are endless.  You can even watch youtube couponing videos.

For us, it has always been our means to not having cable.  We can watch so much that we really don’t need anymore channels.  The biggest question folks always ask is what about sports.  Check out Watch ESPN and see if you are eligible to have a free account there.  You can watch almost any game on ESPN online if you are able to get an account.

We actually just upgraded to a Roku 3 this year from an older model.  There are some new features that may be worth it for you.  For us it was finally having an ethernet jack so we didn’t have to use it wirelessly (if you do use it over wifi they doubled it’s speed too) and that it’s processor was ramped up significantly.  Older models still stream the exact same content, so either way we are all watching the same things, the newer models are just watching it faster.

For some of you this is the price of one month of cable.  Think about paying that to buy this little magic box and then never paying the cable bill again.  It’s a nice thought isn’t it…
