If you’re like me, your garden may not lived up to all of your hopes and dreams. The good news is that there are lots of fun ideas for yard projects that will improve your garden year-round, no matter the weather or your gardening skills.

Sometimes all it takes is one fun project to change up your yard and hold you over until next year. Here’s a round-up of some of my favorite options from around the Internet.

DIY Yard Project Ideas

cartunnel

Truck Tunnel

Looking for some ways to get your kids involved in gardening?  Add this truck tunnel to the area to keep them entertained while you’re gardening.  I couldn’t find a tutorial for it, but it looks fairly simple.  All it really takes is some PVC, rocks, and bricks or wood for the road.

shoe planter

Shoe Organizer Planter | Instructables

If you’re tight on space, or just getting tired of all of the weeds, try a shoe organizer planter.  It’s great to put right outside the kitchen or by the back door to grow all of your herbs and vegetables.

swing

Simply Tree Swing | A Beautiful Mess

This tree swing is so simple and so sweet. I think it would really brighten up any yard!  The instructions I linked are very simple, but you can check out some more involved swings if your skills are feeling up to the task. We have three in our yard in various places and they are more of a hit with kids than our regular playset!

sound wall

Outdoor Sound Wall | Fun at Home with Kids

I love the idea of this outdoor sound wall (although your neighbors may not love it as much).  This is another great activity to give the kids to do while you’re gardening or working in the yard.  Most of the materials can be picked up from Goodwill and your local hardware store.

garden storage

Pallet Garden Storage | Our Little Acre

Grab a pallet and your most used (or prettiest) garden tools and convert the pallet into storage!  It’s a beautiful way to keep your most handy tools right where you can reach them.
