Starbucks $5 Visa Bonus

Starbucks is a special treat around here, but if you stop in there often, you definitely want to take advantage of all the discounts available.

Now through January 31st, if you use your Visa to reload a Starbucks gift card with $25 through their site, you will get a $5 bonus!

According to the email, here’s how to get your $5 bonus:

  • Reload your Starbucks Card for a minimum of $25 on Starbucks.com by January 31, 2012.
  • Only one $5 bonus per account allowed.
  • Bonus will be applied to reloaded card during the week of February 4, 2012.

If you aren’t already a Starbucks rewards member, I highly recommend it.  You get a free drink on your birthday and lots of other perks too. Also, keep an eye out on the counter when you pick up a coffee – they have been highlighting a free iTunes App each week.  Last week I picked up a free download code for Tetris!

Wouldn’t you know it..I reloaded $20 on my Starbucks card- with my Visa, about 3 hours ago. Thanks for the info, though. : )

      • BCT

I just reloaded mine on Saturday using their app.

      • Jess

        me, too!!!!! grrrrr

    • Knelson2500

what about a visa debit card from my credit union?

      • Jamie S.

I was just wondering the same thing about a Visa check card. Please post if you’re able to do it with yours! :)

        • Lfworks33

I know Visa check cards can be used on all machines as credit, that is what my bank manager has always told me to do. And the Visa I use also has where you get rewards when you use it as credit.

      • Zebby

I used my visa debit card for the last egift promotion they had with Visa and it worked.

    • Marcy

I loaded $25 using my Visa card, but didn’t get any type of confirmation of the additional $5 bonus???  Did anyone get some type of notice that they will receive the bonus?

    • Anonymous

How do I join the rewards club without a card? Do I need to go get one and put something on it? And do I need to be a rewards member before I load the $20 on it?

      • Anonymous

Nevermind, I went in and got a card – had to put $5 on it and then register for it. Now I’m not so sure I want to give up $25 more to put on it! I don’t go to Starbucks THAT often…

If we are trying to save money, which I surely am, we certainly won’t be paying those high prices for a cup of Starbucks coffee, but fix our own at home.MUCH,MUCH cheaper. I’m trying to pay of medical bills and it;s takes every penny I can save.

    • Andrea

Has anyone received the $5 bonus yet?

      • Marcy

I have not…but I posted a week ago asking others if they got some type of confirmation when they originally loaded the $25…I did not…and my reload appeared ‘normal’ so I a figuring I will not receive the $5 bonus, but we will see…  :)

      • Scott

I reloaded with my VISA about a week and a half ago. I have not seen the
$5 bonus yet, but I will give SB ’til the end of the week.

I wrote to them and they added the $5 to my SBUX Gold Card :)

        • Ellera3

I e-mailed them two days ago, but have not heard back nor received the $5 bonus yet…

    • Scott

Here’s the email that I got today from Starbucks:

      Thank you for contacting Starbucks.

I am very sorry to hear that the addition of the $5 has not been
added to your account. We did not expect for the amount of customers
that got the e mail to participate in the promotion. Right now the
addition of the $5 was supposed to be added by Feb 4th for US customers.
For CA customer it is supposed to be added by the 20th. Right now
because of the huge volume of customers that participated the addition
of the $5 has been delayed. Visa is trying their hardest to get all the
      customers taken care of.
If you do not get the addition of the $5 by the 25th for US customers
please call 800 782-7282 and the customer service representatives here
at Starbucks would love to add the $5 to your card. For the CA customer
please allow till Feb 29th for the addition of the $5, again if by this
time the money has not been added please call the same number. I
personally would like to say I am sorry for how long it is taken. I
again would like to apologize for any inconvenience this may have
If you have any further questions or concerns that I was unable to address, please feel free to let me know.

      • Ellera3

I e-mailed them as well about four days ago & received this e-mail yesterday:

        Thank you for contacting Starbucks.
I am sorry that you never received the $5.00 reload. I went ahead and added the $5.00 to your card.
If you have any further questions or concerns that I was unable to address, please feel free to let me know.

Thank you for sharing! I emailed a week ago and never even got a response. BUT, as a TMobile customer, if you sign up for THEIR new vip program, you instantly (within a few minutes) get a $25 bonus gift card for Starbucks. That one worked! and it didn’t cost me a thing! I did have trouble transferring the balance at first, then realized I just needed to add that card to my account, then the transfer went right thru. Hopefully the $5 will come as promised.

      • Scott

I did not receive the $5 by the 25th, so I called them today, and they added the bonus immediately to my account.
