Take a minute and think about your car. Mine is a nice little mini van with over a hundred thousand miles on it, a layer of melted crayons in the cup holders and a few lost toys under the seats. I know it’s no Cadillac, but it’s mine, it’s paid for and it’s a vital part of our life.
I don’t really think any of us can live without our cars in today’s world. The grocery store is 5 miles + away, church is a 25 minute drive, our parents live 3+ hours away… honestly the thought of not being able to leave the house to just get to the park makes me jittery.
Now to your car. When was the last time it got a good tune up? an oil change, tire rotation, clean air filter? If your house is like mine you have no clue. The car is needed, but I (and you) don’t have time or money to give to it.
Enter Pep Boys, they recently sent us a gift card for an oil change and inspection and wanted me to try out their online registration and tracking system. I can’t turn down a free oil change, so I hopped online found the nearest location and quickly had my car registered. It took all of 5 minutes to pick an appointment time and enter the car’s info. We printed out the paper work and dropped it off at night, all registered and ready for it’s 8 am appointment. The fun part was they send you a tracking # for your car and you can log on and see at any point where your car’s progress is. I love it! (Seriously more professions should come up with something list this…).
Getting the car back I’m pretty sure it is happier, it doesn’t talk a lot but I always feel like it is more spry after we show it some tlc.

Our Tahoe was used when we bought it (thanks eBay!) and the headrests had been cut apart to be used for a DVD system. We had to get new headrests and could only find ones from an Escalade so we have Caddy headrests with the big pretty emblem on them in our humble Tahoe. I think our Tahoe would love to be adorned with other things inside that would make it feel as rich as its headrests do!
My 2001 VW Jetta would ask for a new set of tires. She has over 150,000 miles on her, and like any pretty lady, she appreciates a new pair of shoes.

With constantly forgetting about it and then it popping back up in our minds, but being tight on money, we can never have a decent, ON-TIME oil change! It would also politely ask us to clean the headlights too. Not that it’s super bad, it does get a little hard to see sometimes at night.

My 1994 Explorer would say clean me and please fix my window so it will go up again. It might tell me to also fix the back seat belt so my kids can ride back in the back. It is not going anywhere because it is paid for. The best kind of car to have. thanks for always have fun with these freebies.

Our truck would ask for rebuilt kit for the transmissions or transfer case and we can drive it again. One vechical does not work in this family. Money is tight do not want to touch emergency fund unless it we have to.

I have a 2001 Altima, which I purchased new. I try to take the best care of her. I think she would ask me, to find a way to keep her young and healthy, by maximizing her gas milage and maybe a new paint job. She does have a little leakage around the head gasket, that needs diapered. I love her and want her to have the best.

I do believe that my car would ask for its well overdue oil change and maybe even to have the screw that appears to be permanently embedded in the driver’s side tire removed. Not sure where that came from :( but it sure likes to come along for the ride!

It’s a little too late for us. My son, who’s a cancer patient, drove his car to death (2000 Blazer) driving back and forth to Duke 5 days a week for HBO treatments. Now with surgery next week at Chapel Hill and another week of HBO treatments at Duke, his car died Saturday. Wish a $50 tune-up would do it instead of a $1100 repair bill. Prayers would be nice though, that we believe in.

My truck needs the spare inflated with nitrogen. Since DS came along in January, I usually drive DH’s car instead. It could use a tire rotation/alignment/balance.

I’m an 8-seater. I get used like a pack mule. It’s not easy being me, but I do my job without complaint. Boy, what I would give for some fresh oil. Imagine it, no clumps running through me…I wouldn’t have to choke on that stale stuff that’s been running through my veins for the last 9,000 miles. Yeah, an oil change would feel nice. And while I’m at it, these tires sure could use rotated. I mean, you’d think these people would realize what I’m going through here and at least let the lightweight in the family switch seats once in a while to give me even wear…but no, she’s always in the center seat. I get it, safety first, but I’m gonna get blisters here. Nobody likes callous tires, so somebody needs to rotate my tires soon. I’d do it myself, but I’m “tired”…I crack myself up!!! Oh, here they come now…maybe they’re gonna take me to Pep Boys!!!

My car is a 1993 Mustang. Her name is Faith. I’ve owed her for 14 years. In 2006 after diagnosed with breast cancer my husband gave me the keys. She needs an oil change and wax. Also a good leather conditioner to spice up the seats.
Oh, I would LOVE several fresh quarts of oil right about now!!! Mmmmm…. and a clean filter where the oil could freely flow! OH MAN! …and also a tank of gas would take me a long way….
My hubby keeps the maintenance done and is good about keeping up with regular oil changes and such but my downfall is keeping the exterior washed so I think they are always asking to be washed!

My van would definitely ask for some brakes! My husbands engine blew in his car so we had been only driving the van. We finally got the car back afterf 4 1/2 months and it needs brakes and a tune up. I just cant do it right now with putting 2,000 in the car and 405 in tires on the van, so yeah my van is screaming at me with its 180K Miles on it..lol..I just keep telling her how much I love her!

We have a 1993 Econoline van & it has spoken this past week that it wanted a new fuel pump! It wasn’t very nice how it told us either because it left us stranded but the good news is that Pep Boys did have a new fuel pump in stock instead of having to order it (& have it in about 10 days) like just about every other auto parts stores told me. Pep Boys wasn’t the cheapest by $10.00 but having it in stock was the option that we had to take. THANK YOU Pep Boys for having what my BIG OLE Van needed!!!!!

My ’95 Acura Integra (my $800 holla!) hasn’t been hollering lately. It stopped talking talking all together recently and I had to call emergency roadside service for a tow home. Thankfully, my Dad is pretty handy and was able to get up back up and hollering again!
