Did you know that if you are one of the 100 people at the brand new Chick-fil-A that you win free Chick-fil-A for a year??  Well, you do.  It’s not as easy as just showing up that morning, folks go and hang out in line for 24 hours in advance to earn their free food!  They do keep you entertained and I’ve even heard they feed you while you wait.

Are you up for some fun?  There are numerous Grand Openings in the south coming in the next two months.  One of which is just 10 minutes from me…

Liberty, MO
Ellijay, GA
West Columbia, SC
Oxford, MS
San Antonio, TX
Holly Springs, NC
Memphis, TN
Belmont, NC

Get all the locations and times for these stores and more details about being in the 100.

(thanks Ashton!)

These openings end up being like a big party with people hanging out there for days! Two of my 21 year old sons friends have won the free food for a year. One set up a kiddie pool in line and got his picture in the paper laying in the pool and waiting for it to open several days later! Ahh to be a teenager again!!!

    • Teresa-QOCD

    • Janet

Who would possibly want a year’s worth of any fast food? Never have eaten at Chick Fil A and never will. The Red Cross blood drive always gives you a coupon for a free sandwich there and I always give it away.

    • Amy B.

That’s pretty fun! The Harbison store has been doing lots of breakfast freebies for the first 100 people on weekdays. They open at 6:30 and the freebies are usually gone by 6:45….

    • Jenn

These are insane. There was an opening a few miles from my house about a year ago. It wasn’t just that you couldn’t get into the Chick-fil-a parking lot, you couldn’t get into ANY of the surrounding parking lots! Not even Publix! Oh, the horror. There was lots of music and yes, free food, though. Seemed like a good time for someone without a two year old!

    • Nichole in GA

The Ellijay, GA opening is just 45 minutes away, but I have a life. If I was 18 and free to do whatever, I would totally do it!!!

    • Kellie

You have to be 18 with valid I.D. to participate. Also there is a “lottery” system to get to the 100. Very long 24 hours!!

    • JennyM

Chick Fil A is the best fast food in the whole world. Every time I eat there the food is fresh and wonderful. The customer service is out of this world and they truly love kids there. I wish one of these restaurants were opening close to us.

    • Suzanne

I’ve seen 2 of these in our area. People even pitch tents! It looks like they have alot of fun, and our local police report them to be some of the best behaved customers for a situation like that.

    • Tiffani

I’ve done this once before and my friend did it with her infant. It’s worth it because when you need some food, you can always find a chik fil a and get some free food!

    • Erin

I would love to do it too! Chick Fil A is my absolute fav (and my 5 & 2 year olds too!) This would save us some MAJOR money! LOL

    • ET

CFA is not typical fast food! As an acquaintance of mine said, they are the Ruth Chris of fast food. What a wonderful example of a business model for other companies. I admire everything about them, mainly their moral principles and dedication to giving to others and their customer service is top-notch! But I wouldn’t stand in line for this. I guess I am showing my age. Oh, the things we would do when we were in college….

    • M Rose

We tried this in our town 2 months ago–wanted to do it as a group of families. 48 before the opening they had met the quota of 100 people!!! LOTS of kids and some wild shenanigans going on…not a family atmosphere at all!!

    • crystal

While the atmosphere is something I would typically avoid during a grand opening, (and personally would not attend unless I was a teenager) the store itself is supposed to be a family friendly place with great food and nice customer service. Chick-Fil-A’s are instructed to use second mile service and go above and beyond a customers expectations. On another note, unless you have a coupon there, I wouldn’t go b/c it is not a wallet friendly place, but I do believe that the quality of food is great. I have worked at a chick-fil-a for 4 years and I sincerely believe that most of the stores are exceptional (but keep in mind everyone sometime somewhere will still have a bad experience :)

    • Lori

Chick-fil-a ROCKS! Its one of the only fast food places I chose to eat! I might be a lil bias since i from Atl (thats where it started), its kinda like Coke if your from Atl that normally what u grow up drinkin!

      #3 Janet-
They are a great Christian org and do great community work! If you’ve never had it you should give it a chance it’s not the typical fast food….food. :-)

    • Tracy

CFA is great not just for the food and the service, but also their commitment to God. I never really cared for CFA until I had my daughter, and now we go their a lot.

    • Shannon in ATL

JANET…don’t knock it until you try it! Chick fil a is an incredible organization and I challenge you to read up on it’s founder Truett Cathy. He’s an incredible man that has helped so many kids by opening 12 foster homes, a summer camp and has taught Sunday school for 50 years. This “fast food” restaurant does more for the communities they do business in than we will ever know.
Every morning at my son’s private school the van with Truetts kids pulls up and drops them off….just a blessing!

    • nancy

Yes, at one of I go to there is kid nights or toddler day time activities. All very friendly. and the people are supper with understanding children in a wide dynamic age groups. And they are closed on Sunday so their employees have a chance to always have a family day of there own.

    • Jennifer

I Chick-fil-A so much for being closed on Sundays, for hiring “older” employees who might not otherwise be able to find employment and for their outstanding customer service.

Sure, it may take longer to get your food there than a typical fast food restaurant and it may be a little more expensive but it is well worth it to support such a great company.

    • Jennifer

please insert the word “admire” in the above post…

      I admire Chick-fil-A so much…

    • Shannon in ATL

AND…if you live near a Truetts..they have the best breakfasts…and on Wednesday nights they have a breakfast buffet!

    • Miranda

Ok…so I was a traveling “Grand Opener” with Chick-fil-a for many years. I have opened about 15 stores all over the USA. This free food for a year program is crazy. We have to start having crowd control usually two days before hand. CFA also offers lots of entertainment and free food for any “all nighters.” Those of us who lead out in these grand openings have just as must fun as the attendees. I encourage anyone who has a free few days to come out and join the fun!!

    • Christina

I have always wanted to do this….LOVE Chick-fil-A! But since the “camp out” is usually during the middle of the week I can’t attend since I work. I hear it’s a lot of fun and they feed you pretty well too. I say go for it if you have the opportunity to do it.

    • Wendy

You can’t be a Southerner without loving Chic-Fil-A! I’m a yankee by birth (Utah), but Southerner by heart. We’ve grown to love Chic-Fil-a in the 12 years we’ve lived in Georgia. They’re a great company and honor the Sabbath by keeping it closed–not many restaurants do that these days. Kudos to Chic-Fil-A.

    • Ln

Don’t forget that CFA kids’ meal toys are ALWAYS educational. In fact, so much so, that when I still taught I routinely ordered online or bought extras in the store of their books, games, computer games, and even a set of the planets to be used in my classroom. The best part is they were much more inexpensive than anything I could buy in the store. When I take my children there now, we always keep whatever came in the kids meal. I can’t say that about any of the other fast food chains.

    • Dixie

I’m only 10 minutes away from the Ellijay location. Their grand opening is Aiugust 13th. I was wondering why their parking lot was full this morning, well, that explains it.
I wish them much success here, we’ve been waiting for them to open a store here in Ellijay for ‘years’!

    • Lindsey

My husband and I have done this several times with his co-workers when there were openings in the middle TN area and it was great…and I don’t even like chicken! It was really not bad at all. The worst part was getting up at 6am for me! It was pretty much just camping in a parking lot and that is totally worth it for all the free lunches we got for him out of it. I’m always looking for more chances to go to Chick-Fil-A grand openings!

    • Mary

If you think about doing these you had better be prepared!! The SC and GA ones fill up immediately and there is a very slim chance of getting in. Not much fun to drive all the way there and then find out you don’t get picked :(

    • Sandraj

Hey Don’t knock it untill you try it.
Chick-fil-a is fast food…..but it’s also the best fast food chickin sandwich you will ever eat.
and if you still don’t like it after you try it. Please mail me your free coupons. We love that place.

    • Mandy

I did this when the Chick-fil-a opened in Thomasville! My SIL and I just camped out with some friends (of course I was in college and pre-husband and baby). There were games for free stuff, music, and yes free food. They served us breakfast the next morning and actually just give you 52 coupons for a free sandwich combo!!

    • Donna

      Hi Jenny!

I shop at BiLo and would LOVE to win one of your coupons – I am one of those people who NEVER win anything! I have been couponing since your seminar in Summerville, SC, I believe in May of this year. I am now saving an average of 75% of my total grocery bill. I love that you were and are willing to share your info about couponing – I was totally confused and never would have done this without your help!!

    • Penny

I like to shop at Kroger

    • Bethany

It’s Bi-Lo for me, and $50 sure would get our little family a TON! Maybe even three weeks worth of groceries!!!! yippy! We have saved so much money since I started living the “coupon mentality” life!
It’s not just coupons, but also having your eyes opened to a better way to spend money! Thanks so much!

    • Kristen

My husband and I have both camped out at two different Chick-fil-A’s for their grand opening. We had a blast doing it with friends and we did not have to get there two days before…but of course this was about three years ago. We each got 52 free combo coupons and they lasted forever. It was awesome! If you have time and are up for some fun pretending like you are young again I say try to find someone who has done it before and go. We did take a big tent and air mattresses to sleep in.
