Y’all know I love Cracker Barrel because they make my whole family happy and we could spend hours playing checkers and browsing in the Old Country Store. They are also running a very fun contest that got me all sentimental thinking about all of our family traditions.

Now through November 6th, head to Cracker Barrel’s Sharing Tree giveaway and  you could win a grand prize of $10,000 just for sharing your favorite fall family traditions!  Each week they’re going to have a new Fall topic for us. I know that we’re all proud of the Fall traditions we have with our families, and the Sharing Tree is a place for us to let everyone else see our favorite traditions.

Probably my favorite of all our family traditions is that we spend Thanksgiving at home and then invite other families over who can’t make it out of town for the holiday. It’s a great way to share the season and a meal!

Cracker Barrel fans have lots of great ideas, so while you’re looking around the Sharing Tree be sure to add your favorites. If you’re on Pinterest, pin a few ideas want to use for later! You’ll also earn more chances to win my doing things like signing up for their newsletter and following them on Twitter.  For each entry you make, you get an extra leaf on your tree.

I dressed up as “bum” for Halloween while workint at the Olive Garden in college. I wore a sign that said, “will work for tips” and won a $50 prize :)

    • Thanksgiving- Our entire family goes to my mom’s house for dinner. My sister, mom and I start cooking a week earlier.

    • We started a new tradition last year. About 7 miles down the road is a little family owned Garden and Produce farm. They sell pumpkins and gourds and have a corn maze. We took our 8 year old there last year at night. She was afraid at first (we went to the night time maze where they jump out and scare you) but she loved it! Unfortunately they aren’t having it this year due to an illness in the family but will hopefully be back next year! My husband and I went through it the year before and had a blast. It’s fun to hear all the comotion. Some people are really scared and some are just a little on the theartrical side, but it’s fun.

    • We all go around and each say one thing we are thankful for for each person. :)

    • Vicky Shirey

Spending Thanksgiving with the family at Grandma’s house.

    • Ewags

My sister and I both remained in SC following college, but we were always homesick for Illinois especially at Thanksgiving. One year, she made Mom’s homemade egg noodles. As I stirred the raw noodles into rich beef broth, I felt the homesickness fading. We’ve made noodles and mashed taters ever since. The simple tradion of that dish helped ground us.

In order to get ready for the Fall season, my kids decorate our house with home-made crafts. It is a great family tradition for us because it allows us to make things together as a family and it also shows our children that we value them as members of the family since their work is displayed throughout the house! It doesn’t always look like something out of a magazine, but it always brings a smile to my face! :)

    • Marie

We go to the beach every thankgsiving with our dear friends– who now live about 6 hours away! We began this tradition with only 2 kids between us, now we have 6 between us! The hubbies have smoked, fried, baked, marinated, and even ruined a turkey while we have consistently made canned biscuits, canned green beans and Stouffer’s mac/cheese. We spend time bundled on the beach playing and flying kites, have midnight bananagrams competitions, and make late night Krispy Kreme runs. It’s our very favorite fall tradition!

In the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, we take one leaf of the tree each day (they’re falling…we’re also learning about the seasons!) and make sure we thank God for that thing that day. Then Thanksgiving Day is a celebration of all the good things we’ve remembered.

The great-grandchildren like this part-they get to dance and jump around. And of course, the day ends with everyone rubbing their bellies, saying they ate too much.
