What if you are not part of a church?

      • kagil

        I was just thinking that!

Really? I wanted to make shoeboxes and this would have been nice for both sides.

I would rather buy my ticket to Dollywood and pack boxes for children in the US. Have you inquired about your local children center lately? Or the homeless shelter in your town? My daughter is friends with a foster child. This little girl 10 is not even allowed to spend the night anywhere, but feels blessed to be part of a family that has 3 other foster children instead of being in a home. I bought her ” NEW CLOTHES” and you would have thought I had given her a million dollars! Makes me want to cry how oblivious we are to our local need but are supporting other countries! How about trying to correct things that are wrong in your back yard first. Oh and to the ones that say they are not part of a church…you don’t have to belong to assist. Just my 5 cents for the day.

There are LOTS of programs for U.S. children. Angel Tree, Toys for Tots, Coats for the Cold, Baskets of Hope, and the list goes on. It’s incredibly selfish to say that we should only help “our own.” Kids are kids no matter where they live. Shame on you.

Misty I am a foster parent to a lot of children who are still in parents custody and they have no programs to assist these children. Please consider donating to your local mental health agrncy

Yes and those are NOT enough. We still have children starving in the US. I know too much about “helping agency’s” to know that I would NEVER donate to them. I actually GO to the low income housing communities and take a box of food or help grandparents that live in a run down trailer that are raising their grand children (or sometimes great grand children). Seek the needy they are there. Some do not have even a way to the so called agency’s you are talking about! Look around you…you will see the poverty (hopefully). Selfish? Shame on you for even making such a statement!

Samaritans Purse gives boxes to children in the United States as well as other countries. It’s a great organization. They stayed and offered many services in Tuscaloosa, AL after the tornadoes in 2011.
