The US Department of the Interior issued a new Executive Order that gives FREE access to Veterans for entrance to all US National Parks, as well as land managed by the Bureau of Land Management, US Forest Service, US Fish & Wildlife and others.

Current Military members and families already have free access with a Annual Military pass that can be obtained at any National Park.  This new order extends free access to those that have already served.

Technically free access started when the order was signed on 10/28/20, however they are giving the National Park System through 11/11 to create a pass system that can be used.

To get free access show one of the following forms of identification:

1. Department of Defense Identification Card
2. Veteran Health Identification Card (VHIC)
3. Veteran ID Card
4. Veteran’s designation on a State-issued driver’s license or identification card.

This new system will also include Gold Star Families which are eligible next of kin of a member of the US Armed Forces that lost his or her life serving in the military.
